it isnt a prerecorded set. He has ableton on his laptop and a touch controller with 8 buttons i think it is. along with knobs. each button triggers a loop. he drags in the loops on the spot or has a template he starts with. but he is controlling when the loops drop.

mixing is already a dumbed down version of mixing vinyl, do you rub two sticks together to light your blunts? focus your time on important things to complain about.
It’s called mixing and practicing your set many times beforehand to beat match on time. Only big time guys use all the full setup of equipment. I used to be a resident DJ at clubs and all I needed was a mixer and good software and my laptop
Ableton Live and it looks like he’s got a MIDI controller which you can link to different functions within the program. A lot of guys like Mr Bill, Ill Gates, and Bassnectar use Ableton Live. It’s great cause you can use the software to produce and live mix.

Plant Nation jansten has a loosely similar style of layering to Bassnectar. They also sometimes play similar ‘types’ of dubstep and people cooralate between them a lot. They also have a couple colab songs. Bassnectar is generally vastly more popular than Jansten thus the ‘store bought’ joke.
