    Student nurse here, thank you very much for your video. A simple explanation is always more beneficial than complex books. Last year I passed my exam purely by watching Khan Academy videos! Keep up the good work :)

    Thanks for this explanation. I had an MI on 18/04/2022 (yup, last Monday) and it would have been great if the staff had been able to explain this to me in similar detail, but they didn't have the time.
    That's not a criticism of them by any stretch, more an indication of how hard they work 24/7. I'd much rather they spent their time saving lives than giving explanations.
    Thank you for saving my life.

    I think that it is also important to know for testing purposes that - while yes troponin is the definite cardiac muscle, it isn't released until hours afterwards. The first markers tested for for MI is actually the myoglobin and then creatinine kinase (CK enzymes)

    I've come here to learn more about my episode of symptoms above, and enzymes present. Haven't seen the cardiologist yet for my diagnosis, but I know what they are going to say. Having another angiogram, before the appointment. I had no idea at the time, that it was heart attack. I was only at the hospital the day before, for the same reason, nausea and vomiting, with chest pressure.
    Thanks for the information.

      @@jamberry1135 I asked the VA to check me for Lyme Disease. I spent a lot of time in the field in the US Army. Come to find out, I have had Lyme Disease for 20 years and never diagnosed as such. Lyme Disease destroyed a lot of my lung and heart capacity. The VA gave me 2 weeks of Doxycycline and said, "We can't do anything more for you, sorry, good luck." Diet is now a major factor so I am looking at solutions. The VA does not do diet plans for Lyme Disease patients.... Take care brother.

    How does diabetes affect the pain sensing nerves on the heart? Why wouldn't they get the chest pain?

    • @sufi1414
      @sufi1414 9 років тому +5

      Diabetes causes damage to the nerves via nonenzymatic glycoslyation which leads to neuropathy. Neuropathic patients have no sensation from that nerve
