I have that 808 and a 808 Hawg I'm actually setting up for my girlfriend to use for catfishing. Thank you for sharing this video. New to your channel I just subscribed 😎
the tapered cone is to help with casting heavier baits. The cone holds the line better when holding the button in, allowing heavier baits not to "slip" when casting.
HEY SPINCAST GUY THE RED DISC ON THE FRONT OF THE SPINNER HEAD WAS PUT THERE FOR CASTING. THE DISC PRESSES THE LINE TO THE NOSE CONE SO THE HEAVY BAIT WILL STAY IN POSITION IN THE CAST. IN THE ECONOMY GRADE ZEBCO REELS YOU HAVELEFT OUT THE SPLASH AND THE VAULT REELS. BOTH REELS ARE UNDER 15.00. I HOPE YOU HAVE A SUPER DAY
Un isn't this the same reel that you can use for bow fishing i have this reel on the boss hawg rod combo but i have recently started blowfish so i will try it on my bow as well
Would you do a video about what a bearing in a video means but have Noooooo clue what that means. No bearing? 1 bearing? 2 bearing? Etc. Just don't have a clue and would love to know if it's to make a difference in my reel selection. Thanks a lot for all the vids!
The Spincast Guy THANK YOU Very Much! I hear bearings mentioned all the time but have NO idea what that means in the real world when I'm trying to figure out what meets my needs, while trying to figure out how to spend what little of my hard earned money I have for such things. In this area I often hear it mentioned but just don't know what is marketing and what it real. I think I heard you say that this reel has no bearings, while I hear other, smaller, reels have 6 or more, or 5+1 bearings etc. I just don't know what any of this means in the real world. I'm not mechanically nor engineeringly stupid. I just don't know how this and other things often taughted applies to this product. I don't need a PHd course, just something so I can understand what you're talking about. Thanks so much for your help. I've already learned things about reels from your vids that I never would have otherwise known. Take care, and God Bless. Bill
Same problem here. Did you ever figure it out? Weights didn't seem to help me, I respooled with new line and tried to clean and graphite lube but haven't had a chance to get it out yet
The Omega ZO3 is perfect for bass fishing. It's also one of the best built spincast reels ever made. It's worth the price. The ZO2 is a great reel for smaller fish. Trout, Crappie, Blue Gill, Perch, etc.
The Omega is built like a tank! I've yet to see a bad review of it. I love my ZO3 and it can be easily cleaned and maintained. Yeah the bullet is pricey. I haven't seen too many reviews on it but one I did scared me away from it. Lol! I figure if I'm gonna spend $100 I'm buying a spinning reel like a Shimano BaitRunner.
I agree. The bullet can handle braided line, but I think the guy was using to heavy a braid and that may have been causing his issue why the dual bearing pickup pins weren't functioning properly. I only use mono on all my reels.
I have one of the old original zebco 808’s. I used it for catfish and everything else when I was a boy. It was awesome! ✝️❤️
Thanks for the review. Just bought this Zebbie to catch monster cats on Lake Keowee in SC.

There's really not alot of videos on 808 zebco reel or maintenance videos either

I use that reel for halibut. Excellent!!

Its "basically" the same. The bow fishing one has a different spool and pickups to handle bow fishing line thats basically rope
Would you do a video on how to clean and lube the 808 zebco

That's weird. My Zebco 33 has 2 pins but my 808 only has 1. I wonder why they did that?
Is this reel suitable for salt water fishing?
Recently bought a 808 and it cast like 25 yrds and no more line will come out after that any idea what the problem is
You need heavier bait. Or sinkers
Same problem here. Did you ever figure it out? Weights didn't seem to help me, I respooled with new line and tried to clean and graphite lube but haven't had a chance to get it out yet
Can you use it in saltwater fishing?
Yes
Swordking Master00 v
What is the maximum pound line test
It come pre spooled with 20lb mono and really that's as big as I'd go. I'd probably go 15-17lb just for Castability
@@ThatOneGuyMatt thanks so much for the help . Was wondering if I could get some spoonbill with ut
Hey very helpful man
you can buy bearings to put in it
Line got stuck under spinning head and cant get out! How do I fix it?
Unscrew the cap, hold the reel handle and spin the pick up cap counter clockwise. Takes a bit of effort sometimes
@@ThatOneGuyMatt Thanks took a lot of twisting but got it done a little while later
Would you prefer the 808 for bass fishing
The Spincast Guy OK nice thank you I was thinking about catfishing with it

looks like a Walmart one as other 808's have two pins
The Spincast Guy maybe only the saltwater one has two pins.
Big Cat XT has dual ceramic pickup pins... best big reel Zebco makes! The 888 and 808 Salt Water also have dual ceramic pickup pins,
Does it pull more that 15 inches per rotation?
Zebcos website says 19 inches per rotation
