    Just built this as instructed. Its a great piece of equipment! I am really grateful for the time you took to lay out such careful and easy-to-follow instructions--thank you!!! One little addition is that I bought two extra 1 1/2" x 10" nipples and matching floor flanges to mount on the outside of the front legs. This way I can store weight plates on the machine, and also weigh it down a bit with the stored plates. Mine rocks ever so slightly when I use more than 200 pounds. The additional weight stabilizes during use. Again, awesome post, thanks!

    FYI, all teflon tape does is help form a leak-proof joint after tightening with a pipe-wrench. It doesn't prevent the pipe from loosening over time though; that's done with some sort of joint-compound like Perma-bond. For something that you don't want to ever come apart, Loc-tite or Xpando would be best. There would really be no difference between just tightening it with or without the teflon tape.

    • @jarretttr
      @jarretttr 2 роки тому

      FYI for ppl thinking Teflon tape is a sealant. It's designed as a lubricant when installing threads. Hack installing is when it's used to prevent leaks.

    • @jsamuel251
      @jsamuel251 Рік тому

      @@jarretttrthis is completely wrong. I’m a licensed pipefitter, try cranking a brass valve without tape, it’ll leak like the Iraqi navy. Specific to brass, you can crank brass all day and break the fitting. Tape helps hold the seal while not over tightening

    • @jarretttr
      @jarretttr Рік тому

      @@jsamuel251 Thread seal tape (also known as PTFE tape, Teflon tape, or plumber's tape) is a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) film tape commonly used in plumbing for sealing pipe threads. The tape is sold cut to specific widths and wound on a spool, making it easy to wind around pipe threads. Thread seal tape lubricates allowing for a deeper seating of the threads, and it helps prevent the threads from seizing when being unscrewed.[1] The tape also works as a deformable filler and thread lubricant, helping to seal the joint without hardening or making it more difficult to tighten,[2] and instead making it easier to tighten.[1] It also protects the threads of both pieces from direct contact with each other and physical wear, and helps seal and prevent leaks from the connection.

    I have a wooden Atlas stone platform I made which is a square, but is very sturdy made with all 4*4. I'm going to remove the two horizontal supports in the front, it will still be very stable, and I'm going to install just the pendulum setup. This is awesome. And it will work for leg extensions too. I'm going to use some old memory foam folded in half to pad it when in use. Easy peasy. You're great.

I mean if you find a way to put the top part of the Hyperextention on the rack you can save some space in your garage and may be it will be possible to use a pull up section of the rack instead of free weights on the Hyperextention machine?

    • @DylanKJohnson
      @DylanKJohnson  4 роки тому

      I'm guess you are talking about the threads on the piping where you load the plates? if so, then yes they don't HAVE to be cut off. It's just to help protect the plates from getting gouged up. I would double check the measurements to make sure the with the threads on it won't be too wide though as I can't remember off hand.

    I just commented on your belt squat video that you should do either a GHR/reverse hyper combo unit or make them individually, then BOOM! You dropped this!
    If you really wanna test your mettle and make some extremely difficult (I assume) machines that are absolutely exceptional that no one knows about, then checkout:

    Awesome video Sir!
    A couple of questions:
    1) The list notes 3/4" bearings (for the 3/4" pipe) but you keep on saying 1" bearings, so which one it is?
    2) Which collars are you using for this? if the pipe is 1.5" diameter, and a standard bar is 1.96", standard collar will be too big?

    • @DylanKJohnson
      @DylanKJohnson  3 роки тому +5

      3/4" pipe has an outer diameter of just over 1", which is why I list the pillow block bearings as 1" bore. They are correctly listed in the materials list. 1-1/2" pipe has an outer diameter of about 2" meaning standard collars work just fine!
