Isa thank you so much for showing this type of family video. It reflects us back during all those years of beautiful village life. To me it's a lesson to not forget about my humble beginnings and my identity. It means so much and carries so much beautiful memories. Always love your video as it teaches much about how precious life is. Vina du vakalevu.
Thanks a lot Waka Family... Really Proud of You and your Wonderful Boys... They've really grown and matured...I hope to one day meet them in Seaqaqa...GB
Bring back memories of my village school days, the 1 hour walk morning and afternoon. Stopping at any fruit tree along the way. Significant learning period of the humble beginning we came from. Good luck to you Eliki, you will grow to be a strong individual.
Thank so much for the comment! We were really hoping that this video (as raw an unedited as it was) could be a fond reminder to many people who have now grown up and moved on about where they started and came from and also something those parents could show to their kids:) much love!
Isaahh remind me of the time saraga back in the Island we have to walk for 45minutes everymorning to reach school and likewise in the afternoon. This video is like little trip down memory lane for us.❤
Isaa....love your vlog....brings back memories of the 80s...use to travel by school bus from Navua Town to Deuba district sch,we'll use up our 14c bus fare and walk back home, picking guava and wi ,swim in the irrigation channel take the punt across Navua river, reach Naitonitoni where home is ,swim in the sea arrive home Sasa broom waiting ....isaaa those days....
Bula Re Waka Family, I took my son back to Fiji where my Mum grew up for him to walk the red muddied track that my cousins kids still walk today to access their school. It's an access "road" that snakes thru thick jungle with a lot of 'co gadro' - prickly weeds in open areas. It takes them about 45mins to an hour to walk to a proper gravelled road, as it depends on how muddy it is for my young relatives, to catch a bus for the rest of the journey these days. Then of course back home again after school. Unfortunately, no fruiting trees on the way as its virgin bush, but walking with them, they created their own games and sense of fun to quell the boredom and the daily repetitiveness of their journey with seemingly no complaints. When we got back home my son never again complained about his journey to school which took him about 45mins in an air-conditioned bus then a train.
I'm in tears this video reminds me of my childhood i use to walk for one hour to school through the jungle crossing the river short cut if i take the highway might take me two hours that was in the interior of Bua province the district of wainunu we always picked a lot of fruits along the way Kavika, pawpaw and sometimes we look for vara the young coconut trees or what we call it in English

Seva and Eliki is experiencing such a memorable life as a child growing up the way it should be cause here in the city Suva our kids don't experienc that anymore and how we wish it was like the old days where kids was fearless not worrying a small bruise on the leg and drinking from hosepipe our "Internet" was outside playing until we get the "Sasa broom" this was the life we all miss. The way Seva just swinging from that tree and picked himself up again for another is just awesome and fearless of anything 👏 😀 🙌 too good God bless you all Vinaka for sharing this part of life
I used to walk to school too every day during my primary school day's with no 👟 and use plastic bag as school bag and if its raining,we put our school uniform in a plastic bags and get change in school but never thought it was a struggle back than. It was a good fun life ,missed them days ❤️
It’s so true eh, how times have changed. Your story sounds a lot like kids from our generation and our fathers and mothers. Life is a bit different for kids now though

Enjoyed all the comments about picking guavas, mangoes and whatnot en route home from school. But here's the full story...if you dawdled, lingered, and took your sweet little time, knowing that your chore when getting home was peeling cassava, husking or scraping coconuts, or gutting and cleaning fish, you prayed that Dad not be home. If he were, he'd be awaiting your arrival with either his leather belt or a hibiscus branch.
Myself I used to walk from ba Muslim primary all the way to heart home behide mission hospital when I was 6 😂 because I spent my bus money for lunch time good old days.
Hahaha so I guess no one was feeling sorry for you because you had your bus fare but spent it on something else lol….actually you probably got a hiding for that lol
