Did TMNT: The Last Ronin live up to the hype?

- In 2020 the first issue of IDW's TMNT: The Last Ronin was released. A story thought up by Eastman & Laird back int he 80's finally realised. A world where only one of the Ninja Turtles is left standing, with a mission to avenge the loss of his family. But the five issues took nearly two years to be released. And after the hype of wondering who the last ronin is has faded away, how does this story hold up?
With the recently released Deluxe Edition, I dive back into this series, to give you my full review!

I love how they wanted to keep the last ronin a mystery but also released preview images that had orange narration boxes
I personally love tmnt last ronin it was really awesome and badass.
Woof woof. I enjoyed it for the most part. Some critiques would be I don't believe splinter would have put donnies life at risk like that. The first and last issue was the best. But the series is miles better than the current tmnt, even with Armageddon Game. But I loved the art. This was a Mikey story all day. But the last issue and last pages really hit me in the heart strings. Took me back to my nastolgia tmnt love. They were my first heroes since I was 3. I'm 37 now. The rooftop scene was so earned. Woof woof

Imo it was a let down, it was clearly over hyped. Good overall but not as great as it should have been. But I enjoyed it as a TMNT nerd ^^

What do we have in store for one of my favourite times of year, Halloween on the channel?
It's PERFECT to me
I thought it was just OK. Very much agree about the new character. Same unlikable young girl character that they use in every single book these days. "Oh, I wonder what part she will play", I said to myself after the first panel with her. The new matriarch and master, at the end of it, of course.
The antagonist was as ludicruous and one dimensional. I feel like I would've liked it a lot more as a 12 year old, which is fair I guess. It's likely not aimed at my 36 years.
It was still alright though, and definitely had it's thing with the memories and the brothers being present.
I felt the same. it's okay at best. Some plot informations comes and goes without much importance.For exemple the new mutant powers of old mike to excuse him not dying from the fall.
Some dialogues feel so artificial. like when they talk about the mutant power of casey two electric boogaloo.
The art was nice, but some scene weren't easy to read.
The point in the story where they rush the forteresse to get myrmidon connected. Felt like it served nothing except removing some soldiers in the tower. It felt like a side quest in a video game.
Also, i feel like Mike wouldn't express is anger and sadness like that. as the Funny one, i think it would cope with very sad bad jokes or fake a pseudo happiness in front of everyone will trying to go in flames in a suicide run. I think he would more than likely try to hide it to everybody.
I personally didn't really like this, the art is so inconsistent and it definitely was hurt by the hype
this seems interesting. i'll have to check it out
