I am thinking about getting a mini schnauzer. I hacks a Labrador guide dog. Those Nylabones are an amazing little invention. My dog chewed on his for literally years. Y shouldn’t need a replacement for like 2 years 😂
Me too, we are getting a schnauzer next weekend (coming from Montana) Our last/past away Schnauzer refused to play with toys, she would just look at you until you retrieved it as if she was the human and you were her play toy. She was a puppy mill rescue about 3-4 years old when we got her and only had a short 6 years until acute respiratory distress and Congestive Heart Failure at about age 9. It was the saddest day of my life. It took 3 years of grieving her loss, until I could even think about getting another dog.
I have a mini Schnauzer, he’s a runt too, his name is Mack and he’s 15 he’s my best friend and he’s still a puppy 😂 he loves stuffed animals it’s so cute
I made my granny pup a blanket. I often travel with my pup especially in the summer. I think it makes the drive in her doggie car seat and being in a new house easier when she has her blanket. she sleeps on it every night no matter where she is. it's also nice that when I have guests over, if I put her blanket on the floor she will lay on that and not take up a seat on the couch.

I call my mini Big T because he has a huge personality, and he's a great dog. Doesn't chew on things, destroy things, or do his business in the house. He does bark at everything though when he's outside, but the neighbors don't seem to mind.
My 4 month old is the same he barks outside. We are training it slowly out of him..using the command touch and telling him not to bark. In 3days of training he improved so much barks 70% less and rarely at people.

How do you let him outside? Do you have a fenced yard, a tie out, or a fenced play yard? My two( sisters...3 months now) are on tie outs because we live in a plan...Also, one of mine bites a lot and is also very stubborn with going in the hous( we have Freize carpet...like grass). This is a couple of years old but, I feel I must say that essential oils are in general NOT pet safe at all. Talk to your vet before using any such products. Just because something is "natural" does not mean it is not toxic to pets.
Potty training doesn't have to be hard - always keep the new pup in its own little area with it's bed, water, toys and potty pads. When you take the puppy out, always take it FIRST to the spot you want it to use to potty, after it does it's job, praise, praise, praise! IGNORE if it makes a mistake - every time you wake the puppy up or take it out of its little area, take them to the potty spot - make a big fuss and sooner than you think, you will have a potty trained pup! But always leave the pup in their little area if you can't watch them to help keep mistakes to a minimum - never scold, always praise 😃 that's the secret!
I just got mine 2 or 3 days ago on the 28th🥺, he is so sweet he is such a good boy and he sleeps and is very playful I can’t wait until he gains a few more ponds so I can dress him up like I want to 🥰
Question, I just got my mini S as well and she is 8 weeks today only 3 pounds I believe. How big was your baby when he was 8 weeks? I’m worried she will not be the average size mini S. She is looking like she will be teacup which I don’t even think that’s a thing for this breed.
honestly not sure how much he weighed. But he's taller than my other schnauzer now that he's full grown. So his tininess didn't stick. hopefully yours will be good too
Get a play area that is caged off so the puppy stays in small area when you are not home. It is big enough to play but they are not in a crate while you are gone.
They pee everywhere when they are puppies. They pee because they are excited too. I never had children but I babysat my nieces and I compare it to that, you wont get much sleep but crate training is the easiest and less mess.

Don't ever buy toys for your dog that have the plastic squeeky apparatus right there where they can chew on it and potentially get chocked on it. Also, Nylabones and those other synthetic bones - no! Don't buy anything for your dog that can splinter in its mouth and damage his teeth and gums.
I have a Miniature Schnauzer that is now 18 years old. They are great dogs and very easy to train.
Easy to train, sorry but I disagree had two shnauzers a mini and a gaint and both where not easy way to stubborn to be considered easy
My Mini LOVES the squeaky crinkle toys. So much fun to watch him play with them.

We did the dog training class at pet smart and it helped so much. He lives inside and just goes outside to play

Use a harness. I had a tiny Yorkie that wore the one around her neck. Her esophagus collapsed. I now use a harness
