Both Mt Moffatt and Carnarvon Gorge were wonderful to visit. One of our highlights was running into and chatting with you at both places. Liz and Simon you were so generous and engaging when we met, thank you. We hope you continue to enjoy your travels, posting your great videos and we hope meet up again down the road. Cheers, Vicki and Alan (from Canberra).
Just watched the vid and screw you Simon ! as Sam & I both teared up with the emotion shown. Your “why” absolutely resonates with us ! Hug the boys (and Liz too) then continue just doing what you do 👍🏼 Love you guys !
Thanks for sharing this fantastic video. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit many years ago and your presentation reminded us of such a beautiful area. Your enthusiasm was spot on.
I've watched quite a few vids on Carnarvon Gorge after visiting there maybe eight years ago but yours is about the only one that to me captures the magic of that place. We did the same walk you did in exactly the same order and the next day climbed the bluff for a spectacular view from the top looking across and down.
We visited Carnarvon Gorge , did the first walk you have done and camped up at Sandstone Park back in 2017 . Sandstone Park had not long been opened so not many campers back then . Such a memorable place to visit and investigate the awesome side tracks . Well done for the effort needed for the second hike . We are not young so were 68 when we did Carnarvon Gorge in 2017 but we managed about 12 kms walk with all the side tracks .
Glad to see you guys made it to the gorge, we loved it there and the walk with the kids. On our list for a return trip at some time. Keep up the awesome work with the vids.
Amazing what a place!! You had me in tears, made me so proud of what you’re doing for your kids and yourselves. I’ve already looked what we can do with our fur baby. There seems to be a caravan park that looks after them for the day at Sandstone? That’s us. Thanks guys… I felt it ❤
Hey id love some info on this caravan park as I’m wanting to do Canarvon gorge and will have my pup with me and can’t find much info about anything around 😊 @sparkles1111
It is truly special to gift your kids such wonderful experiences. What a wonderfully right decision you all made as a family to tread this path, and to encourage others to appreciate the wonders of this beautiful country. I was there a few weeks back on a shakedown trip with a new van, and did the same walks and turnaround points - art gallery was definitely the right place to get to for the day of walking. Agree with you about Sandstone Park - incredible wraparound views, especially beautiful at sunset. Very much appreciate what you guys do, and your down to earth attitude and telling it like it is. Have learnt heaps from you! Thank you!
Great video. Now all you have to do is get the the northern side of the park at Karku Mundi and Salvatore Rosa. Both accessible from Springsure. Enjoy.
Mate, I sat next to you in Feb 2020. Didn't know what the emotion then was about. I now understand. You need to be rightly proud of what you achieved. Privileged to think I was there at one of it's critical moments.
Like you said, mate, get out and enjoy yourself. I will be going there soon. It's going to be a big walk for me, but I am going to do it. I love my photography, so it should be great. Thanks for the great video.
Hi from New Zealand. Well Carnarvon Gorge looks an amazing place to visit and we might have to go there when we are in Queensland next time. We have visited the Gold Coast and Cairns As we are from NZ I am a bit worried about snakes as we don't have any in NZ. As you are building your 76 LC at McCormacks can we have some video shows there, show us around if you are allowed. Show us what they sell and yours and other vehicle builds. This will be exciting. Keep the happy travels going
The snakes are more scared you, the carnarvon gorge is probably about an 8hr drive from Cairns guessing give or take a few hours. A must visit and allow 3/4 days to take in everything that the gorge has to offer.
Yes it’s a fabulous place and everyone needs to experience for themselves. We did all the walks. The amphitheater and the Moss garden were our favorites. Pleased you’ve got to see this for yourselves 👍👍
Who was the person or people that had the for sight to open this to the public?, and not hide it away , a big tick to them , I just hope that all that go there respect the greatness of it , and yes the wife and I will be two of those people , cheers guys for showing us a really wonderful place in our great country
I spent a few days camped atop Sandstone Park and hiking Carnarvon Gorge last year, so I totally get the emotional rush this place invokes. It ranks highly as one of my favourite rewarding hikes with such variety, awe inspiring landscape and culturally significant display. You and the boys are an inspiration to us couch surfers. I thoroughly enjoyed retracing the walk - criss crossing the watercourse via semi submerged stepping stones. Brilliant. 🏞
Thanks Simon at this stage I'm just doing research to find out the best one on the market I been a subscriber since you got the ranger regards Danny Ryan
Best time of year to go? Having driven through Queensland in December/January when it’s incredibly hot and prone to flooding (when not in a drought like we are now) I’d assume to aim for between April and October, even only as late as August. Although being a Darwin girl, sometimes the rain season can have the most spectacular scenery and show of life, despite the seasonal discomfort. I’m purely speculating and open to correction😂
You can see the reason that the Gorge is so popular...fantastic place. Re the thongs.....I must admit that every time I see Simon walking bushy areas in thongs, I wince. Goes back many years ago that I had to remove a long thin eucalyptus twig that had penetrated my mate's flesh between the big and next toe along....despite the protective qualities of the plug! Was just normal walking pace around the camp ground..in thongs. Removed about 30mm of stick with the only thing to hand...pliers from the car tool kit. Turns my stomach to this day and always wear covered shoes around camp. All the best for your travels.
Lucky for me my disability does not allow me to walk in thongs. Very much appreciate (again) that you take your cameras to show me so much more of this incredible country.😀

Wonderful vid Simon & Liz. Love the raw emotion too Buddy! 👍💪❤️
Awesome! Thank you!
Awesome video. Simon what a message. I had tears in my eyes too. Feel the same. The best thing you can do with your kids is travel.
Thanks so much
💯 feel what you’ve said Simon. That split canyon was special. Our boys loved it too! Definitely no regrets. 😊

@@gypsy.ash_ just look up Sandstone Caravan Park, Carnarvon Gorge. They have special designed dog kennels that they hire out for a day rate basis.

Thanks for showing us these amazing places. Just incredible!
Our pleasure!
Done that walk - I agree it’s astounding. We felt privileged to see it -- Can’t believe you did it thongs 😮
That's exactly how we felt! Thongs go anywhere.
Mate, I sat next to you in Feb 2020. Didn't know what the emotion then was about. I now understand. You need to be rightly proud of what you achieved. Privileged to think I was there at one of it's critical moments.
It's crazy to think about, Steve. A critical moment in time for sure. Life changing to say the least!
Most excellnt episode... how long ya need to spend up their to explore all the options?? Time to get some Hiking boots :-)
4-5 days is ideal to give time to rest. Cheers
What a beautiful place! Definitely on our hit list. Thank you 🙏🏻 😊
Our pleasure!

Yes it’s a fabulous place and everyone needs to experience for themselves. We did all the walks. The amphitheater and the Moss garden were our favorites. Pleased you’ve got to see this for yourselves 👍👍
The whole area is mind-blowing. Great effort!
Booked in for 14-16 Oct!!
Love it!

Definitely in the cooler/milder months. I'd say you're about right from April to October.

Thanks Grahame. I might learn a hard lesson one day, but they're getting the job done!
The thongs were the first thing i noticed . Having done that walk , I thought insane . My feet were compromised in hiking boots . No way .
Loved the vid but seriously thongs thats mad.
Yepp, probably. Ive been called worse though 😆
Simon, PLEASE get some decent footwear before you hurt your feet. My personal preference is Keen walking shoes. I’d be crippled without them 😳
Lucky for me my disability does not allow me to walk in thongs. Very much appreciate (again) that you take your cameras to show me so much more of this incredible country.😀
Thanks for watching, as always. Appreciate you.
19 kms in thongs?
You bet!
@@TheLifestylePioneers ha ! I would have been a cripple after 190 metres.
