The radio works! 😂 I saw a video from a North Korean hotel last week. In the comment section someone said, "In North Korea you don't listen to the radio. The radio listens to you." 😂😂
It's neat to actually hear this working. I just came from a video where all 4 channels were off the air. AM1 sounded like a Space Invaders game hanging, AM2 was static, and BGM1 and 2 were just null.
This is just like hotel room radios from the 50s and 60s, which just had 2 or 3 preset station buttons. This NK radio will no doubt be sealed against tampering, unauthorised station tuning.
Best guess, BackGround Music. Given the strict limits on available radio stations and music I wouldn't be surprised if those two channels were there just to pipe in state approved music. AM1 and AM2 most likely provide news and propaganda.
@@nightw4tchman Makes sense. These stations use around 1 million watts of power each so you can hear them in Japan as well as worldwide relayed over shortwave radio. Both North Korea and China have nice non directional shortwave transmitters that just play traditional music all day, it's really nice to listen to.
Nothing like state-sponsored propaganda to wake you up in the morning

Skip to 10:51 and you can hear that sound.
@@shenghe9876 they are jammers when not broadcasting maybe
AM 1 and AM 2 are probably Korean Central Broadcasting Station (KCBS) on 819 kHz and Pyongyang Broadcasting Station (PBS) on 657 kHz.

doesn't need to be sealed
you mess with it, you go to the gulag.
I want to clone the radio for my home
Thank you for the Great video
I get what AM 1 and AM 2 are. But what are BGM 2 and BGM 1?
Best guess, BackGround Music.
