I've never seen IS procedure on a Schindler. It's quite different from some other brands. Thanks for the demo.

Glad you liked it! I've done IS on a few different brands, and this one is very straightforward.

Basically kids, independent service means you have the elevator all to yourself.

You know, the way the Inspection controls kind of give me a retro feeling - To the old Attendant Service controls...

I find it interesting how independent service operates a little more different on a Schindler elevator compared to the competition.

I'm not surprised. Many different manufactures do independent service their own way. I have a MAD elevator nearby that requires you hold down the floor button to close the doors (the actual door close button does nothing).

I've seen one where you press the floor and then have to press door close to make it move, even if the door is closed.

I've done Independent Service on an HT as well. (Of course with permission) I think it's kind of weird the way they set it up. The door close buttons don't work, pressing door open or touching the sensor will cancel out the call which I also find interesting. And the call cancel button doesn't work either.

I did one at H&M in Woodfield with permission

Schindler independent service is weird, Otis has probably the best version of IS as it gives you the most control.
You can even keep the door closed and not go anywhere and cancel floor selections.

what does HE stand for? some other weird term for independent service?

  • @Ih8kone

With Schindler, door close only works in fire service.

You could plug in a vacuum or something else to clean with.

Another thing you didn't demonstrate: While on HE, if you interrupt the sensors or press Door Open when the door is closing, it will open back up and cancel the requested call.

@@stlelevators Pretty much their take on Dover's "Call Cancel" feature on IS, you know, letting go of the button before the doors are fully closed, that thing. Jamestube showed it a few times.

@@stlelevators They also do this: If you register a call while another is already registered, it cancels the previous call and will either: A. Continue traveling past the first call to the new one when going in the same direction (If leveling, it will stop at that floor then continue moving), or B. Stop at the nearest available landing and reverse direction if traveling away from the new destination.
