The best feeling is when you have no time left on the clock and the opponent stalemates you😁
And I don't like it, because it doesn't look like you win it by skill
@@chrisenvelope8985 you don't win but you hold a draw
If that is the best feeling, then I feel sry 4 Magnus C
A variation to that is when you have 1 second left (in a game with no increments) and even if you have a queen and maybe a knigth or a pawn or even more pieces, you know you won't be able to checkmate before you lose on time...
but then you sacrifice the queen taking the opponent's last piece, meaning that even though you'll run out of time it will be declared a draw and not a defeat because there's only the enemy king left so there's not enough material to checkmate you in any way
Lol
3:00 This one is fun to picture IRL... One king standing next to three horsemen asking the opposing king, "Where, exactly, do you think YOU'RE going?"
9 / 10
I am really enjoying these puzzles!!!
one of the best feelings in a chess game is when you are lost, but then the opponent accidentally stalemates you when they're up so much in material
Also one of the worse feelings when it's the other way around
Always remember just because the king can't move doesn't always make it a stalemate...if that was the case then every game would start off as a stalemate, because neither king can move on the first turn.
bro everyone knows that
@@theblazewarrior551if so why do you think chessvibes had to explain that at 2:20?
I love the format, but I have one recommendation. At the start of such videos it would be useful to say that in all of these puzzles all white pawns move up, all black pawns move down (if that is the case). I, myself picked it up by puzzle 5,
I believe. but for some people those unnatural piece placements may be somewhat confusing :)
the chess board notations on the side?
I got 10/10 all within the time limit. Thank you for the video! I really enjoy these types of videos as they help me with my board vision.
it takes me 4 seconds just to find the Black King on levels 5-10
@@Nick-ff4is I got 8/10
@@Nick-ff4iseven the last one which it was obvious?
okay maybe not the last one@@petechan7677
For the check one, I saw the bishop controlling c6 at the last second and switched to yes then quickly to no.
The same for me! It was definitely the one i got the closest to the time limit
3:00 I remembered this position from one of your previous videos. Great video!
Yes it was a puzzle
I really wish you would bring back the weeky quiz series or the stump the chump ones those were the OG's of chess vibes
8/10 Why Always en passant is getting me 😢🎉
I only miss 1 of this Challenge, I like this kind of exercise, please continue
I missed the one with the en passant, and said no on the checkmate one when I didn't even consider checkmate being an option. Otherwise, I got the rest right, 8/10!
I got the same score, for the EXACT same reason XD
those last few positions are so common so this was a great help!
5:21 it's funny you say en passant saved the game for black, when instead of getting a draw they will now be checkmated on the next move.
what is the checkmate the c5 square is available for the black king
ChessVibes I just wanna say I absolutely love this type of content 😊
A fun trick might have been a position that isn't currently stalemate, but can only end up in a stalemate in the next move or two
Enjoyed it very much, your content is very creative. 8/10, because once I messed up the direction of the pawns, what gave me the right answer in one position, even for the wrong reasons, but killed me on the next one, also I was conditioned from the first positions only to look, if the King can move, so didn't even see the Bishop giving check.
these are extremely fun to do! I got a 7 on 10 because i got too overconfident coz i got 10 on the last checkmate video challenge. But regardless, please make more of these.
9/10. I missed the checkmate position. I blame it on the UA-cam subtitles.
managed to solve 9 out of 10, but not always with the correct reason
Which one did you miss
The sixth puzzle almost got me, but I saw that it wasn't in last 1 second.
10/10, great video!
All but one. I didn't see the queen could move in whichever position that was, maybe #7? I think my board vision is improving, because I was able to spot the legal moves when there were legal moves pretty quickly, with that one exception. I was very pleased to see the mate on the spot.
Got them all but had to pause for some. Took me 5 seconds just to spot the king on 1 of them. 😅
9/10. Ofc I don't see the sniper bishop all the way on h1.
I would have thrown in a trick board where black has only one move that results in a stalemate for white.
With the timer I got 8/10. I missed 5, though I did correct myself before the solution was given, and 8. Enjoyed the challenge!
9/10 (That checkmate one was dirty)
I got 7/10. I missed the bishop checking the king and I wasn't able to see the pawn. I figured the last one wasn't a stalemate, but I didn't see the free knight until after the time had already expired. These are fun videos. It seems easy at first glance, but the timer adds just enough difficulty to make it an actual challenge.
I liked it, only got 8 of them because I needed to catch on to the tricks earlier on
On the last one, if there was a pawn in the way of the knight, I would have lost the last one.
Your timer is not enough to think about positions, if the timer is 20 seconds, we will have time to think about the position.
For the level player I am, 20 seconds plus a reminder what piece moved and from where would've helped.
Skill issue 1!1!1
I solved all of them in less than 2 seconds so it sounds like a you problem
@@fusion67 Comment sections could be positive places for discussions and questions, but instead...
You added no value by your snarky comment just derision.
The point is to be difficult. This help builds your ability to quickly identify stalemates. You may not even have 10 seconds to identify a move as a stalemate
5:32 - yup, had THAT position in my last game ...
Do these exercises help you get better at spotting check/stalemates?
3:12 Is this the famous three knights game?
8/10, this was harder than the previous one. I really like the video's concept!
I got all of the right, but I had to pause for a few extra seconds
More Adventures!
Thanks, again nice challenge! In 4 did not see the bishop blocking, in 7 missed the check, and in 10 saw the knight move but not in time. So 7/10 for me.
This is an education video. Good thing not all watchers are pros. You surely taught them what a stalemate is.
9/10, I ran out of time looking at #7 because there was a lot going on and didn't even see the bishop.
The bishop 69 km away😂😂
I only got tricked with a checkmate one.
Answered right on "can the king move" but was too tired to see the checkmate.
Still enjoyed the puzzles
I got #8 wrong. I saw the bishop putting the king in check and thought the pawn could block, but I missed that it was pinned.
I got 8/10 but had to pause to actually examine the board for some of the ones with a lot of pieces. That one pawn at the bottom got me good though
Nice set for stalemate. I got only one correct. Finding the black king on board took too much time!
Nelson, 9/10!
The en passant one I got tricked, even though I got it the last video.
Appreciate the dedication in your videos and streams man, gg!
10/10, on time, I was surprised honestly
This time I've got all right.
4:23 wasn't fair because an ad interrupted the flow.
Thanks Nelson, I had a lot of fun, I managed to answer all 10 puzzles correctly👍👍
That En Peasant caught me 😂
wow missed the last one only since assumed they were all pinned from the 10 second timer, tricky puzzles...
9 both times, and both times tripped up by the en passant 😑 I think I need some en passant revision!
I have one ot two puzzles wrong, but due to the time. There's no much time to decide. With just a few pieces you can see it quickly, but with many pieces on the board it is much more difficult to see on time.
Try to play chess if chessboard spin to 90' every time when black is make own move.
1. e4 e5 (normal)
Spin board
2. d4 f5 (now white pawn moving e4-d4, and black play pawn moving e5-f5, or white pawn capture e4xd3 or e4xd5 and black pawn capture e5xf4 or e5xf6)
Spin board
3. d4-d3 f5-f6
The 8th one almost got me. I almost did not notice that the Bishop in the corner was checking the King. 10/10
WHY WAS THE LAST ONE THE EASIEST FOR ME
Nice, i got tricked with checkmate
even though i noticed it's covering the escape square on diagonal
wow really realistic last two
10/10, got all in time, though almost failed the "full of black bishops and white knights" one
That was fun and I got them all right! Though for the one at 7:17 I got it right for the wrong reason - I didn’t notice the bishop on h1 and I thought the king could move to c6
Got tricked by the position 5, all others done correctly (although most of them just in time). Very nice ideas in the last three ones!
10/10 under the time constant
Some puzzles almost tripped me up, but it was still easy... All correct
I got 8/10. Missed the knight not being pinned on the last one, and missed the one with the en passant.
I got 9 of them correct. The only one I got wrong was the one with En Passant because I couldn’t prove if White pushed the pawn two steps on the previous move
For future checkmate/stalemate puzzles, it might be useful (for the later ones in the group of 10) to keep the number of pieces on the board relatively low and instead decrease the time limit (perhaps to 7, 5, then 3 seconds), to help give people practice and thinking quickly about the positions.
where’s the fun in having less than 30 pieces on the board?
and 9/10 in this one
The checkmate one tricked me I got 9/10
I got all of them except for that checkmate one
Got all 10, but 3 of them I paused the timer. Thats some fun content there :)
I liked it! It was harder than the previous one. In 9/10 I got the right answer before you said it. But sometimes it took me a little bit more than 10 seconds
Good video.
10/10, almost got tricked by the 8th and 9th one though before the timer ran out
10/10 again I really enjoyed it! I would love to see more of this. It was definitely more challenging than the previous one. Thank you!
Make Martin puzzle, what Martin play this position? That maybee hard to solve, you putt one minutes time / puzzle.
I got 4 and 6 wrong for the dumbest reasons while getting the more difficult ones correct. On 4, I thought the pawn moved from d3 and on 6, I would’ve gotten it right if the timer was 11 seconds
9/10, got em all except one where I said "oh wait en pas..." just after time
9 of 10 in 10 seconds, and I got the last one before you answered, but it was closer to 12 seconds.
I easily got 10/10. I like this kind of content and would be happy to see more difficult positions if it is possible.
Same I got 10/10
10/10! This time en passant did not catch me off-guard 😂
Got all 10. The en passant one was very easy actually if one is paying attention to the first move closely.
9/10 I didn't notice the bishop checking from miles away 😢
9/10. Didn't notice the checkmate
10/10 the checkmate one tricked me becouse i didnt see the bishop but i thougt king could just move :D
Bruh how did everyone get >7/10 with the timer now I feel terrible 😭
I got all except the 3rd one
9/10, saw the queen about two seconds after time elapsed.
8/10. I did not see the en passant and the knight capture in the rook and knight one.
8:05 is the reason I don't play the French defense
on the 6th one you said that black is still loosing, but how can white win this with all the black bishops controling the dark squares?
10/10 just like last time
9/10. Missed the 4th or 5th one.
Yes i finally got all the 10 positions even though im not as good in chess anymore! The 8th i changed my mind last second haha
I think that 5 more seconds would saved me in all cases 😢
8:09 God i hate it when im up 16 rooks and 30 knights and still endup with a stalemate.
I got 9 out of 10 this time... missed the sniper bishop that was checking the king.
This was harder than the checkmate challenge!
Ha. I missed 2 but the en passent was not fair if the previous pawn move wasn’t seen.
Maybe I missed it but …
I swear this is some sort of inside joke. Every time he casually pulls up a more ridiculous position I wonder how he keeps a straight face.
