Another great adventure Greg, Virat and Trevor. The salt lake with all of the cracks and ridges provided a great foreground. Your panoramas were very good (all 3 of you) and Virat's jpeg images processed well. I was really impressed with Trevor's images of the Sumer Milky Way, just first class! The Ha and the airglow was so good! 🏆👌😎

What an adventure and some great images at the end.. I think it was a great night and drone footage/video looks so good.. Greg your image of the vertical Milky Way and the summer Milky Way looks amazing on normal camera.. Trevor’s images are next level..
@@ViratShah Thanks Virat, I'm still in 2 minds about the heavy Ha images - I can appreciate them but think I'm going to stick with the RGB only for a bit longer. Incredibly what you were able to achieve on your first outing with the astro modded camera, and jpg only 🤦
@@GrowPhotography Thanks Greg and I definitely understand that.. I will decide how the HA images look when the Milky Way core will be imaged and then see how much difficult it will be to edit.. If it is too difficult then I may resort to using the other camera... Yeah, happy with the end result from the jpeg images as I almost gave up

That was inspiring!!! Greetings from Southern California (fire centeral, USA) where I just shot Polaris last weekend from the desert, with all the satellites, aircraft noise and light pollution!! WOW, what a place to shoot!!! I used to think Nox Atacama was the darkest, most clear place on earth, but Mates, YOU got it!!! Really incredible work!
@@kainuisocean Thanks for watching - we are pretty spoilt here but Elons satellite are definitely having an impact here as well... so much more editing required to remove them these days.
This was a joy and an education to watch, Greg. I was in Perth & Busselton for ten nights between the 23rd of December and the 2nd of January but only had time for one night-shoot up at New Norcia. If I had been more familiar with the countryside, I would have taken some shots at one of the salt lakes. Thanks for giving me ideas for my next visit!

amazing video Greg, what a night that was, such perfect conditions....you really know how to draw out that detail in your images while keeping them super clean, very impressive work. And Virat managing to do so well despite shooting in jpeg was pretty crazy. Also, perfect shot to finish the video 😆

@@Metragnome_Images Thanks Colin, the cameras cope pretty well with a few hours of time lapsing but generally I do attach a powerbank as well - if you have keen eyes you will notice it on the ground to the left of the camera shooting the star trails.

@@adampoll4977 That's very cool - so you like the extra megapixels of the Rs. Strange they change the menus between the two. The Nikon menus are very consistent between the various models.
@@GrowPhotography I think they took critique of the initial menu system to heart and modified it, but.... At least you can set up custom buttons and menus to handle your most used settings. My cameras are for work as well and once you set up a custom button for APS-C crop mode you have a built in 1.5x zoom that still gives a 26Mp image so it doubles the utility of every lens you have. If I had the luxury of a dedicated astro camera it would be a modded, lower pixel count body - but having all that resolution to play with IS nice 😄
@@amacmedia3221 I just focused about 1 metre in front on the close cracks and then a second frame focused on the tree and blended the 2. Then the star trails were focused at infinity {on the stars)
@@geoffsharpe6456 It was my first outing with the A74 after winning it plus the 14mm f1.8 GM lens at Astrofest. It's going to take me a while to get familiar with the different menu system compared to the Nikons I am more familiar with but looking forward to the challenge.
@@johncarter591 Haha, we were all very sympathetic as it's so easy to do. Having said that, the jpg images came out surprisingly well - could be a new time saving hack 😂

What's the story behind the Sony a74? I've been using the a74 (astro modified) for quite a while now and really like it.

Yep I've Done that shot in jPeg after resetting the camera after I was having Issues! I tried converting to DNG but the data was lost
