I'm not a believer at all but I'm not angry about the praying at the beginning. Who cares? I'm grateful that this man is not only a great educator but kind enough to allow his lectures to be played on UA-cam for FREE. Free education is the greatest gift, religion aside.
When talking about the differences between demonic possessions and schizophrenia, on the other hand, he referred to interpretations of the bible and personal experiences. This part is based entirely on what you believe. I found the story about the supposedly demonically possessed person to be interesting, but since I am very skeptical about demonic possessions I have a different interpretation of the event.
For example, when asked if the cause of schizophrenia is genetic, he referred to twin studies that shows that if you have an identical twin with the disorder, you have a 50 % likelihood of developing the disorder yourself. This number is not a matter of opinion or faith. It's either correct or not correct. Studies have been made and new studies could be made in the future to either confirm or correct the number.
The lecture isn't ruined because the speaker is a Christian, but the religious/spiritual parts could be considered off-topic. Most of the lecture is based on science and studies, but religion is a matter of faith.
Did you ever consider he might be a brilliant lecturer BECAUSE of his beliefs, not just in spite of them? God brings light and wisdom generously to all who ask Him for it (read the book of James). People say Christians are closed-minded, but from the comments I'm reading, non-believers are the ones that could use a little more willingness to embrace someone different from you.
How does it ruin it? The entire world screams for Christians to tolerate everyone and every belief but where are the voices crying out for the world to tolerate Christians? If this man were a Muslim, nobody would demean the intelligence or relevance of this lecture because of his faith.
These videos are very informative! I’m happy they are FREE
Shut up about religion. I'm not religious but still I enjoy and learn from these lectures. He's a brilliant lecturer regardless of his beliefs.

Maybe he meant Charles Myers instead of Charcot - www.apa.org/monitor/2012/06/shell-shocked.aspx
How could Jean-Martin Charcot cure World War I survivors if he died in 1893 and the WWI only started in 1914?

Charcot died in 1893 and never dealt with soldiers of world war I (1914). Get your facts straight!
I am listening to a lecture on psychological disorders from someone who prays to god ???
