When i tried to do a orb build, i picked the mobius ship. the passive triggers all "on ability use" skills every 13 sec, so i stacked up on the one that casts orbs on ability use. Dark orbs damage is based on your weapon damage (they deal 150% of your weapon damage, so high damage weapons are prefferable), so the changes could happen through some temporary damage buff. There is a special ship (eclipse) and weapon (helix) for orb builds, but i haven't managed to unlock those as you need to kill a specific elite enemy for the ship that only spawns on Threat 50 (everything to the max) and win a playthrough with that ship for the weapon,
Having played this a bit along side watching you, the biggest thing I am noticing as a difference is that I've been focusing 100% crit chance as a priority regardless what build I am doing as the crit damage and on crit effects expand the consistency of the builds. I'm finding my damage much stronger quicker Edit: Also its hilarious to me, I have double the Paragon points, and 11 Artifacts unlocked but I have never seen an artifact in a run outside of the artifact shop unlocked at 10 artifacts.
That Caustic burn passive would have been soo good. Your orbs boost the status dmg quite alot with that one upgrade. Would have been the dmg you wanted :(

There is a ship that triggers all your "on damaged" effects every 8 seconds as it's passive, taking 80% of your ability power as a measure for how much damage you took in calculation. outside that the only thing you can do is to stack armor and selfheal to negate the damage you take (though it still counts as damage taken for the challenges)

I think the orb damage stuff was changing depending on if you were at max health or not
Wasn't your first pick free from shop? Could have gotten the artifact? Don't think you got anything before it

Aren't "on hit" and "on fire" different things? I'd think on hit would mean when you get hit. Not when you hit an enemy.
"On hit" is when an enemy is being hit, "on fire" is when you shoot (fire your weapon), "on damaged" is when you receive damage.
