kpaquatics has amazing live rock down here in the Keys in FL. They also ship filled with water next day. I have ordered from them a few times and there was 0 die off and no smell at all.
I would be so paranoid about parasites hitchhiking in on that live rock. Especially with a fish that expensive. You could always let the tank go fishless for 76 days. Or raise the temp to 80.6 degrees for 6 weeks. This would speed up the lifecycle and shorten the time. Or just dump and pray🤣. Of course waiting that long is not ideal, and you definitely wouldn’t want to keep it in the peace maker for that long. Beautiful fish BTW. Congratulations!!!!
That funny you mentioned AZdesertrat. Was wondering what happened to him. When I was setting up my tank his post on rodi systems really helped me out understanding it.
I have well water and just throw my air stone in the bin over night. then i pump it through the DI resin the next day. i went from about 75 gallons before the DI was depleted to maybe 800+ gallons. I get 1-2 tds out of my RO filter.4
@@melevsreef Putting new live rock in your reef, you couldn't possible know what's on/in it. I would personally be terrified, especially with all you potentially have to lose.
@@acanskywalker5631 It went into a brand new aquarium, not my reef. But my entire reef (and all previous tanks) were set up with liverock from various sources, never had anything remotely worrisome to deal with. I'm a huge fan of live rock, always have been.
CyanoRX and DinoX products are ok but if you don't get your nutrients back into balance the issues will keep coming back.. no3 po4 can't bottom out shouldn't be too high and should be in balance with one another.
That coral beauty is going to fiercely go after your new prized joy. If you plan putting it in your big tank i would give a friend the coral beauty. Not worth the risk IMO
I always miss the streams but I have question: for acropora colors do you require higher NO3/PO4 with high par or just meassurable NO3/PO4 with high par?
Lower nitrate and phosphate should provide better coloration longterm. 3ppm No3 and .03ppm Po4 tends to be ideal conditions, but I know plenty of gorgeous reefs with higher numbers than that.
@@melevsreef Under blues really beautyfull, I do run very white a few hours a day for some extra par. First SPS tank so not sure what to expect. Have about 70 pieces and maybe 5 are not happy.
Wow! That is a DREAM fish! Well done ;)
This is the coolest news ever! Happy for you, that's one beautiful fish!
That is one beautiful fish, congrats man. Must feel amazing to finally get your hands on one.

Catching up, but I saw the posts about the fish and the rock, badass fish for sure!

What thickness polycarbonate will you use for the aquarium lid?
1/4”
Beautiful fish! Congrats! What part of Florida are you in?
I’m in Texas, near Dallas.

That's great, glad to hear it.
I’m not thinking why you spent so much. It’s rad
Wow Marc, I never dreamt it was like you to be playing Russian roulette with your reef!
In what way?

Sorry, I misunderstood, I was under the impression everything was running on the same system. ¯\_(ツ)_/
Sorry, my bad, I misunderstood, I thought you'd had everything running on the same system
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thanks for the heads up. I’ll double-check that, because I thought there wouldn’t be conflict.
@@melevsreef I had a coral beauty that would fiercely attack any centropyge I put in same tank with it. YMMV
We hated live rock because of the pests. Dry rock actually brought many new hobbysiists. It just takes longer, so deffo pros n cons

@@melevsreef I'am exactly in that range. NO3 is about 2.5 and PO4 is about 0.03.

I love your streams keep up the good content . What was the name of the fish again ?
C. interruptus
No concern about a mantis shrimp or crab on that gulf rick that could kill the angel?
I’ll be watching the tank for any surprises before I add the fish.
I missed the live stream! ughh!
It's okay, that's why we save it for later viewing. :)
