You don't really need pearls to get on the nether roof. Find a space you can place a minecart at Y 126. Right click the cart, hit left-shift, and jump around like crazy. Poof, on the roof.
+Mumbo Jumbo Probably the same people who find this stuff also found glitches like wrong warping in LoZ games. Or- people who end up turning Pokemon Red into a fully functioning twitch chat, emoticons and all. Arbitrary code execution is the key to all of life's problems...
+slicedlime It works like a charm, cheers. I guess the downward piston head was tricked into being the bedrock and the bedrock was retracted in place of it. Now I can get to my nether mob farm a bit more fluidly. :)
+slicedlime Saw this just in time before 1.9 ;) - If you delete the vertical line of bedrock in the end-return-portal with this method in 1.8, you can actually keep the old portal blocks in 1.9. When you place an end crystal, the old portal does not get deleted but the new one spawns right away. This was the missing link to actually do that in survival :) Thank you so much!
My first attempt failed because I only had 2 enderpearls, and I play in watery areas, which means further pearls are hard to come by. It took me about 2 weeks to be able to try again.
This worked great in 1.11.2, thank you! I had a hard time finding a good spot to ender pearl up where I wanted the hole so I just went to the spot you used. Once on top I just walked back over to where I wanted my hole punched. Surprising amount of mushrooms up there.
hey nate wazzup can u make a mg that is compatible with low end users who have 10 fps optifine end low? even thought i wont install it it will take me ages with my old pc Ty for reading
Fuckin' A! Just the video I've been searching for. I've been wanting to make an AFK Gold/XP farm for Xbox One, but couldn't find a way to break the bedrock (that still worked anyways), but, thankfully here I am. Thank you so so much for posting this! Tried it out to make sure it worked for the One, and it definitely does. Just earned a sub from me!
Sharing this' very nice, so people can know about stuff small youtubers find [who are the most innovative on the community]. Now we have three different ways to break bedrock in the latest updates, and this specific one's for fine bedrock breaking, since you can do it upside down, and in all directions. I would recommend using Spires for bulk breaking, and this for breaking blocks below wither cages or your sculptures. :P

What I find amazing about this video isn't the bedrock breaking (I already saw it at Myren), but the enderpearl trick. That is a method of getting above the Nether without using any bug! That means that it will never get patched out. And you can just put a portal up there to have an easier way for everyday use.
However Mojang made enderpearls have a cool down in the snapshots so this trick is already broken :/
9 років тому+2
Spy Guy1 No, he mentioned it in the video: You teleport yourself into a corner where your head is in the bedrock. When the cooldown is over, you jump, so that your head is above the bedrock and then you throw the second enderpearl. It works perfectly fine with the cooldown.
+FaRo (Fabian Röling) Sorry about that I was watching the video with no audio!
9 років тому
Spy Guy1 That could cause some problems indeed. I don't ask why, I just say: You can see the cooldown in the hotbar and you can see the snapshot version in the F3 screen, both were visible in the video.
+FaRo (Fabian Röling) the only thing about putting a portal up there, is I tried, at least on my Xbox One, before finding this video... I did the enderpearl trick to get up, made the portal, but, it wouldn't take me back up there from the overworld, I had to go back through with the enderpearl again... I tried saving and exiting up there, and when reloaded it only put me back in the overworld. This is the best method.
Update to below: Tested in 1.11 snapshot (16w32b) and so far it still works in the latest version too. Nifty. Worked perfectly first attempt in 1.10.2, though there was a brief paranoid moment stuck up there wondering if I'd brought everything with me I needed. The only snag I ran into was finding a suitable area in the ceiling where there was enough space to use the Ender Pearl trick described. Instead I used a minecart trick that requires less space. Place a block at Y=125 and a rail at Y=126. Place a regular minecart and climb into it. Same idea, jump and throw a pearl to escape. This might be useful if anyone else if having trouble finding a straight 3-block long area.
I found another way to get on top of the Nether. Based on this video. Before getting into the Minecart drink a jump boost 2 potion. When you exit the cart your head is at 127 and you're standing on 125. So jumping with jump boost 2 you can jump up to 127. No ender pearl necessary.
For anybody who plays modded and encountered the same problem as me: explosions won't break anything. It was even more confusing as the first one worked, and the second didn't. Check your baubles, you might have a benevolent goddess' charm. I crafted it against creepers and totally forgot I had this thing.
My experiences, just now, playing with this (successful) glitch in 1.11-pre1. 1> recipe requires 2 sticky pistons placed first (they lose their heads) and two NON-sticky pistons second (they get moved around and do the real breaking). I first tried doing this with four all-sticky pistons (thus placing the down-piston involved breaking an extended piston, but was still pretty simple) and the results looked identical (pistons got their heads back, only up-facing piston remained, down-facing piston did vanish) except that the bedrock simply did not break. 2> The requirement of exactly 1 layer of bedrock at the top is ONLY to make sure you get a hole you can drop into and re-access the nether in one try. It is NOT a bare-metal pre-requisite of the bug itself. If you try this bug over 2 layers of bedrock, you WILL successfully punch a hole through the first layer. It's just that if you only planned to punch one hole, this may not achieve as much as you had hoped since you won't re-gain access to the nether that easily. ;3 For me, learning this was important since I wanted to wind up with semi-friendly "steps" into the ceiling for aesthetic reasons, and the top step is easier 1 hole above 1 bedrock than it is finding a ton of 1-layer bedrock in a row. 3> This bug appears to have precisely dick to do with chunk alignment, as some people in the comments seemed to be speculating. This appears to work at any X and any Z coordinate. It will probably even work at any Y coordinate where you have enough space to build the contraption (or hack together a timing-precise duplicate of one), but good luck accomplishing that anywhere but y=6 and y=128. xD 4> I have also built the contraption in at least 2 different rotations around the target block with no ill effects, so I am 90% certain it is rotation and probably reflection agnostic. Good luck adminium-busting, amigos!
@@reverie5760 this video was actually made in 1.8.9. The creator looks at the comments to see if it still works. 1.12 is in the title because someone told him it still worked and he edited the title

I had previously learned the following way of breaking bedrock once you teleported through. Has that also been fixed? 1. Place 4 dirt in a square on top of the bedrock. 2. Place 4 Dark Oak Saplings on top. 3. Feed it with Bone Meal so the tree grows. 4. Break the bottom 4 blocks of the tree. 5. Place 4 new Dark Oak Saplings on those spots. There should be Dark Oak Logs right above it. 6. Feed it with Bone Meal again. The second tree will grow downwards into the bedrock. 7. Cut down some logs and find your way down. If there happens to be now way, cut some leaves until you get 4 more saplings and repeat from step 4.
works in 1.10.2. tried it in the modded spilled juice pack that is available through the AT launcher. Used boats to get on the bedrock though. Much cheaper and easier. just clear a 3 wide space 1 block below the bedrock. place the boat. get out of the boat. place another boat on the bedrock and you are on the roof of the nether. best way to get out is to bring a nether portal in case something goes wrong.
For some reason the mine carts would not ignite for me in 1.9.2. I did some experimentation and found out that if you use normal tnt blocks it works as well. The trick is to use 2 blocks on 2 sides of the tnt to keep it from bouncing closer and blowing up your sticky pistons. Once its lit then quickly mine the 2 blocks and run away. Everything else is exactly the same.

Wouldn't it be possible to get through the nether ceiling without enderpearls. Using a double piston extender. Last time I checked, the bug where you woould fall through pistons was fixed. There is only 1 enderdragon egg in the world andere thus harder to get and more expensive. There are 50000000 something redstone pieces. Infinite slime cobble andere Wood generators etc.
+SquidCraft -mc- You can duplicate the egg the same way you can duplicate sand (Panda4994's method iirc) - drop it into the End Portal from exactly 6 blocks up, with a fence or cobblestone wall located directly underneath the End Portal. The End now contains a dragon egg and a dragon egg item. The trick is now to retrieve it - if you have another player already in the End they can retrieve the egg, however if in SSP you follow the egg through the portal the obsidian platform will regenerate and you will lose the duplicated egg. The solution is to remotely drop the egg through the Portal - you have 45 seconds after you enter the end before the overworld unloads, so you can have the egg follow you through the portal if you want.
Hey lime, I set up everything like you showed, but for some reason, the tnt minecart doesn't activate while the repeaters signal. Could this have to do with 1.9.4? Thanks
+Jay Douken It should - the timing involves only server-side controlled things. Things that break in MP usually break because the timing involves a player somehow.
Blocks required (REAL): 9 Obsidian blocks 10 Redstone repeaters 2 Minecarts with TNT 2 Sticky pistons 2 Pistons 1 Activator rail 1 Lever 5 Redstone dust 2 Redstone blocks 4 Cobblestone Walls 4 Netherracks or any building blocks (Note: for climbing above the bedrock ceiling, you only need 1 ender pearl if you have ladders. You can put the ladder right underneath the bedrock you want to break and keep climbing up, and you throw the ender pearl upwards, you will be pushed into the bedrock and able to climb out of the bedrock ceiling.)
It still works on 1.12!!!

+Jay Douken It should - the timing involves only server-side controlled things. Things that break in MP usually break because the timing involves a player somehow.
Still working on 1.9-pre2
Works on the archonpvp, 1.8-1.8.9 on server
I can confirm this still works in 1.12.
The latest version doesn't allow you to use a pickaxe on the other side of the bedrock :( any tips?
Blocks required (REAL):
9 Obsidian blocks
10 Redstone repeaters
2 Minecarts with TNT
2 Sticky pistons
2 Pistons
1 Activator rail
1 Lever
5 Redstone dust
2 Redstone blocks
4 Cobblestone Walls
4 Netherracks or any building blocks
(Note: for climbing above the bedrock ceiling, you only need 1 ender pearl if you have ladders. You can put the ladder right underneath the bedrock you want to break and keep climbing up, and you throw the ender pearl upwards, you will be pushed into the bedrock and able to climb out of the bedrock ceiling.)
anyone know a different way to break the nether ceiling seeing as this one is patched in 1.13?
Still works as of snapshot 16w06a.
it works ;-) nice video
Just worked today for me in 1.9.2 :D
