I got one treble from an old Canadian Wiggler in the arm about a decade ago...with a 30" pike still attached to the other, thrashing away like mad. Was in a canoe and didn't think anything of pulling a green pike in with no net, landed a ton of fish in the canoe before. Luckily my cousin pulled the pike off real quick and didn't tip the canoe or anything. It bunched up a ton of skin on my forearm and the barb poked out the other side, so it honestly didn't hurt much more than a needle prick. I remember looking at the scenario unfold and thinking it was gonna though. Just cut the barb off and you could barely tell it happened...just two pin holes about 3" apart. That's the worst I've ever got hooked.

I find it so weird how people love musky but hate pike. The aggressiveness is just the same, the strikes, the fight, the runs. The SIZE. Pike are way more abundant and take lures way more often. In my opinion it’s much easier to get into 40”+ pike consistently and way easier to access, musky is more time spent for less result. I’m not against either, both great fish imo.
It’s just so weird to try to make logic out of the concept people have surrounding these two fish when there’s little to no differences, actually more positives on the pike side of “fishing” as a whole.
