Some artists and their songs just reach inside you, and touch your very soul. Buddy Miles has always been good at doing that to me. Some of his songs just go right through you. May his music live forever. Saw him live in Youngstown, Ohio around 1973 or 74. The BOMB!!!
Nobody can put my mind in a trance like Buddy, just play Dreams then Down By The River and see. And then again in other songs the Man's voice is just pure sweet jazz.
I never heard this cut by Buddy before..but it is tight..that infectious groove is always present in his writing, playing , singing..he sweeps you down the river with him.....
Absolutely love this driving beat and his fierce voice. Thanks for posting!! It's bizarre I have this record and it skips in the exact same places .!!! Must of been from same batch .
Kudos to 81ufom for posting this...this is my all time favorite Buddy Miles jam, I had a lady who put me on an emotional rollercoaster with her coming and goings,Boy i was glad when she dumped my ass.Not only did it make me become a better man it woke me up to how to treat a woman and this song played a role because i'd be home alone and late at night i'd be sipping on something mellow, cranking this song up and following all the bass lines with my bass guitar...great memories and may Buddy always rest in peace
Wow thank you for posting!! I grew up listening to Buddy Miles' Album on 8 track (yes I know I'm old lol) My mom had A Message To The People on 8 track and this song, Midnight Rider and Don't Keep Me Wondering were my faves from that tape. I have been looking for this song. Wow just brought back memories for me :-)
No . . . . if you REALLY wanna hear buddy get down, go listen to an album called "A Third of a Lifetime", by Three Man Army. Although Buddy is not the drummer on all the tracks, the ones he does play on . . .. well Id say they cook, but this sort of track leaves nothing but cinders ua-cam.com/video/aOtkvc_lNhA/v-deo.html
If "they"cared even a little about Buddy, his fans or music in general, it would have never gone out of print. Id say the same of Buddy's live record from 71. Who are "they", is the question.
This is a fantastic tune. Damn, this is great! What a bombastic group Buddy, Hendrix, n Billy Cox were as well. Hell, even if Jack Cassady(Jeff Airplane) had joined them, they woulda rocked the planet. But the Hendrix, Miles, and Cox power trio were a 3 headed monster, nobody wanted to mess w/!
Great song and great performer. Always loved this song. Taking me back to the '70s. What a great time.

One of my favorite albums back in the day. It didn't get the radio play, but I wore out the grooves.
