Auburn Tigers TEST Deni Avdija & The Israeli National Team's Strength!

  • The Tigers fall in their final game of their Israel trip.
The Israeli National team defeated Auburn 95-86 on Monday afternoon behind Deni Avdija's 25 points. Avdija was the No. 9 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.
The Tigers struggled to stay in front of Israel, who ran some tremendous sets in the half court that Auburn continued to overcommit on. By virtue, Israel drew 46 fouls and shot over 40 free throws.
It was a great learning experience for Bruce Pearl's Tigers, who had cruised through their first two Israeli contests (119-56 win over the Israeli U-20 team, and a 107-71 win over the Israeli Select All-Star team).

that was 1st Israel national team game after long time without being assembled + while missing 3 of the starting 5. and overall most of the main gourds.
after 2 weeks practice for the national team - the game score wouldnt really be close, and thats fine.
those are pro's against young aggressive , athletic american players who represented their Team very well.

@@lawrenceS59 which of the games are you referring to now?
If it is to the grown IL national team you are correct but not entirely.
1- if you look at IL's national team players age you will find out some of them are same age as those 'kids'. In europe 'kids' are finishing youth basketball and join the teams.
2- This was Israel's first game after long time not playing together , that was the beginning of Israel's practice game towards the summer European championship. for instance since then Israel had played 3 more practice games against other Nationat teams and beat Georgia's national team twice on the road , and yesterday have beaten the Romanian national by the exotic score of 112-61, all those games even without Deni Avdija.
Auborn players gave a really good fight but you do need to keep in mind that israel was missing 4 of its better guards including 2 starters.
if Israel will play Auborn now the score difference will be much larger even though American college players are notlacking phisicality against grown men. especially those from europe.

@@SHLOMIYAN I'm not talking about physicality. I'm talking about years playing basketball at a high level. The entire Auburn team is between 18 and 21 (and 1 super senior thats 25). I just checked the ages of the IL national team....there's really no comparison in age. They got a guy born in the 80s on that team. There's 1 or 2 people on that squad "near" the age of these college kids. They were supposed to lose.

Isreal and Auburn play was different. You can tell the difference between a professionals and amateurs (college). Look at the ball movement and how easy opportunities were for the Isreal national team. They were pretty much in cruise control the whole game. They are pro basketball players. They should win and make it look easy.
Auburn has guys who can play basketball and anybody who knows basketball or actually played at a high level would know that if you are really good and play at a high level, then you can hold your own talent wise on the court. The difference between these two teams is experience and IQ of the game.
Auburn will beat Montverde HS basketball team just off of experience and of course being older and more mature as well as talented.
