    So glad I first learned saxophone in jhs band before i picked up the guitar. Pentatonics should come AFTER you know how the scales and modes work.

    I do need that cable. My solo was coming up so I was going to do something epic. At just the right time, ran up, jumped off stage and started my epic sole....except the bass player was standing on my cord. It was yanked out of my guitar, I blew the PA system up, and found myself standing in the crowd with no sound coming out of my guitar. And to my surprise I didn't get laid that night. Women can be so picking when it comes to the smallest of details in a performance.

    In the same way the C major and A minor pentatonic notes spell CAGED,the G major and E minor pentatonic notes spell BADGE in a jumbled way. But shapes are more useful in general. Both can work though I suppose. The problem for me is that I don't see the shape but it sounds really nice and musical.

    So question. Would the pentatonic part of this lesson be over a complete G chord vamp, or would the chords go to em , bm, am respectively with/under the pentatonic change? To clarify if someone was to jam with you and was just playing the chords, would they play the respective minor chord to the pentatonic or would they hang on G the entire vamp?

    • @danbosch-
      @danbosch- 10 днів тому

      You are looking at it backwards. If you were playing that progression, he would target those chords' root notes in his solo to resolve phrases on to outline your chord changes. If you vamped in nothing but G, he would resolve most of his phrases to a G note.

      @danbosch- 10 днів тому

      @@jc.amsterdam search "how to target chord tones" click on the jules guitar lesson...
      this is a beginning lesson on how to target shared chord tones to solo.
      you can imply the chord changes with your solo if you do a method like that, but target the the root note of the chord when they change, to start and resolve on while that chord is being played.
      . i hope that helps.

    Music teachers always know what's best but never seem to do it. People like them get a fan base but never anything compared to people who've learned through love of it and passion. How many classes did Kurt Cobain take while living in his car? Or Stevie Ray Vaughn living in Dallas TX oak cliff? Learn songs not theories.
    People love the sound not the technique. Play with passion or like a robot student. Joe Satriani has a fan base 🤔
