We just have to wait and see how it will go in Bahrain and Shanghai, both tracks require much more power from the PU than Melbourne, where you can do well even if the PU is not as good as your rivals. Also the reliability is the question that wont be answered until much later. Keep in mind that Red Bull was the most unreliable of the Renault powered cars/teams last season.
@@Balnazzardi They were running an upgraded spec of engine that none of the other Renault powered cars were. Renault has always had reliability issues. Honda on the other hand had decent reliability last year, if not equal to Renault.
@@marcusyoung2870 they were running different fuel than Renault too, which was a pretty controversial decision. Probably didn't help reliability at all.
Daniel Still doesn’t mean nothing. Mercedes were faster in qualifying in the last 2 years here, and look how the races went. Plus, Albert Park is not properly representative of the teams’ pace on other tracks, like we’ve seen before. Except for Williams. It doesn’t look good for Williams, at all.
Fidestic F.O. I mean, I wasn’t wrong back then. Ferrari was still very quick at a lot of tracks last year. They were quick at Bahrain, Baku, Canada, Austria, Germany and many others in the second half of the season. Their season would’ve looked a lot different had they been luckier (they suffered reliability issues constantly at their strongest tracks) and had their drivers not made so many mistakes.
1. Great one by both Mercedes! 2. Vettel did the best he could I think, thought Lec would be closer tbh. 3. Max great one but Red Bull was overconfident with Gasly. 4. Kimi was decent as well as Gio. 5. Haas were stellar today. 6. Lando was on fire, Sainz was disappointing. 7. Renault could get that Q3 entrance but both made mistakes. 8. Racing Point was as expected, Perez destroyed Stroll. 9. Surprising for Albon. 10. Disappointing but Russell drove the hell out of that car.
Firemarioflower I don’t know, two tents down on your 4 times world champion teammate on the first qualy with the car seems like a great result to me, but whatever, haters gonna hate regardless
To be fair Kimi was almost out in Q1, and in Q2 and Q3 only did a 0,1s better lap than what Giovinazzi did in Q1. I was quite surprised how fast Giovinazzi looked tbh. Coming from a huge Kimi fan, I feel Kimi wont have it easy this year with his teammate.
They do seem to have a better car this year. If only ALO was still here. Also, imagine Lewis was still at McLaren and had to wait til 2019 to get a good car 😕
Bottas is a great driver but the same happened last year. Hamilton is just too good at extracting every ounce of pace from the car which is why he is the Pole King.
MSport93 Nah, that will only happen in the second half of the season. It will be something like this “Valteri it’s James, we don’t want any drama, please stay behind Hamilton”
Coming to real racing tracks like Bahrain and Shanghai: Qualified out in Q1.... To be honest we wont again really see where some of the midfield teams are until after Bahrain and Shanghai.....one thing that we can be sure about is that top 3 teams are still the top 3 teams and that Williams is in the back....other than that the midfield is extremely competitive and the positions could switch from track to track, depending on what kind of tracks the car suits best.
@@Balnazzardi Do you realize Norris and Sainz had very good speed traps during the whole of Saturday?? No massive drag issues here. There is no reason why McLaren can't perform well in Bahrain and China, and Baku... Specially since we don't know what Sainz can do with that McLaren yet...
@The ALONSISTA Im not saying that they cant, just saying that its perfectly legit scenario where we might see Mclaren or any other midfield team falling from "the best of the rest" 4th place to 9th place depending on track and how succesfull they are setting up the car and brining upgrades to each race and how well the car suits each track. Leaving out Stroll's an Sain'z laptimes, ALL of the midfield teams qualified within 1 second.....so while Im not saying that Mclaren couldnt be competitive on each and every track in the midfield, the margins are so small that given the track, setup and upgrades the pecking order in the midfield can easily change so that team from 4th place falls down to 9th in some race and back again or anywhere in between from race to race.
Think about it... Australia hasn't seen the Black Mercedes, Pink Mercedes, Green Mercedes, The White AlphaTauri, The Navy AlphaTauri, Or the Alpine, Or Haas, OR the new Williams
Last year in Australia: Mercedes 0.66 secs faster than Ferrari in quali. Next 3 races: Ferrari 0.17, 0.5 and 0.18 secs faster. Lets not panic juuust yet. However if Merc dominate the next 3 races too, then we can start panicing
We have to see what Ferrari's pace is at real racing tracks like Bahrain and Shanghai first before we can really say just how much far behind them they are... Keep in mind that Melbourne has always flattered some of the midfield teams like Haas and Mclaren last year (Haas has always been very strong in Melbourne for some reason), because its essentially a street track, the pecking order could be different especially in the midfield when moving on to Bahrain and Shanghai.

They brought an upgrade to the second test, that closed up the headline times. They had time to bridge the gap further after the first test and before this weekend. We’re all guessing. All that counts is what happens in quali and race day. Coming out of the blocks hard and fast means nothing.

wow the Honda powered Red Bull looks pretty competitive this year...

Hello there!
Oh hi
calm down guys this means nothing it's just OH WAIT
Daniel Still doesn’t mean nothing. Mercedes were faster in qualifying in the last 2 years here, and look how the races went.

Except for Williams. It doesn’t look good for Williams, at all.
@@PauliesWalnuts late oof
Fidestic F.O. I mean, I wasn’t wrong back then. Ferrari was still very quick at a lot of tracks last year. They were quick at Bahrain, Baku, Canada, Austria, Germany and many others in the second half of the season.
Their season would’ve looked a lot different had they been luckier (they suffered reliability issues constantly at their strongest tracks) and had their drivers not made so many mistakes.
@@PauliesWalnuts understandable.

Looks like Giovinazzi will have a nightmare season. That Alfa Romeo is a weapon in Kimi's hand.

This goes to show that Vettel way pretty good against Kimi for the past years. It wasn't because Kimi was getting old.

Lando Norris : "Now we can fight!"
Coming to real racing tracks like Bahrain and Shanghai:
Qualified out in Q1....
@@Balnazzardi true
Or the midfield Ferrari
Last year in Australia: Mercedes 0.66 secs faster than Ferrari in quali. Next 3 races: Ferrari 0.17, 0.5 and 0.18 secs faster. Lets not panic juuust yet. However if Merc dominate the next 3 races too, then we can start panicing
Hopefully they can, theres still 20 more races to go
We have to see what Ferrari's pace is at real racing tracks like Bahrain and Shanghai first before we can really say just how much far behind them they are...
Keep in mind that Melbourne has always flattered some of the midfield teams like Haas and Mclaren last year (Haas has always been very strong in Melbourne for some reason), because its essentially a street track, the pecking order could be different especially in the midfield when moving on to Bahrain and Shanghai.
Jens Pedersen .. there is a lot of race. Anything could be happen. The best driver, the best car, the best team and strategies and the good luck contribute for winning.
Just enjoy these F1 season.

Bottas 2.0 may be
121bham He’s had a fair share of team orders... was in first in a race last year and had to move out of the way for Hamilton. Not a top tier driver? I don’t love Mercedes but you have to hand it to Bottas for getting provisional today in a field of hungry drivers wanting to show off for the first race. It’s not all the car’s doing.
You mean the power of the car... An F2 driver could be put in that car and run similar lap times.
