BONUS VIDEO! I was going to keep this video for my personal collection but had an overwhelming response when I asked on my IG story if anyone would be interested in seeing a final video of the chicks before they left the nest. This is by far the best footage I could have captured of them! So expect a regular bike related video this thursday, and thanks as always for staying so active with me everyone. It is much appreciated! =)

I am feeding 10 day old abandoned Carolina wrens, and observed this behavior IRL while feeding them before I saw it here... nice.

Mine left yesterday! Mom had made them a beautiful nest in a potted plant on our deck. The last time I looked , over a week ago, they were still there. Yesterday gone! Mom and Dad are empty nesters now

that’s great! these birds have been coming back to this exact helmet for 5 years now! we just had another batch of babies leave last month, it’s usually 11-12 days every year from the time they hatch to the time they leave 😄

I've witnessed the parents showing the fledglings how to hunt and forage for the first 2-3 weeks after they get under wing... especially turning over leaves and debris to find bugs.

I just had a family of Wrens I was trying to protect and 8️⃣ survived! Mine left on day 12 at 7:30am. This vid was so thrilling for me to understand the action from inside the nest. Thank you for posting this incredible vid. 🤗

That's so awesome! We just had them leave our nest AGAIN for the 5th year straight in this helmet! They left again on the 11th day! Thanks for watching :)

They are so cute omfg. I have some wrens living in a piece of wood dug out by a woodpecker hung up on the side of my house. The babies are louder than the mother.

I loved it. I believe that is the same bird who made a nest in my garage! Do the parents make a ‘cricket’ type noise sometimes? And yes, all chicks turn to poop to keep the nest clean. And the Mom will bring food and take the poop away, sometimes on the same visit. Yes, I’m a nature nerd! Thanks, SALT. ☮️

I had a wren nest in a bike helmet, built so fast I did set up a camera (trail cam) to watch the process and this year it’s in a freezer I was about to bring to the curb (down a long dirt driveway) so I waited a day and a nest started…

I notice that the parent wren takes the excrement out... I wonder if it uses it for bait somewhere else, or just discards it. So, for example, take the excrement, use it to attract flies that lizards are then attracted to... or do they just discard it ??? I want to know.

Dang, last summer I started hearing an onslaught of annoying chirps throughout my upstairs. Turns out mama bird made a nest in my attic and the chicks would not stop chirping. I boxed them up and dumped all 6 baby birds into my backyard, but I forgot theres a cat who chills there a lot came out next morning and the birds were in shreds.
