What a magnificent engineering feat the NYC subway system is. The last time I was in New York I stayed in Queens and got on the 7 train at the 61st Woodside station. Brings back a lot of memories. Thanks for posting!
+wileyeiffel Agreed! It's an amazing system. I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
I know damn well I'm not the only one who was waiting to see that beautiful sight at 4:02
Dan mj
how beautiful ^_^ i live in the 103rd stop and this video reminds me how grateful i am to live un nyc and take this train to school or anywhere really
+Misheruchan Thanks!!! The 7 is an amazing line! :D
It's interesting. That switch just North of Queensborough Plaza is the 7 line's ONLY connection to the rest of the system. The Flushing Line is originally BMT territory.
+Tony Mirabella Yup!!!
Smart kid
@@DJHammersTrains hi
Thanks for this upload!
To be honest, since moving to Delaware, I have missed the New York Subway system as a whole and your videos give me life. Thanks so much for the uploads and keep up the amazing work!
+Christian Escobar Thanks so much man! I'm glad you enjoy my videos!!!!

Yay! My train! I've been waiting for someone to make a time lapse. Awesome video!
A week ago my cousin said, "Why would you watch videos of the subway." Today he sent me this link. Well done.
I rode the GG from Continental to Fulton Street every school day from 1963 to 1968. Front windows were all viewable. Some cars still had wicker seats. The conductor stood between cars.
I love the subway. It was always a comfortable place for me. I miss it here in SoCal.
My cousin reminded me, when we were 9 - 10 years old we'd take the subway to the city from Queens and no one would think that was scary, dangerous or unusual. Times change.
+Geoff Fox The subway is still a captivating and wonderful place! Many of those cars you remember riding have examples of them preserved in operable condition at the NY Transit Museum. You should definitely visit NYC sometime when vintage cars are running in service!!
Thanks for sharing! I love watch my old hometown roll by. 😀
+Andrew Grabon Glad you enjoyed!! The 7 line is a really special line. It connects so many different neighborhoods.
Nice! I'm surprised you found a clean window.
+gregorygrice Thanks! The R62As usually have pretty clean windows. Its the R42s that are notable for having really badly scratched up windows.
I like this i ride the r62 7 train year at 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 i see the r62 7 train
@@euromatrixkung final year for r62a's where 2017
2:53 XD Maybe I Should Try The Food There
@EMADUL HAQUE the station is in Jackson Heights I live near there lemme tell you the food is GOD it’s so good it makes me drool
I never tought NYC has so few buildings as I aways see in movies. Nice video.
This song is so catchy in this subway timelapse.
Been watching your time lapse videos, of the "C", "&" trains both directions, and I really appreciate the effort you put into editing your videos adding the station location helps to jog my memory even more, Thank you for doing that, DJ Hammers! :o)
Glad you enjoyed them!
Dj Hammers Really a lot of fun and educational for new Rail Fanning folks! :o)
The Music in this video SLAYYYYY 💅
Really cool! Thanks for sharing!
that why i love the 4 train
I always watched it going into the city from the front car from Flushing on an express.. Plus things have changed since I commuted to high school '71-'75. That day looked pretty cold!
+Evan Hammerman Nice! That express run is still a real quick one. I'm going to try to get a video of the express run too.
It was incredibly cold on that day. Temperatures were in the teens. That turned out to be good for me, as lower temperatures mean less haze.
beautiful, dreaming of going to NYC since childhood...
+marcysss93 Thanks so much! It's a wonderful place that you should visit!!
Same my moms from there so go figure
Love this song
I love working for TA. it's always fun operating on the 7 line, not so fun if you have a 5 tripper. nah it's still fun. keep posting the videos partner
+DnycAlchemist The 7 is nice, it's outside for a good portion and the underground part isn't monotonous. Thanks for watching man.
I just went from 74 St Broadway- Hudson Yards. It was fun.
At 0:42 seconds or so, between 5th Av and Grand Central, that tunnel off to the right is, I suspect now, the remnant of the old Steinway loop used for trolleys back in the early years, before there was a 7 train.
My God I love this song this song makes me dance
Nice work. When I did this with super8 it was during the two years that express service did not stop at 61st.
+trainluvr That was before my time, but I know exactly what you're talking about. I could only imagine how quick a trip from Main St would have been.
This is so cool. I saw our houses!!!
R62 trains are good if you use a phone for recording through the railfan window.
i totaly like the timelapse
Awesome videos, thanks for sharing
+DJEdPulido Glad you enjoyed!
How beautiful I live in Flushing Main Street
Such a nice time lapse about my borough ,
+Andre No thanks!!!
I used to live near where the train tracks elevated, 111 street stop . The train goes to the west side Hudson yards now and Times Square is the 2 nd stop
Great Video!
+Sascha Gilly Israel Thanks!!
Brilliant!
+William H. Baird Thanks so much!!! Be sure to share the link to the video with your friends. :D
You are actually filmed this in video? damn. i was like too smooth for timelapse
Still not used to seeing the yellow end bumper there. Here in Toronto they always have a tail track at least a train-length past the end of the last station on the line.
Song is Windy Blur
Just sent it to my grandson in Chicago Thanks
+Hank Hanau Great!!!
send to more videos this time lapse please!!!
I was commuting like that for 5,5 years! Sometimes it was nice, sometimes terrible!
+Maria Kowalska Hahaha nice! The 7 is very heavily crowded, so sometimes issues can occur.
Nice video! A suggestion is adding the name of each station when the train stops, like CTA videos! :)
+Guilherme Moura Good idea, I'll do that for the next video and see if I can edit this one.
I love really cool stuff. This is "maximum cool". My "peeps" stay by "J. Heights", so I've been on this one, and the "F" to get there. No need to film the "F". Super boring, but it gets you there. The "7" running outdoors can't be beat for a real "Big City" vibe. You captured it ace master perfect. Way to go.
+David Peters Thanks so much!
Nice clean train. I usually do this on the Express.
+TezLa Roe I'm gonna go back and try to get an express run.
+Dj Hammers awesome! can't wait to see it.
+TezLa Roe Here you go!
ua-cam.com/video/fx3mVJInzxg/v-deo.html
Cool
If only that trip home for me took as fast as this video was.
+rctw89 Hahaha we can all wish. When the new CBTC signalling starts operating, speeds should be a bit higher. I'd expect a time savings of 2 to 5 minutes.
I didn't realize how long the ride from 34th and 11th to Times Square is.
+Scott Cermak It's a really long stretch of trackage. There was supposed to be an intermediate station at 10th Ave/42nd St, but it was cut from the project to save money.
It's a shame too. We could really use more stations west of 8th avenue, especially around midtown
@@DJHammersTrains You can spot the scrapped station on the left side from 0:16 to 0:19 if you pause there.
There was still RFW windows on the r62a on the 7
ok so I'm pretty sure everyone knows the answer to this question and I do too but witch is better, WMTA or MTA ☺
i like it
+Mario Moranchel Thanks!!!
Can you do the 7 train time lapses to Manhattan plz
Great song too
+Thiago Souza Thanks!!
+Dj Hammers what is the song, really like it.
+paulie3jobs Ketsa - Windy Blur
+Dj Hammers Thanks...
I wish I can take the 7 train 🚂
muy bueno !!!!!
+Thel narita Thanks!!! Be sure to share the video link so others can watch!
Thel narita
Yea, 0.25 playback speed is okay at least.
Edit: it's actually really good
It would have been an even better video if you were going from flushing to Manhattan, still a fantastic one. Thank you
+Thiago Souza I'm gonna try again to get a Manhattan bound version. Unfortunately, there are fewer trains with front windows open to passengers going in that direction.
When I first started watching I felt it would have been better to start from Flushing, but ending there left me with a good feeling (I grew up there) so I ended up loving it as is. Good job.

0:16 Pause buffer video. Is that 10th AV station on the left side?
Edit: I also caught an exit. It's probably what was supposed to be 10th Avenue station.
British Enough I’m pretty sure it is 10th av. 😱😱 Next new station spoiler.....
What are those blue lights in tunnels?
To see the Mets game
My subway line 🤓
There's a simulator which recreates the line 7 during the 1970's. If you have a gaming pc, I highly recommend it. Pretty accurate. Plus you drive the redbird! Offers both local and express services.

What’s the first station? Because I see 4 in manhatten
AzAzGod 34 Street- 11 Avenue- Hudson Yards
This must be faked. The train doesn't constantly get stuck in tunnels with a "momentary delay because of train traffic ahead of us". What sort of subway train is this?
+David Moore I must have gotten lucky then, haha. The person in charge of dispatching the 7 line up in Rail Control Center must have been on his game that day.
Conductors have to fabricate reasons for delay. They don't really know anything much, other than the red signal that has been prolonged.
Wdym? I never experience a "momentary delay"
Bruh it's not fake
It’s not gwttting “stuck in the tunnels” it’s called train signal lights where it controls trains from not crashing into each other red signal Meens hold yellow means keep going at slow speeds and green means continue at same speeds as always DONT think it’s lucky it just means that at rush hour there is more trains and how to control train traffic is hard to do don’t say someone is lucky when rush hour isn’t going on then trains move super fast
can I use this as a video of mine too?
Nice timelapse! what train were you riding?
+I'll take a potato chip.... And eat it! This was on an R62A 7 train.
Different than the new huge 34 street station

Watch this at .25 speed and ride the train at normal speed.
Alex Mitchell this is a 10x timelapse. If this was at 2x speed. Then 0.25 would be normal speed
Its sad the R62A 7 trains stoped service :(
when are you time lapse on 2 3 train
Nice video. How did you stabilize the camera?
+Dominic Disla Thanks! I used a suction cup mounted GoPro.
I can’t find the ro scale models
I've taken the (7) train 3 times
rafael asuncionXD You should ride it much more often, though. That train whose views have been taken has only 2 left! Also, the 7 is probably the most reliable of all the trains, since it comes in 4 minute intervials, and in peak rush hours, 4PM to 7PM, it comes in 45 second intervials, and you can choose to take the 7 express or local.
I have a task from my school, about a visualization of my dreams, and I want to use this video as an illustration. can I use it? i promise, i will give a credit in the end of this video...
Selma Fatimah
I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t mind. If you credit him all the kids will be like, “OH I LIEK THAT CHANNEL!”
Good advertising.
hai sir.. what camera did you use?? thanks you
+DreamBig ang I used a Go Pro Hero4 Black
The 34th st station is rather reminiscent of a subway station in DC
Brian Fang well DC is try to copy MTA. because look at it. why do all of there trains have something very similar to MTA. becieds the fact that they also have Kawasaki trains. Look at the 7000 series and the R160s R143s and R179s
hey DJ what's going on with the R179? I've been asking supervision but they all seem clueless, do you?
+DnycAlchemist The R179 pilot train is under construction, should be delivered sometime around summer 2016 to winter 2017. Bombardier's been having a lot of trouble with the order. The R179s are only gonna replace the R42s, the R32s will stay to increase the amount of cars for the Second Avenue Subway and the W line when it comes back, as well as to increase service frequency.
Car equipment is also taking a look at the structural integrity of the R32 and R46 cars. They're worried about those ripples in the sides of the R46s. It's not looking good for the R46 cars at all right now. There's a chance that when the R211s come in, the R46s will be retired and some R32s may even stay after the R211s!
Did you just was the W train will be brought back. 😶😶😶
+hockeyboss 689 Something has to replace the Q line in Astoria when it gets rerouted to SAS. There isn't enough capacity at Gold St interlocking to increase N service to compensate for the removal of Q service to Astoria.
+Dj Hammers true but why not just use the w on SAS.
It's a long ride but still the shortest train line in nyc (besides shuttles)
adsnyd57 isn't the L train the shortest
adsnyd57 the L train and 7 train is around the same, but in 2019 they will close the Caniarse tunnel, making the 7 the shortest.
DJ? Just how many sets of R62A trains are left on the 7? I know the original date was to be sometime in February next month. Is this still true or maybe just a bit longer? Thanks!
+John Kaufmann There are very few sets of R62As left on the 7. Maybe around 6 sets.
+Dj Hammers Thanks. Great Video btw. R.I.P. Flushing Line RFW very soon as well as A division. Sad. At least we will still have the R32 & R42 still around!
Yeah, I wouldn't give it more than a month at most before they're all gone.

I have a question. What is the longest line on the mta? Like in miles. For us in Chicago we have two CTA L Lines that are equally long. The Red and Blue Lines are the longest line here. The Red Line goes from the border of Chicago and Evanston to the far south side of Chicago but there's plans on extending it to 130th Street where the southern border of Chicago is. The Blue Line goes from Forest Park a suburb of Chicago to O'Hare International Airport. Both lines are really long and they run 24 hours a day. In downtown you can transfer between them at Jackson Stop or go through the Galley 36 at Lake and State to the Washington Blue Line Stop.
+briansivley2001 Easily the A line on the IND division. Runs all the way from the northwestern tip of Manhattan down to the Far Rockaway, a Brooklyn barrier island bordering Long Island.
+Asop622 Wow! That's a long journey lol. If I did it I would have fun riding it.
+briansilvey2001 The longest line in the MTA is the "A" Train. It goes from Inwood 207th Street in manhattan, to Either Rockaway Park Beach 116th Street, Lefferts Boulevard, or Far Rockaway. It's a huge line, and an Express train 8th Avenue and in Brooklyn leading straight to. either of the Terminus. Late nights they run local from Inwood to Far Rockaway only.
+briansivley2001 i wouldn't recommend it the line travel to some pretty rough neighborhoods
+ProStealthSniper Productions That's correct. It's a very long line.
Looks like one of the intermediate cars got put on the front.
+Matthias Hess The train that I was on was made up of all R62A single cars, instead of the usual two sets of 5-car R62A units sandwiching one R62A single car.
I see my grandma house 😬😬😬😬
Would you do an R32 C time lapse?
+Nikolai Micallef I plan on doing one for as many lines as I can.
+Nikolai Micallef I uploaded an R32 C time lapse today.
R.i.p 7 train rfw
Reasons:
Covid
No more R62as on the 7
Lol. The Gothamist fucked up saying your video was the morning commute, not the afternoon. Oh well. Btw, was that the afternoon of the broken rail at Main Street?
+John Kaufmann This was taken right after the broken rail issue at Main St was fixed.
I've heard you will never see a numbered train at a lettered platform is that true
Call the Metropolitan Government and ask them, they own the whole subway program.
Daniel Patterson Well, yes that is true. The numbered trains (1,2,3,4,5,6,7) have smaller tracks so their tracks are smaller. The lettered trains (A, B, C, just to name a few), have larger trains and larger tracks. They are more efficent to carry passengers. There's a big difference since if you try to put a number train to an alphabet train, they just won't fit!!! Cool fact: The number trains have more passengers carried to the point where they are constantly delayed, (expecially the Lexingon Ave. Line(4,5,6trains)) You might be wondering, like WHY don't you just make both tracks equal in size and so will the trains?!?!?! But the thing is that the cost is extremely expensive. The newly added 2nd ave subway with the Q train going uptown by 2 miles took around 9 billion dollars. That is crazy. Also, the number trains and alphebet trains used to be two different companies, until they merged into one, called the MTA.
The other 7 line goes the same way.
When you ride the subway you are probably traveling in a tunnel built by people that are dead now
LOL youcan see my school on the right side of 33rd street
Narwhalsss You go to Aviation High?

Lloyd Wright
ok

Its just terrible that after the MTA did these stations over in Queens, the animals ruined them. They scratched into the glass block on the platform and all the graffiti. Why bother repairing it. What makes one think that they are entitled to destroy things like this?
Go 7 train timelapse Manhattan local
Already did a vid about that
Let's go Mets!
+John Sochacki Yup!! I'll have some awesome 7 line footage in early April! :D
