Just got back home to Chicago after spending the past week in Mbeya. It's beautiful and a different life there--even compared to Dar--and I loved every minute of it. I was fortunate enough to be with a Swahili-speaking local, so that definitely helped.

Come on guys it's common knowledge that the Southern part of Africa is the best of Africa!! 🙌🏾 Julian knows the truth😁 but he's trying not to offend East Africans lol 🇿🇲🇧🇼🇿🇦🇿🇼🇳🇦🇲🇿🇲🇼🇸🇿🇦🇴👌🏾

I think what they're trying to say is the "African" vibe starts after the south. Vibe meaning the noise, people everywhere, food being sold everywhere.

Mabuyu are from the baobab tree. The baobab tree is called mbuyu in Swahili. The ones you bought are coated with food colour and sugar I think. In English you can say baobab fruit

14:44 when someone can't understand you, it's easier to use a different word or reconstruct your sentence as it may just be the word you're using that they find unfamiliar. Could have just said "which one do you like".

If someone has a job, which is crucial to support them and their family, they should def put more effort into it; unfortunately, quality and customer service are 2 almost non-existent things in Africa. I was eating an ice cream once in a mall in Ghana and some of the ice cream fell on the floor; the cleaner came to me and asked why I am littering?! It's not like I spent money on the ice so that I then drop it on the floor on purpose? Even if I don't consider her lack of common sense, the reality is that she wouldn't have a job if people wouldn't litter (on purpose or not). Even my ex-who is Ghanaian herself-got angry with the cleaner😅

The good thing about East Africa (Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda) - You will never run out of nice and attractive women, and choices, complete packages with beauty, brains and character. Southern Africa has a lot of drought. You are forced to settle with undesirables. In the end it's not the buildings and infrastructure that matter, but the people around you.

Its Tanzania not Tan zania and not mabuyu in Tanzania we call it ubuyu. Mabuyu for Kenyans and the Tuktuk are called bajaji in Tanzania.chips mayai its called zege. The ugali texture is different in different regions of Tanzania, some make it really hard to fill them up for the day so the harder the more filling. The soft texture you will find mainly in the coastal areas. Having a fly that is just disgusting you should have told the waiter by pointing out, I know he was lost when you were asking about his favourite meal. Some of my people still struggle with English so I'll apologise in advance but nice to see Julian is excited with my beautiful country though I don't come from that part of Tanzania

Such camaraderie between Miss Josey and Julian. They make everything seem so happy and fun. Not even hard feelings when some woman twerked her butt into Julian, but, anyway he went home with Miss Josey.

Ugandan school students learn some elementary Swahili in school, but it isn't in common usage in Uganda at all. The working languages in Uganda are English and Luganda.
Josie speaks English, Luganda, and her tribal language of Rutooru.
