The greatest thing I ever came to realize about this song is that while it is titled Ezio's family, it doesn't mean his direct or indirect family, but the brotherhood and the creed itself. That's why you will find a track labeled (or similar) Ezio's family in every AC game. Each one is a part of the assassin family, but each with their own personal style.

Venice rooftops is amazing as well. This game has a freaking phenomenal OST. There is also a version that transitions from Ezios family to Venice rooftops which is amazing. The best part as well, is that most games in the series have amazing soundtracks as well, so it's not like it was just a one-hit wonder or something.

Out of all the videogames Ive played, I think Assassin's Creed is the only series where I dedicated so much time looking up the names of the songs and soundtracks they composed for the games. Sometimes, it's the music during moments of the games, movies, or TV episodes that make it so memorable and there will always be a special place for a song like this in my heart.
Its safe to say that this song is what I'd call the heart and soul of the AC series. It just encompasses everything about it. Jesper Kyd just made a song that sits firmly in gaming music history as one of the best songs.
Back when it first came out, this song transcended the realm of gaming music and felt like something more, something truly special. Credit to Jesper Kyd for composing this hauntingly beautiful masterpiece.
you're analysis is so thoughtful, i also feel like the composition almost encapsulates the feelings of Ezio so well, from the innocent vocals that take a haunting turn, to the anger and determination of the electric guitar and under it all is this very subtle acoustic guitar riff that shows the melancholy sensitive being beneath all the anger and pain, overall its basically an epic, and depending what mood you're in can make you cry tears of joy from admiring the beauty of lives and the incredible amount of interesting people we meet, or it can make you weep out of sadness for all the pain you've been dealt
This song is with me since I was little, so nostalgic. I love your genuine reaction to this. Music from AC games is otherworldly. There's literally nothing like these soundtracks. Even new AC games have mindblowing and beautiful music. Thank you
Love that they plays this song not only in the intro scene, but also when Ezio dons the Assassins Robes for the first time. You truly feel like you are watching the birth of a legend. “It is a good life we lead, brother.” “The best. May it never change.” “And may it never change us..” Ubisoft presents ASSASSIN’S CREED II
"Ezio's Family"... Sounds like seeing fields of golden wheat you can no more walk towards to. Like lost innocence and bittersweet memories. The more you play, the more different feelings become attached to this theme. "Earth" and "Venice Rooftops" try for different moods (and it's **very** hard for me to choose a favourite between them) but they all started here. In my perception, the theme's name has a double meaning... Both for the Auditore's family and the assassins, who are in a way his found family.

Ezio has to grow up, from being an irresponsible and carefree boy roaming the streets of Florence, to a man bereaved by the death of his family, devoting his life to bringing them justice and preventing this from happening to anyone else, all at the drop of a hat.

I've heard this many a times and I cry everytime I hear this piece😂It gives me so many emotions/nostalgia it hurts to listen to. Maybe it has to do with this being my favorite game and Ezio being my fave character of all time. What I always think of as I listen to this is Ezio's journey, his fall and his rise, the life he leads, the lessons he learns and how in the end, he becomes a very wise man. We got to watch him grow up😢
Just fantastic, that's all there is to say about it. This Music is with me on every Playlist, whether in the Car, at Home or when I'm just walking the Dogs
This song pulls the relevant emotions and memories out of me against my will, not that I'm fighting them really. I was 13 or so when I first played AC2, it was my first of the series, and the tragedy that strikes Ezio was a serious shock to me, like I was unaware of that kind of tragedy at the time. Especially due to similarities between Ezio's family and mine, it was disorientating to see them warped and broken in that way, I couldn't help but imagine something like that striking my siblings and parents. Years later and hearing the tune has never failed to stop me in my tracks, just to listen and feel those things again. A genuine masterpiece in our time. A truly special piece of art.
I'm just beginning to watch your walkthrough and I'm loving it. Assassin's creed 2 was the first AC game I ever play and each time I get to hear Ezio's Family I get goosebumps
I can’t add anything more versus what you said. The song… means something now and it always will, regardless of when you hear it in any games to come. And thank you, as always, not just for playing, but inspiring.
It's so beautiful. It's speaks to it's perfection that's it's the melody they chose to continue throughout the whole AC series. Every time I hear the melody in it's various forms through the years, I get teary-eyed and chills.
This song is a miracle. I think the next song you like will be (although all of AC are beautiful) is the theme from AC Revelations. (my favorite) I think you'll like it when you get to this part of the game. It touches a lot. You perceive a song differently knowing the characters and their story, and not listening blindly without knowing anything. Your reactions are very honest and I love them. A beautiful adventure awaits you and I wish you a lot of fun and probably many sad experiences.
Amazing how empowering music can impact on a person. When it's put together so masterfully. You could feel the heart, and soul that went into a song. Being emotionally drawn to music is a natural thing though at least for me.
For those curious about who is the singer in this track, it's Ben del Maestro , (then) a young boy, now a grown man.. He also sang for Lord of the Rings movies , especially remarked in " The battle of plennor fields " when rohirrims charge the orcs at the battle of minas tirith at the end of the movie . Just saying this because Meg said "her voice " when it's a him . fun fact .
I don't know if there's a single song from gaming that has impacted me as much as this one. I come back to it every couple months. I havent really followed the AC games after AC2, but for some reason I always think of this song from time to time.
This is kind of like how The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind theme became the main theme for each new Elder Scrolls game just slightly reworked to suit the new games setting and culture. The other AC games of course have their own themes with Black Flags still living in my mind. Even though I played AC1 and AC2 long before Black Flag the soundtrack to that game is slightly more memorable for me. You'll love all the games music with Brotherhood and Revelations being composed by AC2 composer Jesper Kyd. Idk why but maybe because I was 13 when Black Flag came out so I was alot older and in that special time of you're teenage years that the game stuck with me alot more. Also was excited for my new next gen console as well so it was a special time not to mention GTA V being released as well. Remember getting Unity the next year and crying when my brother took it and I got Sunset Overdrive which is amazing but I wanted Unity.
Honestly, I’m very excited for you to play all of the games, but I don’t envy your immense task. I was lucky enough to keep up with the games for a while, but playing them all from start to finish is a huge undertaking. I’m impressed and excited for it!
Fun fact, Jesper Kyd returned for the most recent game, Valhalla, which serves as an end-cap on many storylines of the first “saga” of the series. His music returning is the icing on the cake for me. It feels like Avengers: Endgame lol.
It would be incredible that at the beginning of each game you react to their themes and to the versions of ezio family, this masterpiece basically became assassins creed's anthem
The fact that this song became universal in all the other games going forward is astounding its even more amazing how they even change it slightly in those next few games to fit the theme
Each game in the series tends to pick a particular musical direction based off of either the time period, the culture, or a mix of both. The instrumentation will subtly change to meet the setting and Ezio's Family, the main theme of the franchise, will also subtly change along with the settings. It's an interesting detail to keep an ear out for as you move forward.
Just started to follow you! The past year, I decided to do the same and play through all the games (first time). It's now one of my favourite franchises (I love ALL of the games)! Enjoy the ride 🥰 This song never gets old for me and I love how its become the main theme ❤️ It adds to the connection in all the games. 🥺
Assassin's creed the ezio collection will forever be preserved in time as the pinnacle of assassin's Creed. What i would give to play them for the first time again
You can't not love Ezio's Family. Thank you for listening to Jesper Kyd's one of the best works. Hoping, like Ezio you too can come to terms with Petruccio, Federico and Giovanni's deaths... eventually. I mentioned (in ep 1 of AC2) that there exists a Novelization of the Ezio's story called Assassin's Creed: Renaissance. If you decide to read it then, be sure to pace it accordingly or you will be spoiled of events that will happen in the game. There's a few minor differences from what's in the game to what's in the book (till now) - In the game you can see 4 nooses, one for Ezio too, but in the book there's only three. - In the game, everyone is executed simultaneously, while in the book first Petruccio, then Federico and then Giovanni are executed. - This detail is slightly important, Remember the pigeon coop from where Ezio picked up a letter for Giovanni? In the book there's some graffiti there mentioning the following things. "He that increaseth Knowledge, increaseth Sorrow." "Where is the Prophet?" The first is Al-Mualim's final words to Altair, the second... you'll find out. Thanks for playing the series and even going so far as to react to other stuff!
This evolved into the defacto theme of Assasins creed, almost every game has a version of Ezios Family in it, I love Rouges version a lot but you’ll get to that eventually.
In that moment, the hanging, Ezio went from carefree boy to a man full of resolve and driven to avenge his father and brothers. I agree that this theme encapsulates that very well.
The music of the AC series is fantastic There is an official assassins creed symphony orchestra that tours around the world playing the music, I was booked to go see them here in Glasgow a couple of years back but covid lockdowns happened a month and a half before the show fyi they are playing in Paris in a couple of days, (29th Oct) and playing in Barcelona in May 2023 Also wasn't episode 4 already up before, I was about to start it but now it's not there and a video is now "unavailable" in the playlist
beautiful reaction, oh preciosa, it's just beginning and there is a long road of emotions to explore. mystery, passion, epicness, all accompanied by beautiful soundtracks. good journey.🙌

Absolutely Love ♥Ezio's Family♥!! Still gives me chills and that lump in the throat everytime I listen to it. If you're loving it so much, then I suggest you listen to the end credits song that starts at the end of Assassin's Creed Brotherhood. It's a mix of Ezio's Family, Venice Rooftops, & Earth, I believe. You'll love it.
I listen to it everyday while jogging. The only characters I have cried for in games are Ezio, Kratos and Joel. Maybe because we see them grow. But unlike kratos and Joel we are introduced to ezio when he was a baby.

I didn't realize how emotional/impactful this song was until the mirage trailer 😍🔥
We got to watch him grow up😢
Venice rooftops is number one for me!
So epic!
Just fantastic, that's all there is to say about it. This Music is with me on every Playlist, whether in the Car, at Home or when I'm just walking the Dogs
3:51 always my reaction to this part. Including lifting up my hand for an air guitar riff :)
14 years later and this song still has me tearing up when I really listen to it. AC2 was such a special game.
It's so beautiful. It's speaks to it's perfection that's it's the melody they chose to continue throughout the whole AC series. Every time I hear the melody in it's various forms through the years, I get teary-eyed and chills.
"It's a good life we lead brother."
"The best. May it never change."
"And may it never change us."
Yes! YES. It surprises me how little people mention Revelations in general. I'm looking forward to her reaction to it.
Even after so long I still get chills every single time I hear any variant of this theme
Amazing how empowering music can impact on a person. When it's put together so masterfully. You could feel the heart, and soul that went into a song. Being emotionally drawn to music is a natural thing though at least for me.
I love how these games have a musical direction that fits the setting and time.
I honestly tear up and always have goosebumps every single time I listen to that soundtrack - it really is an absolute masterpiece.
Just saying this because Meg said "her voice " when it's a him . fun fact .
This song is so beautiful, makes me cry every time.
I get chills every time I hear ezios family it always takes me back to this moments and makes me want to replay the trilogy
Glad you got to experience the game, it’s got one of the few pieces of music that can make you cry out of sheer beauty. A true and rare masterpiece.
I don't know if there's a single song from gaming that has impacted me as much as this one. I come back to it every couple months. I havent really followed the AC games after AC2, but for some reason I always think of this song from time to time.
I love that you included this in the playlist
Such beautiful and elegant music. One of the things I love about AC is how wonderful their soundtrack is
The track that set the course of assassin's Creed forever 😍😌
Honestly, I’m very excited for you to play all of the games, but I don’t envy your immense task. I was lucky enough to keep up with the games for a while, but playing them all from start to finish is a huge undertaking. I’m impressed and excited for it!
Just as awesome as always. Thanks for for doing this "MegMage ✨️👏
From Al Assassin's creed characters, Ezio is my favourite by far
Fun fact, Jesper Kyd returned for the most recent game, Valhalla, which serves as an end-cap on many storylines of the first “saga” of the series. His music returning is the icing on the cake for me. It feels like Avengers: Endgame lol.
3:52 that smile you had when you heard the guitar was awesome, it put a smile on my face as well
It would be incredible that at the beginning of each game you react to their themes and to the versions of ezio family, this masterpiece basically became assassins creed's anthem
It also plays when you got the assassin’s robes.
Just started to follow you! The past year, I decided to do the same and play through all the games (first time). It's now one of my favourite franchises (I love ALL of the games)! Enjoy the ride 🥰
This song never gets old for me and I love how its become the main theme ❤️ It adds to the connection in all the games. 🥺
Pretty sure this song is one of the most popular video game themes there is. It's gotta be up there with the Halo theme.
I can't say how much I appreciate that you are gonna play through all the Assassin's Creed games 😃
Assassin's creed the ezio collection will forever be preserved in time as the pinnacle of assassin's Creed. What i would give to play them for the first time again
This one theme song carried the soul of assassin's creed games will....this will always be iconic ❤️✨
There's a few minor differences from what's in the game to what's in the book (till now)
- In the game you can see 4 nooses, one for Ezio too, but in the book there's only three.
"He that increaseth Knowledge, increaseth Sorrow."
"Where is the Prophet?"
The first is Al-Mualim's final words to Altair, the second... you'll find out.
I'm someone listen this song carefully he or she would definitely cry 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺 I love assassin's ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
The music of the AC series is fantastic
There is an official assassins creed symphony orchestra that tours around the world playing the music, I was booked to go see them here in Glasgow a couple of years back but covid lockdowns happened a month and a half before the show
fyi they are playing in Paris in a couple of days, (29th Oct) and playing in Barcelona in May 2023
Also wasn't episode 4 already up before, I was about to start it but now it's not there and a video is now "unavailable" in the playlist
beautiful reaction, oh preciosa, it's just beginning and there is a long road of emotions to explore. mystery, passion, epicness, all accompanied by beautiful soundtracks. good journey.🙌
Chills every damn time ...
I know girl! This song is so beautiful! It gives such a religious, suspenseful, and also sad vibe to it. This sound track gives such a amazing vibe for Ezio’s story. It kinda gives the vibe for the whole story of Ezio. It’s a masterpiece. They did SO GOOD with this. I can’t stop listening to it.
i have loved this for a long time, one of my first music albums i bought that related to a game. I want to go back and play this now
Ezio is the best AC char of All Times AC 2 MASTERPIECE
This song is so nostalgic, used to play this game every school night
It is a good life we lead brother
The best
May it never change and never change us
AC2's entire OST is simply amazing. "Sanctuary" is particularly beautiful to me. Jesper Kyd is a genius.
Beautiful times when Ubisoft made good games
This and Salvation of Forli are my favorites songs in AC2, masterpieces.
Jesper Kyd is an amazing composer. Check out his work in Warhammer Vermintide and Warhammer Darktide.
I listen to it everyday while jogging.
The only characters I have cried for in games are Ezio, Kratos and Joel. Maybe because we see them grow. But unlike kratos and Joel we are introduced to ezio when he was a baby.
Also fun fact! You already heard ezios family in the assassins creed mirage trailer.
Thiis is also in AC mirage trailer at the end. OH btw you should definitely do all the cinamatic trailer reaction!!
I have never played any of these older AC games. But I love this song
You know it’s legendary when later games that take place hundreds of years before STILL have Ezio’s Family theme
Yes girl AC is very very special...glad your understanding and feeling all I felt years ago ..😚..hugs..
how do human beings even create this
Just so you know; Every Assassin's Creed has their own rendition of Ezio's Family. It has become such a staple of the franchise.
Looking forward to your Lineage reaction! IIRC you wanted to do that after completing the first sequence.
6:55 Oh honey, we cry. We've been crying for 15 years. Still.
