    It was great seeing how you changed the springs they worked. I think you should know that by leveling the crank handle in the front it will come out and you will lose it. Looks great.

    I know its an older video but may help someone now or in the future,that spring in the bottom is a buffer spring,if it gets to surging you can loosen the lock nut and turn it in a little at a time until it smoothes out,the on on top of governor is engine speed adjustment,turning it out a little at a time will increase speed,turning it in will decrease governed engine RPM!

      Thanks for the info. Got a Super AV that's doing some surging at higher RPM. Thought it was in the carb, but haven't addressed the issue yet.

    I have just had same problem on my C. Do you have to pull the whole front end off to get to that, or can it be done without pulling the radiator?

    Good fix, but you're going to break more than your tractor if you keep hand cranking it like that! If that ever kicks back on you, you're going to lose an arm, or worse. I've felt kickback - even a small 20 hp engine will ruin your day. 6:00 position, a sharp 1/4 turn lift - pull the crank out and repeat if need be. That's all it needs to start. NEVER go all the way around or down. If it kicks, it'll just pull down and away from you.

    What would cause that spring to break? Just being old? Maybe that bad bearing is causing it to wear? Nice tractor and video.

    • @hitandmissfits171
      @hitandmissfits171  7 років тому

      Hey Jeff, the spring broke because of corrosion on the spring. All tractor engines and transmissions collect condensation, and after 80 years that takes a toll on the rather unprotected spring-steel. The bearing actually would never have anything to do with the spring wear. Thanks for watching Man!! : )

    We had my Dads A engine rebuilt at the local community college and got it back runs great but seems like it has no power while driving around the yard in ea gear you think it could be a Governor issue? It idles and throttles ok just not very much power
    It seems

    you didn't break it time broke it.did you make a gasket or did you use the old one? when you flushed her out I noticed water didn't come out real good does it have a thermostat in it? If you ever rebuild the tractor you can replace the ball bearings in the governor.It sure does start easy. keep your vids coming. thanks!

    • @hitandmissfits171
      @hitandmissfits171  7 років тому

      Na, I just used the old one, it came off intact and in very good shape, and she doesn't drip a drop of oil!! The water actually came out fine, the power washer is more pressure rather than volume, and there is no thermostat, water pump or anything, it's just good old thermo-syphon, and the tractor never ran hot. Yeah she starts pretty good!! Thanks for watching!! : )
