Basically he and his siblings got abused my his mom so bad that his brother tried to kill their mom. This allowed them to finally be able to live with their dad. Sue (the oc’s name) couldn’t get over his trauma and didn’t get the help needed to do so which caused him to get worse overtime and accidentally(sometimes purposely) put himself in bad situations. These put him in bad mental spaces where he harms himself in every way possible. But then one day while out of the house for once sue found this guy who’s passed out on the side of the road and injured. He brings him to the hospital then they become friends and eventually help each other so they get their happy endings :D
