The Blue Beetle was the very first model kit I ever built. That was in 1968, when I was a kid. I used an entire tube of Tester's glue to build it! (My modeling skills have improved since.) Thank you for bringing back good memories.

I remember this kit.nice build.from 45 years ago.but one ove kits I remember having was called the blue deuce I still have my instruction sheet.from back then.
Ken, thanks for sharing those memories. What was the kit number on that Blue Deuce model? -Doug
This kit is one of my all time favorites. I built my 1st one when it was a brand new release. I was 11. What was great about this model (especially for an 11 year old) was that you really didn't have to paint it. It looked absolutely terrific to me. I have recently built 3 more! Just some minor paint work and detailing. Who says that you can't go back in time?🙂

I replicated a Blue Beetle some years ago, using a later issue Monogram kit, and scrounged through my parts boxes for the other stuff I needed. Failing to match the original color, I settled for GM Engine Blue. It’s fairly close. The valve covers that are plain said “CADILLAC” in the original kit. I used a bit of license to suit my taste, but it’s pretty faithful to the original kit.
Eric, we admire your dedication to task. It's all about the subject! Thanks for sharing and please subscribe if you haven't already, to help us continue our mission to help more modelers! -Doug
Hardest kit I ever had as a kid (60s) was an JAG XKE... just the suspension had like 30 parts.
