One of my favorite encounters with Christ was when I was being condemned by Satan and feeling like God will not welcome me. But Christ filled my mind with the realization that God atoned for my sins! Though I was still a sinner, _Christ died for me_
I struggled with this for a while. I began to hate god. It wasn’t until I realized that Christ did it all for me. I was asking questions like “am I elect”? “Am I chosen”? Asking god like “why did you not choose me”? Or “why won’t you save me”? But I realized that all those thoughts were coming from satan. Gotta remember doubt comes from Satan himself. ”There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.“ Romans 8:1 ESV
I had all my emotions squashed at an early age and I do mean "all". Even now, at 66 yrs.old, I have to pray and ask the Lord..." how am I supposed to feel about this, Lord, how am I supposed to process this"? This, right here, this teaching, is one way He uses for me. Thank you.
Thats wonderful that God has brought you to an emotional dependance on Him. I also do that. Because iam an overemotional person. What a wonderful beauty .
I really love it when Michael Durham speaks to our Belief in relationship to our emotions & feelings. There is a difference between searching for GOD & Belief in Him isn’t a high or a seeking a feeling than what come organically out of our Love & Awe of that KNOWING He is with me and died for me. To BE BORN AGAIN has changed me from everything I used to be to who He created me to be for HIM. He has a plan & purpose for each of us.
There are times where I’m not grieved. There was a time last week or so where I went to a wedding and someone asked me if I wanted to eat, I told them I ate before I came but that was a lie. I don’t know why I said that, and it was the first thing I thought of to say. I realized immediately that I lied and that what I did was a sin but I wasn’t extremely grieved or broken-hearted over it like a lot of people say it ought to be. That scared me and while I was sitting down I wondered why I wasn’t more torn up over what I had just done. There are moments like that when I understand that what I did is wrong, I don’t like what I did, I know GOD definitely doesn’t like what I did, and I never want to do it again, but I don’t feel absolutely torn over it. My lack of reaction toward my sin makes me feel like apathetic towards my sin, and it should not be like that. But I’ve been born again through, and I resonated with the latter half of the video about not being able to do and enjoy the same sins you’ve done before you were saved without the sense that you’re doing wrong and shame. Is there in issue regarding this lack of emotion I feel at times and am disappointed in, or is that exactly what this video was talking about?
You said that you don't enjoy your old sins and that you didn't like the lie you told. I wouldn't doubt your salvation just because you didn't feel a burst of emotion at a sin that's relatively small (because small sins often aren't felt as much as sins that really harm a person). Your fear of not being heartbroken seems to be a fear of God, knowing that liking sin will lead to death. Unbelievers don't fear God but cast that fear away, and they continue in sin. If you want to have more care for not sinning, look at it from a different perspective. For example, one might be inclined to think that a little lie doesn't do much harm, so it isn't that bad. However, it only took one sin for Adam and Eve to bring a curse upon the world. Think of a little lie instead as an action that makes you less trustworthy and brings shame to God in that his child is willing to break his commandments. Then, believing that your little lie is terrible, you will gain a new view of sin, and emotions will likely follow. Emotions intensify desire and knowledge.
I have no idea when or if I was saved (within 5 yrs), but I keep begging for it, and I'm not going anywhere. I love the truth, and I believe I love God.
I realized 2 months ago that i'm not truly converted, born again, since then i've been trying to do something about it. I'm afraid that, i feel like i'm falling into apostasy, or that i comitted blasphemy against the Holy Ghost; i feel like there's no more hope. I try to look to Christ (maybe i'm not really trying..) but nothing happens in my heart, it doesn't want to, my heart is so wicked and hard that the worst of the serial killers could have a more loving heart than i do. I know that we need to believe in our hearts that Christ is our Savior, but it's just so hard to believe, to *truly* believe. It's my fault and no one's to blame, but i just want to change this, to truly have conviction of my sin and repent. I'm even hesitant of saying these words because i know that in my heart i don't truly desire this, but something inside tells me i shouldn't give up from this "desire". Is there anything possible? How can i believe in Jesus, truly, trust in Him and have my affections changed? I want to come closer to Him but i'm afraid i can't anymore because of my sins, that i messed around so much with God's grace, that this is simply a deed of my flesh and i'm condemned forever. May God bless you all and help us by His grace in these harsh times
Hi if you want you can message me, I have a email on my channel about page, UA-cam is picky about leaving emails in comment sections lol, I've been in a similar place where you are and God is holy but his Holiness leads him to be gracious, don't loose heart. @JD Sorry for the late reply friend, took some time to try figuring things out. i'll try to have that in mind, i guess i'm really focusing too much on myself. i'm glad you're a new person now, being given a second chance when you did everything wrong is such a blessing, may God bless you in this new path! 🌟 I guess my view of Jesus may be twisted, i want to come to Him with faith and trust but i feel like my sins are getting in the way. Recognizing that He is the Savior of the world maybe is the first step I learned with my pastor that usually these kind of thoughts may be the devil trying to bring us down, but i tell you that if Christ is your treasure above all things, is your hiding and safe place, and that He is what your heart desires, you surely are born again! Reading 1 john may help you figure it out ^_^ and you're right, everyone is different and we change with time as we are growing in faith and in grace. I'll try, i have many thoughts telling me that it is too late or that i can't change, i feel way too stubborn for that. But, i have to try, to push beyond my limits (or the ones that i have put mentally) so i can improve, and with the help of the Holy Spirit i can do it. I need to give it all to Him, to truly put it in His hands and let it go. I'm just afraid of getting into such a point where i'm so numb my sins turned into something "normal" y'know? I see that you only had trust, you had nowhere to go so you just threw yourself on God's hands and trusted Him...this made me feel more inspired, it calms me down to see you in the safety of Christ, God truly is merciful and generous to people, glory be to the Lord above all things! You're right, it's not a cerimony but simply an ask for help, maybe i felt like i had to know or trust more because of rooted pride, but i'll try to keep this in my heart. Thank you so much for your help friend, this truly shined a light in my path when i was feeling hopeless. May Christ bless and protect you from evil, peace!
Pray. Go to Christ and don't give up. Seek His face continually. Don't you give up, and don't doubt His love and grace. That's not our place. God has placed all our sins upon Jesus at the cross and punished them in Jesus by crushing Him. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30. Take that and go to God with it. Don't give up!
Just look to Christ. He died for you! Like he really died man. The father gave his son for you!! As wicked and evil and vile as your Christ loves you. So does no one ever feel heat in the heart when connecting with God? I know that’s not the main evidence of salvation or what we should be seeking, but since I was (or at least think I was) saved a year ago I feel an intense burn in my chest when deep in prayer or reading the scriptures, accompanied with a sense of lightness and peace. I know sensations aren’t that important and can be deceiving by why would the devil give that feeling when reading God’s word? I just never hear any other Christian say they’ve experienced something similar, or are we just not supposed to talk about sensations?
When reading revelations or prophecy of the end times I get almost an uncomfortable burning in the heart. God’s holiness is scary. It’s a mixture of fear, awe, and trembling. But a warm fuzzy cushy feeling? No.
I am a born again christian, and i don’t know how many times a day should i repent? And i have unconfessed sins pileing up, how do i confess them? I am in a period of my life when I feel really exhausted
Im bipolar. I used to drink because , my financial life was destroyed because of lock downs. To the point where my children now live with my ex-husband. Yes I lost everything. When they left I decided. TO STOP SINNING not that we will ever atain that in this life time. But im determined to Not worship Idols in my life ie like alcohol .... I was emotionally lost even thou I was converted in 2003. Satan had me right where he wanted me. A Christian without HOPE. Honestly you have to decide to change and take responsibility for your sin. Meaning flee from it. 9th May 2022 was my first day not drinking alcohol. Ive tried many times over the years to stop. I was on BIG PHARMA medications 💊 for Bipolar it killed my soul. It stole 10 years of my life. BUT JESUS helped me with that, now on Homeopathic medication. I've also started going back to church. This last Sunday was my 6th Sunday that I'm back in the church. Jesus warns us about the great Falling away. Its happening right now as I type this message. We need to be around believer. With the combination of all of these actions that I have Taken in my life recently. My life has changed. I literally have been restored into Him kingdom. Remember The God of the Old Testament Destroyed Generations of Israel like Jeroboam who wouldn't stop sinning. But at the same time that Same God YHWH Almighty restored Generations to and even grafted in another people ie Ruth the Moabite who served the God of Israel. God can restore your Hope. My heart hurts for you. Because I know times are so dark and all hope seems gone. But its not. It truly isn't Gone. You need to Grab on to it sweetheart. Love from South Africa 🇿🇦 🌍 ❤
Start with lying and work out from there. Many sins are more easily concealed if you are willing to lie to cover it up. Confess the specific sin when it happens. God is faithful to forgive AND cleanse you of *that* sin! Once you start walking in the truth and telling the truth the spirit of God in you will begin to show you other sins that you need to root out. Some roots of sin are deep depending on how long you were living as an unbeliever so be patient! But pray for wisdom to discern good and evil so you will be able to identify it in your own heart. Don’t confess a sin you’re not guilty of. And make sure it is sin by Gods standards (is it sin as defined by God or by man?). Ultimately, brother (or sister) trust that Christ has paid for ALL of your sin and that you can rest in his completed work on the cross and his imputed righteousness. If you are truly in Christ, you are not working to earn your salvation, but rather live a life of obedience in gratitude for His immeasurable grace. Blessings!
@@Jesusislove2812 I think I see what you are saying. I am sorry if I misunderstood you before. Confession and repentance are similar but different at the same time. Confession involves agreeing with God that you have indeed sinned according to his righteous standard. Repentance involves your attitude towards sin. So since you are in Christ, it follows that your attitude towards sin has been changed and is being changed towards that of Christ's attitude towards sin: that of hatred. The true believer hates their sin and desires to be freed from its bondage--which is only possible through the cleansing power of the holy spirit dwelling within you. So to answer your question, if you understand your depravity apart from Christ, and are being sanctified by growing in righteousness and fleeing from sin, then YOU ARE WALKING IN REPENTANCE. :) There is no specific frequency that you need to adhere to except whenever you are convicted of sin--which will happen if the spirit of God truly dwells within you. John 16:8 "And when he (the holy spirit) comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness, and judgment..." I hope this was helpful! Let me know if it was clear or if it made it more confusing.
I agree "emotions are the shallow part of Soul God works in the Deep part faith "- Oswald Chambers, emotions in the church like worship is like a mountain top experience for most, worship=John 14:15 GOD loves us he died for us,the problem I have is "everyone says his love is unconditional" Holiness is the condition and it doesn't say in the bible what it states is his love is unfailing!if it was unconditional be no need for the sacrifice at Calvary and no hell just live the way you want and you're in?
@@carriedbytheking1837 The bible doesn't say unconditional!it's unfailing!and without holiness no will see GOD! That's in the bible!I never said i'am HOLY enough?
The reason people say unconditional love is because God loved us enough to send his Son to die for us, even though we had no redeeming qualities. We loved sin, we rejected God, and we all would have gone to Hell were it not for God's desire for us to not only repent but prosper, allowing us to not only become saved from Hell but gain his inheritance as a child of God. We didn't earn this love or meet any condition to gain it, so it is called unconditional.
@@justinbrentwood1299 listen to what your saying? The bible doesn't say that it says unfailing love Christians have become parrots just repeat what u hear
@@alexbarianos5472 If the love I described is not unconditional, then it is conditional. If it is conditional, by definition, that means that we did something to gain it. What did we do to gain God's love?
God promises of His salvation in Ezekiel 36:26-27. Pray for God to renew your heart and put His Holy Spirit within you. Also Ephesians 4:20-24 tells all we must do. The continuing verses also elaborate.
When Jesus preached, he said to repent and believe the Gospel. So listen to the state of man and the Gospel (good news), and follow Jesus. Humans are evil by nature tending to do and love bad things. For this reason, we deserve to go to Hell, a place of eternal torment to punish us for our sins. God is just, and he can't let any sin go unpunished. Anyone who turns away from God to love sin, for them, God will turn away from them. However, God loves us, even in our evilness, in that he wants us to be righteous and prosper. Therefore, he sent his holy Son Jesus Christ of Nazareth, to pay for the sins of the world. Jesus came to this Earth, did incredible things, taught amazing things, and finally completed his reason for coming. He was crucified, and on his cross, God put the sins of the world on him and punished him. Jesus died, and three days later, he rose from the dead, conquering death. Sin must be punished, so God punished sin through Jesus, so our sins can be placed on Jesus, who paid for it. God has a requirement for anyone wanting to recieve this atoning sacrifice. We must put our faith, our trust, in God and his Son. By God's amazing grace through our faith in him, our sins can be placed on Jesus, paid, and forgiven. Furthermore, God will save us to love righteousness and hate sin. Now we can have eternal life, not because we deserve it by our deeds, but because God was gracious to forgive us and just to pay for our sins. If you want to learn about Christianity to put your faith in it and follow it, you should read the Holy Bible, starting from the New Testament. The first 4 books are the Gospels, telling the story and teachings of Jesus. The next book (Acts) is about what happened after Jesus' resurrection and how the church was founded. The next books are epistles or letters from the apostles to different churches, and they have a lot of wisdom. Then there is the book of the Revelation (which I strongly recommend waiting to read because it can be hard to understand because of symbolism) which describes the end of the world and Jesus' return.
When you realize just how much God loves you by sending His only begotten Son to die and suffer in your place, it is then you are filled with such emotion and love for the Father. The one forgiven much loves much.
Revelation 17 1 And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven viols, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will show unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters: 2 With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of the wrath of her fornication. 3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet colored beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. 4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet color, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: 5 And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. 6 And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration. 7 And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns. 8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life form the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is. 9 And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth. 10 And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space. 11 And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition. 12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. 13 These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast. 14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful. 15 And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues. 16 And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire. 17 For God hath put in their hearts to fulfill his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled. 18 And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth. Revelation 18:1-5 1 And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. 2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. 3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. 4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. 5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.

When reading revelations or prophecy of the end times I get almost an uncomfortable burning in the heart. God’s holiness is scary. It’s a mixture of fear, awe, and trembling. But a warm fuzzy cushy feeling? No.
Amen and Amen!
I believe that in the Scriptures it segregates us from jesting that comes at the expense of someone else, as when you were speaking about Mark.
Amen 🙏🔥❤️🔥🙏
I am a born again christian, and i don’t know how many times a day should i repent? And i have unconfessed sins pileing up, how do i confess them? I am in a period of my life when I feel really exhausted
Do you have a mature believer nearby you can talk to about these things?
Blessings!
@@brettmagnuson8318 Yes, i am in Christ.. but i don’t understand how often should i repent.
John 16:8 "And when he (the holy spirit) comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness, and judgment..."
I hope this was helpful!
Calvery is the unconditional love that they are talking about, you sure weren't holy enough for God to send His Son to die for you
@@carriedbytheking1837 The bible doesn't say unconditional!it's unfailing!and without holiness no will see GOD!
I believe this is what is missing in so called Christian
:( this means i was self tricked but now what? What do i do
Pray on it man, and continue to seek God in Scripture
God promises of His salvation in Ezekiel 36:26-27. Pray for God to renew your heart and put His Holy Spirit within you.
Also Ephesians 4:20-24 tells all we must do. The continuing verses also elaborate.
@@iamthedenimist This is right.
Revelation 17
1 And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven viols, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will show unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters:
2 With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of the wrath of her fornication.
3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet colored beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.
4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet color, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:
5 And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
Revelation 18:1-5
1 And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.
