I love how the games are mostly on the weekends, with a scattered Wednesday game. The weekend crowds are the best down there. Nothing like going to a game at the end of a long work week. Great bang for the buck to see the Growlers play!
For a $100 I can purchase half a ticket to Boston Bruins game.👍🏼 Luckily I’m only 15 minutes from the AHL Providence Bruins. $20 gets me a seat on the glass. Great hockey. Young kids busting their ass for a call up to Boston.
ECHL is one of the best kept secrets for a hockey fan. Absolute bargain for some pretty great hockey. I routinely make a 2 hour drive each way to see the Everblades 🐊 Wouldn't mind another playoff round with the Growlers!
OHL is great because you know some of the guys on the ice will be elite players in the NHL. Depending on what team comes in you'll see a ton of top draft picks.

@@RobertGreeley I built a roster from players who played on our local ohl team, they'd probably have multiple cups if they were allowed to play together. Then you gotta remember all the visiting teams. Marner/Tkachuk/McDavid/Stamkos etc all played in the OHL.
I love watching the ECHL more than the NHL. Don't get me wrong, I love the NHL but I love supporting my local team the Cincy Cyclones. 🔴⚫️⚪️ 🌪. 2 dollar beer nights and the crowds are always rowdy. Plus the team sweaters and logos in the ECHL are just awesome.
The travel in the ECHL must be insane? Personally, Ive traveled in Western Canada back in the 80s and early 90s. Greyhound Bus to Calgary then to Vancouver then to Victoria, then back to Vancouver then a bus back to Calgary and finally a plane ride back to Toronto all in THEE DAYS pick up my son from school then home, a shower, and I crashed. LOL Bus rides are crazy
Great video, I never knew that Mile One Center was named after Terry Fox's starting point, that is so freaking awesome. Although being from the States I have no skin in the game but actually sad that they changed the name given its significance. They could have changed it to Mary Brown's Arena at Mile One Plazza or something lol. I think your next trip should be to Glens Falls NY for a Growlers or Trois Riviers against the Adirondack Thunder lol. Not sure if I spelled Three Rivers right lol, I apologize for my poor french, more like no french 😀.

Depends where you go for fighting. Here in Britain its not encouraged, it's not the LNAH, but accepted for sure. Germany it's a last resort deal. Physicality is fine but unless a guy has smoked a guy really bad then you'll not see mitts drop

@@RobertGreeley The ICE Hockey league is Austrian, but they have a few teams from northern Italy, Slovenia, and Hungary. The only negative side of the league is they don't promote that much televised broadcasting; more go to the hometown arena. I recommend looking up KAC vs VSV... incredible
I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the game when I saw the Lions vs the Wild in December. You can see the effort all these guys put in and they play because they love it!

So the significance of the blue nets is that geico sponsors the nets in the states for the ECHL and have their logo in the cross bar. The sponsorship didn’t include Canada so they kept the colour but no advertising.
I'm normally against renaming arenas to something corporate, but anything to make pro hockey work in NL is fine by me. Also, it's not like it's Bell, Rogers, or TD. It's Mary Brown's!

The Gold Kings soon relocated to Colorado Springs before going defunct in 2002. The Aces, which was once listed for sale on eBay, got new owners and were part of a six-team package deal when the WCHL got absorbed into the ECHL in 2003. The team was rebranded as the Alaska Aces and won the Kelly Cup three times (2006, 2011 and 2014) and Brabham Cup five times. Unfortunately, due to financial losses, the team went defunct in 2017. I was there for their last game.
I more surprised as I just learned, that Trois-Rivieres has a team in the league. They should be in the QMJHL because they really need 20 teams in that league with Fredericton getting the other team.

I go to many College/AHL games in my state of Connecticut. I recently went to a college game at the brand new Mattire Family Arena where I sat against the glass for $13.00. The advantage was since it was so new the glass had very little scuff marks and the seats where build above the boards to make it easier to see the action. The food was meh though. It’s best just to eat outside the arena.

You could even do a road trip to Guelph, Hamilton & Kitchener... who knows end up in Windsor at a Spitfire Game and then enjoy some of the World Famous Windsor Pizza it will blow your mind‼️‼️‼️‼️

I lucked out last year. Round 2 game 5. Flames vs oilers. Tickets I got for free. They were going for 1000 each I spent $30 on nachos and pizza .
