Why are all the full grown adults expecting the barely put together 20 something year old to take on the debt of a step sibling when not a single one of them, especially the parents are putting in a dime?
I dont know if it's AI or just one writer but yeah there's someone who rights these stories who uses the same phrases "get this" "here's the scoop" "and let me tell you" over and over again
Sure, she can stay...just as soon as he pays for a replacement car, and pays rent, and preemptively pays for groceries, and signs an agreement that says she will move out with a 24 hour notice when it doesn't work out. Plus, she will be responsible for all the household chores, and will not have use of the car or anything that belongs to O.P. So...basically every condition that is known to be a big fat no for them.
I still have to say no. A studio apartment is not enough space for someone you don't get along with. I would definitely have brought up the car wreck. The "fond memories" should be remembered during such a conversation.
@@oliver4534 I guess this was my point in all my requirements above. There is no way they were gonna agree to any of that, let alone ALL of that. And, the OP should not have any guilt in saying this to them.
@@mindylafler3456 Well said. I thought you might mean that, but I wasn't sure. No doubt you're right that they wouldn't have respected one of those requirements, let alone all of them.
It's an old contractor trick for when you don't want to say no to a job but you don't want to do the job, over quote the hell out of them. Though I wouldn't in this case because once in the door it can be a pain getting them out agreement or not...
1st story, If OP's family are so concerned about stepbrother tell them "oh thanks for volunteering to pay for stepbrothers college costs". Then go no contact with father and stepfamily and live your best life with bf and bio brother.
lol that first one sounds like a 50 year old guy trying out roleplaying a college girl on reddit. "Its just me, my main squeeze, and my bro". "And get this, my bro said".
First story truly is "How do you do fellow kids this totally rad sick cool I'm totally a teenager a young buck just like you fam deadass for real for real"
If I were OP, I would request a copy of the mothers will. To remarry one year after your wife passes is quick. Willing to bet OPs mother left them something like college fund, name on house, etc and that OPs father is a cheater and is trying to steal any inheritance for himself
she went more kind and simple than i would had. i'd give my father the bussines so hard and strong that by the end of the conversation, he would need to check in for suicide prevention
Story 2 WAIT?! She F--ked up your car & you did What? Did you call the cops get a lawyer. You did nothing? You door mate. Fight back. Force her to pay for the car.
I would have called the cops as soon as the car went missing. It may not be considered as stolen because she had the keys but I definitively would have pressed charge for the steal and the damages. And when called to be more generous with her I would have answered : "Hey, this is a FREE life lesson I'm giving her".
I bet the reason why the father said, the brother and OP ran away, was probably to erase the fact that they were from his previous life and maybe just wanted to focus on the new life that he has with the stepmother. It kind of sounds like that he wanted them erased from reality and didn’t count on OP retaliating because that’s what it sounds like to me why the father said it 18 you’re out and basically told all the relatives to blackball both OP and brother And for the second story, you can tell that the step daughter is more the favorite but it’s blatantly obvious that she’s lazy as well as entitled. Who literally says to a family member I’m going to move in and not contribute. Everything makes it a generous offer to take them in? I think the father either is being controlled by the stepmother or the fact he doesn’t like OP because she’s a reminder of the mother kind of makes sense so much like when I mentioned in the first story that some people don’t want their kids or treat them like dirt because they’re a reminder of your past life.
Story 1 Am i the only one who is still very suspicious of the step brother thinking he's only being nice to manipulate OP into eventually offering to pay for him All of a sudden he's being all sorry after the court case? There's definitely something going on there
Nope I think you are right. They took a step back reorganize and brainstorm what action to take and who to target. And they targeted the broher because he is the weakest link. I would answer her father that she won't be able to pay anything until her real brother end his college anyway. PLus a few years to save some money. THerefore it's a good reason and the son of her father new wife will be at least 40 when she'll be ready to pay something.
also story 2: tell dad to repeat to say that it's not a big deal and that you will do no big deal to his car. and he mustn't get mad, because no big deal right?
2nd story should of asked the dad what today is and see if he remembered her birthday if not fantastic. You can then say this is why you don't care because it's obvious they don't care about you
Story 1: If those idiots are so concerned about the costs for OP’s stepbrother’s college costs, then THEY can pay for it instead of hassling OP. Story 2: Stop being so damn polite, OP. You are NTA for speaking your peace against your simp dad who gave up on you for a step daughter and new wife.
"But get this! But here's the kicker. Here's where it gets sticky. Here's where things get really-" Just stop. Anyone ANYONE who writes like this needs to just stop. It's disgusting and painful to listen to. This isn't even the first story being covered on this channel to do it but it instantly makes me want to click off. There's more ways to continue the story, like actually just continuing to the next line. You don't have to add a 'BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!" every two lines like you're trying to sell me a ShamWow or something. It's a story, not a damn infomercial.
I hate when the story has the most rickety and rigid transition I heard in a while, and it follows with a summary of events that were just read 5 minutes ago
"I heard you live in this city and I need a place to stay." Oh dw, dw, I'll write you up a list of the local homeless shelters asap, I hope they're to your liking. 😊 - my petty self if I was OP.
Kinda reminds me of my first birthday after moving in with my dad. No one remembered until three days later. Then all of a sudden I got a cake, and lo and behold “comically” got my face shoved in it. It was ruined. Haven’t talked to anyone on that side of the family since Obama was in office
Second story : Do you feel the shift in the society ? Entitlment has grown so much important through so many people that normal people who fight back feels they have gone too far. She is not the AH here. She stands for her gorunds and did and say what was needed to be said and done. And you know she's a good girl when she still is ennoyed by the way she stands for herself.
Send a group message: " As I made it clear that I will not be wasting my hard earned money on your beloved golden child put YOUR money where your superficial gossipy mouths are and pay for him. None of you cared about me and my brother, you took their lies as absolute truth therefore they are your "faaaaamily" and you should be the ones helping them". Then block left , right and center. Best of luck to you, your partner and your brother.😂
It’s kinda odd how in these stories people always talk about blood when it comes to step siblings like those relationships can’t be as strong. Not saying the OPs are in the wrong here I just think it’s kinda sad. I just wish parents didn’t show favoritism.
Yes, that's just an adminitrative line on a paper. Nothing more. The all remorse game at the end of the story one doesn't add up. It's a trick to get her pay for the son of her father's new wife.
What’s with all these metaphors in the first story😂. Listen, if you want to be good at writing, you need to make sure the reader doesn’t notice these things or breaks their immersion . It just needs to flow smoothly.
I never get american way to throw kids out. Like i m earning in six figures as engineer but it wont be possible if my indian parents hadnt have paid the whole eight sem n hostel fees. Not to mention pocket money. No i bought them a car they deserve
4 years is a long time for college, the step bro could have done part time job, taken some debts and the rest could have been crowdfunded by the family
Should've I called the cops and reported your father and your stepsistergrand theft auto and vandalism Cause I bet it was mom's name on car title not dad's
Why are all the full grown adults expecting the barely put together 20 something year old to take on the debt of a step sibling when not a single one of them, especially the parents are putting in a dime?
"not my problem" sort of laziness

Family and relatives are two different things. Story one shows that.

"A wall" for "AWOL" (acronym for "absent without leave") was an amusing typo or autocorrect failure.
If I was her and all those ppl calling saying I'm picking faves. I'd say yeah I am. So. If you feel so bad you pay bc I'm not.
At this point the daughter just keeps letting them walk all over her so it is on her for entertaining the foolishness.
" You pick favorites? "
" Yes , now piss off "
You should've reported her to the police
Story 1

I get a kick out of parents who haven't done diddly-squat for the OP for years and then threaten to disown them as if the OP should care.
Story 1 feels like someone trying to use as much slang as possible.
"the twist"
"and get this"
Its obvious when these are AI written.
also story 2: tell dad to repeat to say that it's not a big deal and that you will do no big deal to his car. and he mustn't get mad, because no big deal right?

The dad in story 2 is a pos and disowning her would be a favor for her

I feel like it would've been different if stepbro personally asked for help instead of the parents.
Last story another case of dad hating exwife so much it spills over to their child, he's a POS forget him.
Second story, no you didn’t go too far OP. In fact, you didn’t go far enough. Your dad is terrible

They could have sent this step brother to community college
so OP got on a zoom call with everyone and then..... blocked them? WTF?

Wish there was an update for story #2
Honestly I would've sued dora for the damages ngl
Wow they weren't lying when they said Americans Kick kids out like that 💀
when the AI wants to use 90's slang maybe edit it?
Because OP realized after the call the family believed the lies and didnt try to hear the other side
how did mom in story 2 not jump in to force them to pay damages to the car or replace it.
Dora is not on the insurance, so it is illegal for her to take the car
Second story, tell dora and dad to duck off and the @unt they fell out of. Then block them.
Op1 reached out to Mothers fam for help, but didnt reach out to fathers side? Sounds fishy to me
I never understand how can people assume that step parent/sibling can be family. They are not even related

you are not even close to wrong. Your dad is lucky you did not say all the things you wanted to. Do not let here move in at all.
Tight tight tight
Yes. A good video to look for a Pc and deprive myself bcs im broke
So she got a manager position straight out of college with no experience?
4 years is a long time for college, the step bro could have done part time job, taken some debts and the rest could have been crowdfunded by the family
