My husband used to work as an artist inside The Mystery Fun House late 70’s. I would pick him up after his shift. In the parking lot there was a kiosk for Rise and Float hot air balloons which I was involved with. They would take the balloon riders up from there and leave and go to different launch areas. Our ‘guests’ would float above theme parks and if Disney caught them good-by balloon. Thanks for bringing back the memories. I would chase the balloon(in a van) to pick them up once landed.
Hahaha...YES. My dad was close friends with Charlie (Chaz) Zito. Our families spent many holiday's together, and I remember them fondly. I got a sunrise balloon ride for my 13th birthday - September of 87... we flew in the one with the flamingo on it - and yes, we went over Epcot. I just ran into pics the other day of that!
Wow, I love seeing the old Mystery Fun House site. I remember visiting my grandparents many years ago and driving past this place, usually on the way to Wet and Wild or Malibu Grand Prix. Good times.
Thank you, Adam. Our family enjoyed many visits to Mystery Funhouse. We had my son's birthday party there and he still mentions how much fun he had. Sad to see it gone.
Did they have their name stamped on the game tokens, or did you just use quarters? I ask 'cause I'm collecting tokens from the places I used to frequent growing up. Finding someone willing to sell or swap them is a thrill and trip down memory lane!
@@jwbullfrog9583 Contemorary? Was but they moved to Chucky Cheesy style cards awhile ago and away from cutting edge games. It's more like an afterthought now than a destination.
This was definitely a go to place as a kid while vacationing or as a resident. The fun house was awesome and had a live magic show at the end with families. With lunch and refreshments in the back. Great family fun or going solo if you were old enough to do laser tag and go to the arcade. Mini golf out back as well. My gosh, I remember like this was yesterday! 😮 I miss this place ..
I stayed in the Holiday Inn on the ocean front in the early 80's. Epcot was actually still being built and not open. You could see from the highway the construction and tall cranes. This is a great video

I with you Adam, so many memories, I made the 12 hour trip to the Orlando area many times in the 90s, visited mystery fun house more than a few times, kinda feel the same for the crossroads shopping center, skull kingdom with the skycoaster between it and ihop… sometimes nostalgia can be sad but it’s nice to reminisce as well….thanks
I remember your video with the Westgate employee who was very rude and confrontational in that video you referenced. You and Carpetbagger have both had a handful of experiences like that. I could never be a UA-camr without wanting to jack a few jaws.

That attraction has been there a very looong time! I can remember looking at the Funhouse attraction back in the 1970s when we would be traveling down I-4 going to my grandmother's house in Orlando.
I have a picture somewhere of my sister and I standing in front of that when it was the Wizard fun house, had to have been in the early 80’s because I remember seeing the coming soon signs for Universal, love your videos Adam, thank you for all you do

I am with you, please open those back up, inexpensive, healthy, and delicious, what more could you ask for. I used to frequent them all the time as well. Oh and absolutely love the throwback pics.
I really wish I could have visited Mystery Fun House when it was fully operational! It looks like is was an amazing place! It would bw so awesome to find the old animatronics!🙂

Man Mystery Fun House was so much fun, we lived in Daytona so didn't go all the time, but had some fun times there. Also, Adam there used to be a place in Daytona Beach off of Main ST called the Baron Funfrite's Castle, you should do some info on it, it was this awesome haunted house built into this old brick building right off Main ST on the beachside, parts of it you had to crawl through it was so scary.
We're missing Sweet Tomatoes too. When my son was little he would put two peas on his plate and then fill the rest of it with pizza and mac n' cheese. And let's not forget the ice cream sundae bar 😄
In the summer of 1983 Mystery Fun House had an advertisement where kids got in free if you said “the wizard sent me”. My mom took us and we kept going through the maze/fun house over and over. You entered the maze/fun house through the fireplace.
There is a Days Inn now Clarion Inn right across the street (it used to be along the backside of the hotel before the I-4 Ultimate renovations) that I worked at for a year back in 2012. I used to drive past this place every day when I was working there and knew it used to be Mystery Fun House, and imagined what the place was like in it's heyday. Sadly even in 2012, the property only looked slightly better than it does today a decade later.
Missed you yesterday, on my birthday, Adam! Fun fact, as of today, Tuesday 8/30/22, I have less than 2 years untill I can retire early and begin my own Adam the Woo style adventures!!🤗!
Think it’s Sweet Tomatoes in Florida - just returned back from ORLANDO holiday and had hoped to go to this restaurant - but thanks on update we wondered why they had gone.
Well I will say living in Florida you do have to make sure your air is on or your house will very quickly degrade. Between the rain, the storms (wind/flooding), the humidity, and the heat, Florida is very hard on buildings. However, since they've allowed the back part of the unit to fall apart I'm kind of surprised why they would keep the air running. I mean the wood is all disintegrating in the back. Wikipedia has some interesting facts about not only Mystery Fun House, but its owner, David Siegel. Apparently he had the largest house in America and there was a documentary made about it called, The Queen of Versailles, for which David sued them and lost. Also, there's a 2002 movie called Night Terror that was filmed almost exclusively at MFH. Kind of interesting since it closed down the year before, in 2001.
The animatronics were removed and were sent to a warehouse to eventually be used in one of westgates resorts. The mini golf dinosaur statues that got torn out are now at the westgate town center resort.
Adam there is a high probability that me and you possibly were in this place at the same time. I grew up in Orlando and spent many summer camp field trip days and such having fun in the Mystery Funhouse in the early 90’s late late 80’s.
I remember that place, but never went inside. Do you remember a building off I-Drive that housed a huge train layout? I seem to remember it also had a ride-on train like they had on Silver Spoons outside the building. We went there a few times and enjoyed the model trains.
