Pull the engine and transmission, and dump them at a recycler. Install a Chevrolet 350ci V-8 and Chevrolet transmission. Those models came with Chevrolet components stock, so adaptors are easily available.
FWIW, watching the Fuso swaying on rough stretches, it looked like it was close to or over its recommended weight limits. I've always been pretty brave about pushing the GVWR on my pickups, but every time I had that load of gravel or firewood, I babied it. You drive it with less regard than I probably would. Anyway, just looking at the Fuso maneuvering some pretty average-looking Forest Service roads, it just seemed like it was pretty top-heavy and in need of some beefier suspension. In your new build, my advice is to build for more than you're asking of it. You don't want to operate anywhere close to the weight limits of your chassis or powerplant, day to day.
I know nothing about Fuso’s, but so many people commented on how you are most likely going to regret buying one, and unfortunately, they may have been right☹️
I have 80,000 miles on my 2017 Fuso. It's a great truck/engine/transmission but you have to do your maintenance, preferably every 5,000 miles. And it ain't cheap.

Best get any engine hoses, water pump, filters, preventative service etc replaced while all open. $6k for transmission AND labor? You will need to live in that for at least 3 years to offset "rent". Need tires soon? What is the weight tow limit on this rig? What a start to 2025!

Phil, bro!! I said in past video posts you need to slow it down!! As a mechanic I see drivers romp on these trucks all the time!! You gotta be close to max GVW on your rig and the tranny is the weak point. That grinding, although hard to decipher on the video, may be the reverse clutch pack…but it’s hard to tell. I’m hoping a tooth on a gear hasn’t sheared off!! You’ll probably need to drop the pan and make sure there are no fragments or powder on the magnet. Good luck bro…but please take it easy on the girl!!

We have a 2013 Hino for work, works great & never had any major issues yet
