Watching Lewis here, easy to see what a great character and humorous man he was. I grew up with THE PROFESSIONALS and bought all 51 episodes on dvd which I still enjoy watching today. Very sad that Lewis died young at 67, after battling cancer for 5 years. I wrote to him in 2011 and he sent me a lovely reply which I have kept, made all the more special that unbeknown to me at the time he was fighting cancer. Although all 3 main actors of The Professionals were fine actors, I feel Lewis really made the show with his classic humour dialogue delivery, coupled with his allround aggression and persona. Rest easy Lew. We miss you.
Great to see Lewis Collins. I think the new show he speaks of must be The New Professionals which was aired 1999. I watched a few episodes but I thought it didn't have the same attraction, minus Lewis Collins and Martin Shaw and wasn't anywhere as dynamic. The original with Jackson, Shaw and Collins gave it added attraction apart from the narrative, with the very effective music by Laurie Johnson which gave the whole package a very exciting show followed by high vieweing always looking foward to the following week's show anticipating what dramas the two action heroes of Bodie and Doyle would go through. Nice, not too serious interview

That's a really nice story. What did Lewis Collins say in his letter to you? Was that when he moved to the States?
