Omg I’ve been waiting for an updated video of this! Sounds like the slip rings are literally only making a connecting at one point in the rotation. At least it doesn’t sound that much worse from when Tyler Shaw recorded it way back in 2009
It legit has about the same timing as a Cooper HPSA does when those do wail lmfao. Those collector rings are dirty af as it sounds like it is doing attack even though it is doing alert. Sounds creepy af when it winds up ngl
if i remember rightly.. there is an old video of this siren.. sounding just as strange and sick.. im suprised its been left like this.. wonder what on earth is going on with it :0
It’s 100 percent a collector ring issue. The chopper is only getting electrical power at 1 or 2 points in the rotation, causing it to constantly drop pitch and then jump back up again
Actually according to Tyler’s map (which I trust more than either of you since he’s been in the hobby for longer AND he’s from the Lincoln metro area), this siren was installed in 1957. So it is a 6M. You just can’t hear the distinct pulse because the blower is wired backwards
That is 100% dirty collector rings. This sounds eerie as fuck though.
It’s a shame because it’s such an easy fix too
The thing just went through each chopper level in one test.
Your right, that was cool
true tho lol
“Alright so this part of downtown gets level 3 and this part gets level 5”

I heard how sick it sounded last July and wanted to record it before they replace it. There's only a few Thunderbolts left in Lincoln.
It’s been like this for well over 10 years. As long as it doesn’t rotate any faster than 2RPM it should just keep chugging along
They've technically already replaced it. There just aren't any plans to remove it. Same with the VA hospital one. Too tall.
@@TylerShawWx Where is the 2001 that replaced it?
@@DjPyro2010 love library and a couple others surrounding down town. That was the explanation I got from the EMA.
What's wrong with it? A bad chopper? Or underpowered? I'm confused on what's causing it to act up like that.

That poor Tbolt needs TLC!
Here is the video of it from

Why is it pitching up and down like that??
Dirty or bent collector rings and worn chopper motor brushes

Tyler did it
Well it seems like it has dirty collector rings, brushes may be going out as well.
@@kansasstatealerting2874 definitely collector rings. Good eye. It seems to have pitch issues at the same points in the rotation.

i wanna get this straight, is it a 4m blower or 5m
According to the installation date it’s actually a 6M, but there’s always a possibility that the blower was replaced at some point
