    Would you be able to elaborate more on the tasks and skills required for each of the divisions you mentioned ? Companies tend to search for their ideal all-in-1 candidate for one particular division. Do you think it is practical to just focus in one division ?

      yvesacquisition CFA is more focused on portfolio management, so it’s better in AM roles, obviously is going to help you but the topics that cfa is involved have nothing to do with m&a for instance

    Question for Afzal. Do you think you'd be able to build a successful business from scratch after having worked at an investment bank?

    • @amans6504
      @amans6504 4 роки тому +1

      NO, unfortunately

    • @Essays4College
      @Essays4College 4 роки тому +1

      That's what we all want to know. If all of the high level analysis and number crunching doesn't enable someone to then go out and successfully build a business on their own then the value of working at an investment bank, in my opinion, has to be somewhat discounted. Nevertheless, I would like to hear from Afzal himself on this.

      This question is a bit weird, it's like asking " after being a doctor in the hospital, would you be able to open successful hospital yourself". Well possibly? Possibly not? He doesnt have expertise on how other parts of the business run, but he knows what makes business successful in general, bigger picture, values. One can open a successfull business after working in investment banking, but it depends on individual.

    Do acquisition analysts get paid commissions?

    • @GMoretti-ux1pe
      @GMoretti-ux1pe 4 роки тому +1

      I just completed an internship, and from what I gathered; yes and no. I was talking to a junior analyst, and he said he receives a flat salary, and an additional bonus. The bonus is determined by your ranking within the firm, which is essentially a measure of how much money you made for the firm.
      At this specific firm, there were 12 people in his ranking, and the last would get a 40% of salary bonus, and the first would get a 250% bonus of salary. For instance, if he makes $100,000 a year, and comes first in the ranking, his total salary would be $350,000.

    Question. Does the investment banking division also do IPO’s

    • @FinanceOptimum
      @FinanceOptimum 4 роки тому +1

      Yes, they do. They purchase an agreed-upon number of shares of the new stock, which it then resells through a stock exchange (underwriting).
      Part of the investment bank's job is to evaluate the company and determine a reasonable price at which to offer stock shares.
      Larger IPOs often involve multiple IBs to reduce exposure.
