Around 30 mph is really good 👍. The battery in the front does a great job to stabylise the car. At one point I thought it wants to flip over to the side.
That was awesome. I think I got the Konghead that fast in my speed runs too. That truck is so beautiful with that frame. You did so well to not crash it. I’m getting excited. Gonna work on my speed run this weekend
I had some great runs over the last two days. I gradually worked up past the 40 mph mark. Still running the Tamiya DynaTech 02H with a 2s LiPo and a vintage Tekin speed controller. I still need to process the video footage but I’m working on a new gearbox design at the moment. Thanks for the challenge, this week has been a hoot. I’m excited to see everyone’s setups and numbers. Cheers!
The part of your build that I love the most (aside from the super rad, 3D printed parts you've made) is the fact you're running a Dynatech motor and Tekin esc! Unreal dude! I can't wait to see your gearbox! 🍻
@@poorboysrc Yeah, I'm kind of proud that I'm only running 2S and a vintage brushed motor. But I think after my latest runs, I've hit the wall on what that motor can do.
I have some catching up to do but looks like I know a baseline I have to beat! I am still waiting on parts to show up and I need to go raid my LHS this weekend for some wheels/tires I can make work! I am going to start tinkering and fiddling with it some this weekend and hope to get a run in maybe next weekend for its first trial and error testing!! Won't be out in the super rainy hurricane leftovers though!!
Oh, that was a nice surprise, I'm sitting bored in the airport, on my way home to my Lunchbox (and wife and pets, ha ha)... My car is nowhere near ready, but I think I might do a video for the weekend, just for the sake of the hype, ha ha! Good job on the run, really nice start to the challenge, set the benchmark, all that!
Very cool project. Wish I could join your competition, but my MP is completely stock, apart from ball bearings and CVA shocks. But I am very curious what you can achieve 🤘😎
It’s looking good! Nice to see you get some runs in. Based on my vast 3 days of experience (LOL, not really experience, just extrapolating the numbers based on your setup) your probably going to peek at about 30/31 mph so your speeds make sense (to me anyways). I discovered today, that you can run an 18T pinion if you remove the offset motor spacer. That should be a huge bump in speed, but it does put a pretty good load on the motor/ESC.
Yeah the 18t pinion mod is just that, fast and hot. I'm going to keep it in my back pocket as a last resort. I do have an adjustable motor mount which will allow the use of larger than stock pinions, I think I might try that in my speed runs this weekend. Glad to see you're getting familiarized with your lunchie, your times are solid already!
Here is a quick short of my one of my fastest runs. I was able to hit 45 mph consistently. I'm still running 2S with the Tamiya Dynatech motor. But, I think I've hit the wall on what this motor can do. My calculations show me hitting ~52 mph but the motor just doesn't have the juice. I designed a new gearbox that can handle much taller gearing than what the original gearbox can accommodate. With the 3D gears, they take some breaking in to get smooth and don't last as long as molded gears. I'll post a more detailed video on the gearbox when I get to processing the footage. ua-cam.com/video/r_D8ViWDOu0/v-deo.html
Your small 3cell lipo will suffer from voltage sag due to a low C rating. When you don't have enough amperage the voltage will sag (go down) when it is put under stress. Mha times C count equals amperage available. You will need at least 200 to 300 amps for a good speed run.

It was close to flipping! I'm going to drop the ride height even more to try and really stabilize it for the next round of speed runs.

Excellent video Phil. You're really having a lot of fun out there. Thank you for entertaining us with such unique content

@@poorboysrc We are just getting rain out of it so none of the winds and crazy stuff. Just gonna be a soggy weekend!
@@AddamsPlayground that's good to hear, pal. Glad you're safe and sound. 👊
That’s a great looking Pumpkin! Love the racing slicks on it and nice speed runs too.👍😊
Thanks, my friend! I'm planning a big power upgrade this weekend, she should put down some quick times! 🤙
Excellent dude !! Can't wait to see what you do to make it go even faster. Great vid 👌 👍
Thanks Alex! I've got a hot motor in mind for the next round of speed runs! 💨
Great first set of runs Fil! I think you can get more out of her yet!
Thanks brother! And I think you're right, there's opportunity enough to get some more zoom zoom out of this truck! 🍻

Excellent video Phil. Love the "Roller Cam". That's a nippy Pumpkin you've got there 😀👍🏼
Thanks Derek! Yeah I think the "roller cam" is going to really come in handy when filming on-road! 👊
For those who may ask.
2-S is 7.4 volts.
3-S is 11.1 volts.
Cheers bro! 🍻

Can't go wrong with Lime Green..😎😎

Wow. Haulin Phil..
Yeah buddy! The Pumpkin has never moved so fast! 🤣
That was a fun vid to watch. Install an ESC that can take 4 cells and do another speed run.
I'm thinking about doing just that. I do have a Castle motor that's an absolute rocket I think I'm gonna try next. 👊
Where did you get the lexan body? I can’t find them anywhere. Love the build btw
Thanks for watching! This one is a Parma body they discontinued years ago, but you can still get them from TBG. 👊
Have fun
Thanks Mike. 🤙

Fun vid. Rig is lookin geat
Right on, thanks Bruce! 🤙
Just got my gps so we’re gonna see what we get this weekend
Alright perfect! Looking forward to your times! 👊
I don't know for sure maybe ba
Buggy tires
I was considering some skinny buggy tires up front. Lol!

Yeah you're totally right! I ended up purchasing some 3300mah 3S packs for my final speed run. Those packs worked a lot better than the little guy. 👊
Maybe try using a pinion from the hornet
Absolutely! I might try that this weekend.
😀
nice !
Thanks Ryan! 🍻
Are these slick tyres on the standard rim?
They sure are! 🤙
@@poorboysrc just found them online. Wow they are expensive
@@Megayoshio8 I found them on ebay, shipped put of the UK, I think I paid about $90 CAD which is normal for tires up here.
What kind of motor is it running
It's a Leopard RC 12T brushless. 👍🏻
Correction mah times C rate equals total amperage.
Use a gyro
Not a bad idea. I've never tried one before, but I bet it would help this rig stay straight.
I have the adjustable pinion kit in my lunchie and running a steel 13 tooth pinion. Just the ticket for more speed.
I'm considering going that route too. What pitch pinion are you using? 32? Or .06 mod?
And are you going to join in the speed run challenge? 😉
@@poorboysrc 32 on Full battery , stock tires and motor just barely pulls the front tires up.
@@Paul__FC I'm gonna play around with some gearing then, I do have the adjustable motor plate. 👊
First lol
Haha there he is! 😉
