I have a 58 impala frame that I want to check for repairs before powder coating. Should all the tires and suspension be intact before checking dimensions?
The frame should be on jack stands and the suspension unloaded. I actually just filmed a video this morning that shows how you can measure a frame at home with a few common tools. It should be out sometime soon. Thanks for watching

It’s all the same. The X frame is still measured and straightened the same way a modern frame is done. That’s really an old school frame. Thanks for watching

You can’t find anyone as in literally can’t find anyone, or can’t find anyone as in every shop you take it to deem it a total loss and refuse to touch it? What you consider a “minor tweak” might be considered against oem repair guidelines to a collision professional.
@@nc240coupe It was hit in the rear wheel and the frame is out by about 1.5 inches (frame sway). You cannot see the damage--it's a slight bend/tweak. Drives perfect but it is not straight. The truck has 39,000 miles and is from California. The shops say it is too old to fix and/or they only do insurance work. I found a place that agreed to fix it but they said they could not get their frame machine to recognized the vehicle when they scanned it on the door. It's rather bizarre honesty. The truck is like new.
Sorry . The reading resulted in the insurance company deeming it totaled. I agreed the decision but they didn't change it. So I bought my jeep back from the insurance company and had 2 more readings done. Both resulted in no damage to the frame. I am going to court next month hold the collision center response for the decreased value in my jeep because I believe it was fraudulent. They want the jeep. I can't prove that but I am in need of someone to review the reading and tell me if it looks suspicious compared to the other two. Is this something you would do for me? I just want to be able explain it in court.

How does this compare to damage on an X frame? My 63 Chey had some light damage on right front fender and bumper.

Where are you located? I have a 2005 Ford Ranger with 30K miles and can't find anyone who can fix a minor tweak in the rear.
