I have 84 jumps. Just got my B License last week. It's definitely not the cheapest sport out there, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. It's sooo much fun!!
Really informative video, thanks! I started AFF last year and spent around £1500 and all I did was levels 1,2, and two jumps at level 3 (failed both). That £1500 includes ferry and hotel travel and fuel as the closest DZ is 3 hours away. Going to look into booking a full AFF course next year and save for it this year. Will be going to a DZ that is an hour further away but open more days and jumps at 15000ft rather than 13000ft. Also going to look into getting tunnel time to sort out my arching issues. I havent seen many videos that cover costs of the sport after AFF so this is great to see. Hoping for a lottery win between now and next year haha! Blue skies :)
To be honest, everyone use to act like they would join me in skydiving and ask about cost and blame cost and blah blah blah. I gave up on trying to talk people into the sport. I told them if there down, ill be at the airport.
@@ceecuz4447 That mountaineering company won't know the difference between Velcro and magnetic riser covers. They won't know what freefly friendly means. And most importantly, they won't have hundreds of thousands of test jumps under their belt. I don't think skydivers will want to buy mountain climbing gear. It would be easier to sell seatbelts to motorcyclists.
Very informative! Congrats! Honestly it was jarring how I flinched at every time your brought a 4 figure number and you say it so nonchantly, like a boss. Did not know night jumps were a thing so im gonna check out videos regarding that.
Thank you for this🙏🏽 I did my first tandem jump 3 days ago and I fell in love, the sense of freedom it gave was something I’ve been looking for my whole life, hopefully I can start soon my A license
For peeps in the States, I suggest you save a bunch of cash by doing your AFF in Mexico. Much cheaper prices & they’ll still be USPA rated so when you go back home you’ll have the same licensing body to jump in the U.S. with no conversion necessary. If you’re from UK/Europe, same/similar story by going to Mexico but conversion is needed and being new to the sport you might have issues with Chief Instructors. but I knew some people who flew all the way to South Africa from Germany and said they paid pretty much the same as they would have but this way they got a ‘holiday’ out of it at the same time and went the static line progression route instead of AFF.
I watched this video, realized how much money I sunk into this sport. Now I'm wondering if I could have had better use for that money. No I couldn't, it's worth every dollar, now I'm planning to buy paramotor.
I'm just a delivery driver for pizza hut but i want to eventually become a skydiving instructor so i can just jump out of airplanes all day, but idk how to get past this paywall or where to even begin
My first jump course was $20.00, first complete rig was $50.00. All jumps were free with a $20.00 monthly membership fee to any military skydiving club.
@@JUSTUSZILS Plus if you were a HALO instructor you got lots of really Tall Falls. If lucky enough to be a member of the US Army Parachute, a training day could be 8-12 jumps a day plus we got paid for it, what a deal.
dude, aff is very expensive where you are. in greece I got a price of 1570 euros for the ground school, 7 jumps and rented equipment including the medical exams
Mr. Dan and Mr. David offered me to join their jump crew after explaining to them my first experience Tandem Skydiving. I stay two blocks from the Skydive Perris and hope to make it a regular sport for me.
im 17, and i dont wanna live a borring life so i need to get a fun job, i definitely dont got the money for all this so i guess i should save up money by working on something else first (not sure what). Is skidiving instructor a fun job?
I've never been an instructor, so I can't speak to that. Perhaps, go to a drop zone and ask to speak to some about their experience being an instructor.
I believe you need two canopy courses ( 101 and 102) with a total of 10 hop and pops, or at least that is what Flight-1 sells. Could you clarify? Thank you!
Ha ha! Bought my first rig for $35 back around 1970. 7TU with 2shot capewells. I know you probably don't even know wtf I'm talking about. :) That's ok, jumpers are still better humpers!
Ok, I’m 15, and would like to at least a tandem jump this year, is there any classes involved with that?? I kinda figure they probably teach you the basics and everything, but would I need anything else, I’m looking into it, but all I’m seeing is, information on what to do during the jump, not per-jump
they don’t teach you much for tandem and i received almost no training for it. depending on where you are they likely won’t let you jump until you’re 18
My question is, now that you have your C license, what employment positions can you land at a drop zone or anywhere for that matter? Have you been offered any positions where the salary is worth it? I would love to make a living from jumping. Thanks for info
Good question. I’m not quite sure. I just skydive for fun and have never considered employment in the industry. I think there are a number of jobs you can get before D and Pro rating, like becoming a Rigger or Tandem Instructor.
Is there any set amount of time that you have to accomplish any of the licenses in? Not all of them, I just mean like you have 2 years to get an a license (or shorter or longer or not at all!).
To my knowledge you can take as long as you want, but depending on what license you carry, you may have to take recurrency jumps along the way if there are long periods of time between jumps. I’d recommend cranking through the B license as fast as you can. The condensed timeframe will help keep concepts more fresh while you are getting comfortable with skydiving. Obviously budget can be a big factor though.
In mine so far: Required 2 tandems at about 500 Plus 3300 for the class which includes ground school +23 jumps to get to the A. Any repeated levels or if you go more than a month between jumps it is additional. I had one reoccurrence jump so it cost me 3900 for an A. I just got licensed this month at skydive spaceland Dallas
Thanks Justus,, once you get your C license, (at 200 jumps) is that when you can learn to Base Jump? Although it looks liked base jumping (from a hot air balloon) can be done after B license. Thanks, great video - at first I thought it would be 200 jumps x $200 = 40k. So this is much more reasonable

Try going to an indoor skydive an improve your skills so you don't fail

I know what you mean. I’ll see you at the airport. Haha.
Cost of a rig is laughable. Any mountaineering company could sell a quality rig for half the price(making 30%profit) at least of what you quoted.

Still cheaper than racing motorbikes haha, Cheers for this mate, this gives me a ball park figure to work towards.

$150 per day gear rental is insane. In France, it is $10 per jump!

What you can do with C compare to B
