    As I needed a large surface to do art and uni work whilst not taking up too much space in my small room, I made this bookcase with folding table.

    So cool! I loved seeing you do this with minimal tools in such a cramped space, without a proper workshop, that gives me hope I can make something like this as well! I'm definitely gonna try this!

    You can buy plugs for the holes at your local hardware store or Ace, Home Depot, Lowes. Nice work. Thank you!

    Genius idea, thank you. You could build a brace between the legs to make them sturdier.

    Question re: holes -- couldn't you just flip the shelf 180 degrees so the holes are facing the bottom of the bookcase? If you pick up the shelf and rotate it clockwise so the other side is up, all the holes should still line up.

    Did you drill holes in the fixed shelf to secure it? You can put pieces of wood along the bottom sides for extra support. Did you figure how much weight the desk shelf can take?

      That’s a great idea. I didn’t figure out how much weight the fixed shelf could take, I just know the whole shelf can take around 30kg and the table top is about 12kg.
      It’s held up really well in the last year, especially considering I haven’t fixed the shelf to the wall. However I think I will add support under the fixed shelf because I can see a slight bend in the centre of it.
      Thank you for your comment!

    Can I ask what hinges you used for both the desk and the legs?

    • @madebykech
      @madebykech  2 роки тому +1

      For the desk I used heavy duty 90 degree hinges. I’m so sorry, I don’t know what the hinges for the legs are called, but I’ve linked both in my description!
