@@connorjackson5718 Just looked on spotify and that has a live version of this on the SOF E.P. Would very much like to buy this - is it on the 7'' maybe? Thanks in advance! :)
I'd be shocked if its not a studio outtake from 'Songs from A&E'. I know for certain it's never been released on any physical or digital format (the b-side of 'Soul On Fire' has a live version of the song from the many Acoustic Mainline gigs prior to the release of 'Songs in A & E', as per the iTunes session. If it was from LAGWAFIS, pretty sure it would have been issued on the 3-Disc 2009 deluxe reissue, along with other deserted 1995-1997 songs like 'Rocket Shaped Song' and 'Beautiful Happiness'. I was never a fan of this cover, live or studio: just seems a bit saccharine. What was great was the long, set-ending cover of another Johnston song, 'Funeral Home', (from his "1990") which branched from 'Goodnight, Goodnight' and was played at many of the Acoustic Mainlines gigs. There's also a nifty solo-Spaceman Acoustic cover of 'Speeding Motorcycle' on UA-cam somewhere, just to complete the Spiritualized/Daniel Johnston connection.
RIP Daniel Johnston , beautiful song.
This song makes me ferociously feel both ends of the spectrum of happy and sad all simultaneously but I think that’s the point
daniel johnston
This song is so beautiful and sad. I love it. Great band, great song, great cover.
One of the best covers of this amazing song , great job Spaceman J . Writer Daniel Johnston is a remarkable man, a fucking genius.
Sent this to her.....
Hits me hard, so true
really love this tune too, lyrics are incredible, I couldn't understand my mate thinking it was boring?
Your mate has the sensitivity of a rock.
It’s a shame that this version of the track didn’t make it on to Songs in A&E
Life can be cruel.
We must never ever forget, Daniel!... xox
