Honestly, after watching this again, this is a much more satisfying narrative than the normal one. Instead of Senpai just going "Naw I want to win" and winning, which feels unrealistic given how powerful BF is. Even while BF is in Senpai's element, that being a digital world, I still feel like Senpai should 100% of the time stand no chance against BF; however, in this story Senpai and Spirit are separate beings, and in order to get the other one out Senpai pulled out everything he had and actually managed to go in for a Double K.O. If BF managed to beat Senpai here, Spirit's color was coming back to him so he would have had enough energy to take BF down regardless. That beauty of "One of the good guys winning the whole war with his sacrifice" makes so much better of a story-at least it does to me.
This would actually make sense because in the B Sides Corruption Reimagined Canon, everyone including the corruption has been powered up which is why Spirit was seemingly able to bring back Senpai.

I actually super enjoy the idea that Senpai here is actually a separate entity from Spirit, and thus the reason BF lost is because Senpai pushed Spirit out of the way and grabbed BF by the leg and dragged him all the way down to hell.
I love the trope of a weaker character coming in and finishing off a weakened enemy type; just that heroic sacrifice for reasons that may not even be heroic, like revenge, satisfaction, or just narcissism. This was nice
It's curious. Both characters (Spirit and Senpai) are very different and similar. Judging by how Senpai appeared at first, he was terrified of what was happening to his world. Later, he joined the battle, not to eliminate BF, but to try to fix his world, or prevent it from being destroyed entirely. Spirit, on the other hand, was not afraid. He felt defeated and exhausted. But when Senpai started talking to him, he realized that he couldn't go and die, just like that. So he decided to fight harder, not just to save himself, but to end what nearly killed him.
Spirit: * beating the crap out of BF with some bars * Senpai: "Ayo gimme a sec-" * proceeds to assist in beating the crap out of BF with bars of his own *
So are we completely going to ignore that senpai sacrificed himself so spirit could live? If he hadn't intervened to die with bf spirit would have gone down with bf instead
