dude i don't know why this video has so few views but it's one of the best videos i've seen so far about how to grow your business, simple and understandable, thanks!
“Start when you don’t feel ready” is hitting me as it should and my biggest problem is stepping out of my comfort zone. I loved the video and loved your process.
Finally, someone who understands the word "beginner". My dudes put beginner in the title and then start talking about sensor size and composition... like bro, which part of: I dont even know how to hold the camera, do you not understand? Thanks for the video, I hope you grow even more ;)
Hahaha that's what we found when we first started as complete beginners. Hopefully we can create more helpful content for those who are actually starting at 0.
My man this is exactly the video I needed to stumble upon. As a growing videographer it's tough finding clientele sometimes. You touched on tips I rarely see other creators talking about. Thanks bro
Bro I watched this when I was just lost about what I wanted to do after highschool.. I was probably thinking to just do auto detailing, but remembered I have a passion for filmmaking, so I looked up if it’s even possible.. since watching this, I’ve started an LLC, opened a business bank account, and have gotten to the point where I’m ready for clients now! And this was about 2 months ago 😄.. super exited to see what the future holds, and I wanna thank you for this inspiring video
yo, how is it going? i’m about to start, and i’m on the exact same boat. i actually started a detailing business except it didn’t go too well and i had graduated hs last year
@@Bryan.Francisco same I graduated hs last year, I just go on google maps and I try to see if any restaurants or businesses have emails so I can e-mail them and get some free shoots for them, it's really tough because I'm just starting and I need some stuff for my portfolio
I really like how simple, yet informative this video was. I am really excited to build my portfolio and one day be able to make videography and film making my full time career. My sister is getting married in a few months, so that is gonna be a perfect start. I wanna see if I can also do some real-estate video work too!
I needed this video as a affirmation today. I had a change of heart from being a teacher to videography. I just love everything about videography but needed to take a leap of faith, so I jumped on here and typed in the search bar "how to be a videographer" and you popped up. I'm so glad I clicked on it cause it couldn't of connected to what I needed to hear 😊 Thank you
Thank you so much for the really helpful and pure/raw video! You deserve way more subscribers! Only one small tip for the future: Find a better balance between your voice and the background music. The music definitely takes too much of the attention from your words, so maybe lower it a bit more, I would suggest as it doesn't provide as much value as the things you're saying ;)
Thank you for the helpful tips. I'm at that point of needing to offer free shoots and I have more confidence now hearing your story and your advice! So thank you for taking the time out to make this video 😊
Ive been so scared to start my own videography business. I studied documentary filmmaking for my masters, have worked as a freelancer in production and post-production for about 3 years now, and still have not decided to take the leap and offer video services to business/individuals. I’ve been wanting to for a while but to be honest have been scared shitless. This gave me courage. What you said in the end of this video moved mountains for me. “Start when you don’t feel ready, because if you wait until you feel ready, you will never start.” I’ve been paralyzed with fear, waiting to feel ready, and it turns out that the problem isn’t that I’m not ready, it’s that I simply haven’t started. Thank you.
Hi Gabrielle! Thanks for your message. We will put that video on our list of videos to do :) Are there any particular things in the editing process you want us to focus more on?
This is really the best video I've see so far. It's really helpful. I'm going to start videography even though I don't feel ready at all :) Do you guys have recommendations if you have no special moments to film, but just free time?
Thank you, however I still wanted to know HOW to get a camera, WHERE to apply since weddings are fully stacked of offers, WHERE to start offering free services. I love how you explained, and I thank you for it. But it did not answered my questions HOW TO REALLY BEGIN. No skills, No Camera, No experience, I am that. So, how can someone like me start without EVERYTHING?
thanks for this, i'm really struggling with my business in uk, my problem is confidence and too busy looking and caring about competition in the area as apposed to just getting out there and promoting me.
Such great advice and tips. I appreciate the inspiration. I think my biggest struggle is getting outside my comfort zone, or feeling I need to learn just one ‘secret’ technique to begin a filming for others. Thanks for the advice.
This was super informative and helpful for me on my video production journey. Thanks for the tips. Side note: I died at the 6:57 mark because of the happy, uplifting music while people were twerking 😂😂😂
I got my gear stolen at the end of last year. At the time I asked myself if there even was a point at working as a videomaker if I had nothing. Fortunately I managed to get new gear with the help of my family, but only now do I realize the importance of getting out of your comfort zone, and doing things you dont feel ready for.
Could you possible do a more in-depth video on how you organized creating videos for small businesses? Like maybe the things you’re looking for/focusing on if you were to-let’s say- make a video for a local cafe?
Very helpful video, thanks guys! One question: in the beginning of your portfolio building journey, you didnt have a website. How did you deliver work to clients?
Great video! How did you learn how to edit the videos? Is that something you learn after picking up a camera. Also is there any other cameras within the 1k budget?
I just got started my first shoot was a wedding september 3rd for free for my cousin. I had made a post on fb and got 5 weddings which i did for free for practice but after this I am charging. I just finished my 5th wedding on Sunday and almost done my first wedding edit. Its fun and so glad i got out of my comfort zone and just did it! Great video by the way. Any videos on the gear yas use? Especially camera? I’m using my iphone 11 and a gimble and external mic set up for all the weddings but i want to upgrade a good budget camera soon
your video is super amazing and helpful. Just keep creating some content like this. I have been struggling with this problem for so long. And I end up with doing nothing at all even though I can afford a beginner camera so far. But I always think I am not good enough to start off. I am afraid of taking photos and posting for clients as an amateur. When it comes to a photographer's career, I have a belief that I am able to do it in a good way but there are a bunch of things stopping me from doing it. In my case, what should I do to get myself out of my comfort zone? Thank you very much
but how much money would you need if you had to start from scratch? How much is professional camera, equipment, flash lights, studio rent etc etc....well, i guess it depends....
This is a field I really want to get into but only have a g7x. The rest are action cameras and don't have the money to buy a new one or a friend to lend me a camera
Question. I'm in the same situation starting out exactly like you did. So... when you did local shoots, did you basically make a finished commercial for them? And if so, did you give them a copy or just put it on UA-cam and give them a access link on your page?
We made short reels for their social media. But looking back on it now, we could have built a better portfolio if we produced a finished commercial. We put it on Dropbox and sent them a link.
Hey guys I just came across your channel and I'm in that situation where you were 2 years ago....it's very inspirationa...I'm just starting out as a videographer and I love it...hope to be able to brake through one day as you did...plus I'm in Sydney too✌️✌️
Hi Tony! Thanks for your comment. You can as you commit to it and you're passionate about it. Is there any other topics you would like us to cover in the future?
@Jono and Jason yea something I would like to see how you actually come up with a shot list if a "customer" tells you that they have no idea on what to do and they leave you complete freedom as you are the creative
Could you recommend a good website where I could purchase used camera gear? I KNOW ....I don't want to show up to a client's withs a few action cams, my pocket 2 , drone , a gimbal and my phone and say ok let's shoot. A DSLR is in my future if I want to do videography as a side hustle.
I just need to do free work for local restaurants with my phone first I don't have amazing gear to film anything yet. But I want to become a videographer and do wedding videos 📹 .

What app is best for Videography? Like you an app where you put together all the snippets of the videos you took and also add music?
We use Final Cut Pro.
Well executed
