When do you think am I ready to start with the solo rules? After the mission in this video I only know the basic rules. Is that enough for a first solo battle?
Great game! The two expansions - Firefight Generator & Solo - help to make the game highly replayable. There is enough strategy in the way the Firefight Generator is done to qualify as its own mini-game. I have 2nd Edition of Awakening the Bear, BTW.
@@LegendaryTactics The solo mode uses the 2nd Edition rules, and the 3rd Edition rules are quite different. Uwe Eickert has a very good video on the differences. You can use the different Edition's rules with the other Edition's game, though. Solo is a good challenge!
@@michaelmelen9062 The solo Expansion actually is the first 3rd Ed product that we published. There you turn a card to see if it has been spent. The probabilities are the same as the dice, except that you cannot have any 'black swan' runs with the cards.
2:46 Moving into Heavy Woods adds +1 to the Action Cost for Foot Units (2 in total) so you needed to roll 3 or higher, not 1 or higher, to avoid becoming spent.
4:50 is there a certain strategy to the top left German unit showing the enemy your flank? Since you can freely rotate after every move why not keep your strong defense side facing the enemy?
Thank you for this great watch. You forgot to give the soviet side a VP in end of round 1 for being in control. And then both sides reinforcements would enter specific hexes at the board, especially german side who would get in the flank of the soviets. Last thing: although the german Pioneer reinforcements had a flamethrower the mission book says that in this mission they haven’t one. None of this would have had changed the outcome of the game though 😊
Try out Undaunted Stalingrad, it is amazing! (no solo tho, but I played it as both sides.) Also great and pure solo: Halls of Hegra, this is another type of game with many elements.
Great design for both Awakening the Bear and Storms of Steel, as a solo player, it plays great just playing both sides, Can't wait for France 40.
Awesome! Yes, I am looking forward to trying the solo mode at some point!

As someone who just got into the game I am so grateful for this video! So many videos are still for 2nd edition which is so confusing.
Great! Stay tuned as we will be doing more content on this game!

I do want to try the solo mode - it looks perfect if it is hard for people to meet up face-to-face.

@@uweeickert8061 I didn't know that, thanks!
@@uweeickert8061 What does "black swan" mean?

Thank you for that - we missed it! It's always good for other viewers to check the comments so we all can learn how to play properly!
A great game, a great company, and awesome game mechanics!
It is a neat game!

Just got into war games thanks to your channel! So far i played Undaunted, would you recommend me this one as a next step?
This video was so much fun btw
It's not a bad step up. The game's programmed instruction model, which adds rules gradually, is a great way to learn it!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching and commenting and thanks for the kind words!

Is the die rolling after movement a 3rd edition thing?
I have read that it is - I hadn't tried the other editions, though, so I am not an expert on what came before.
