It started as a small argument between the seller and the buyer on the train. Which turned into a Hindu and Muslim riot by the public. The massacre could have been prevented if the then Government and police acted on time. But the politics came in play and things got worse.

2. Also it is human nature to feel pain when it happens to own community. One feels the pain of own children more than that of others. So, people tend to pick selective narative. Like people niss the burning train and pick on the riot part while both are linked.
3. All this with agenda can change narratives. For example Pakistani people will never condemn China on how they treat Muslims and break the mosques. But the same Pakistanis will cry in fake-support of Palestine.

Gujarat riots were exaggerated and Godhra train burning issue was hidden due to political reasons. Power is important for politicians than coexistence with peaceful affection in the society. Out of total 2100 deaths 900 were Hindus but picture is made that only Muslims were killed.

Godhra Train burning must be talked about
Modi had nothing to do with the Gujarat riots. He was elected as state minister a short time before the riots. When the riots took place, he called in the central government to send in police/troops to control the riots because the state police did not have the personnel to do this given the scale of the riots. The Congress government refused to do so, and put the blame for the riots on Modi because they wanted the political support from disaffected Muslims.
