He is, without a doubt, one of the most brilliant lyricists/poets/writers of our time. People severely underestimate his writing ability, they only know him as "that Arctic Monkeys guy". I wish people would take the time to listen/read things like this, or even just his lyrics as they are (especially on the Favourite Worst Nightmare and Humbug albums). Absolutely brilliant.

My ex girlfriend sent this to me in the early days of our relationship, she is a Monkeys fan. I must have heard it only twice or thrice, but now 5 years later and almost two years apart, I come back to re-listen to it. A lot has happened since and we live 10 thousand miles apart. I moved to another city and started over. I never realised till today it was where this train was heading, Brighton.
Life has such twists and turns.

This piece of writing is so fascinating! I am studying advanced composition (or "smart writing") and I've never seen such brilliant work. I've been an Arctic Monkeys fan for quite a while and it delights me to know Alex is a gifted writer. The way he tells it is also so punctual and correctly paused. I'm not sure, but I'm glad that one of my current favorite singer is a writhing nerd.

The "choice of three" is whether he should look at her reflection in the left or right window, or look directly at her, because he's seated near her. Then he starts thinking about a time when he stole another mans seat to sit by a beautiful woman but he got moved (:

He should turn this (or at least parts of it) into a song. It will again be an amazing piece among the many Arctic Monkeys songs with the beautiful lyrics he's written that blows my mind. And I say this as someone who only speaks English as a second language, so a lot of the times I don't even manage to understand 100% of his lyrics. I've heard songs and read poems before of a guy fancying a girl on a train, but seriously, this one really trumps them all. Thank you LauraBug 123 for uploading this!
