if all of us women are like this about dating or being around men: It's extremely common where I was born and raised. Having the internet, over time I'd come to find out it wasn't just in my area that women leading normal lives were still worrying about and terrified themselves. A lot of times it's because of previous abuse usually from when we're children. Some sexual abuse, others it's just abuse of different degrees by men that are supposed to be caretakers in their lives. Apparently my family told me I had my fear of men ever since I was very young and they never found out why.. yet I could and still can list many things about how abusive family has been and the harassment ( and sometimes on the toe to the line of sexual harassment ) by teachers and other guys my age over the school years.
I'm very lucky to be able to get therapy for some of this and even luckier to find a man that could show me the exact opposite of everything I endured and or feared. He stood by me and with me for years and eventually we married. 12 plus years we've been married now and I've calmed down greatly but still jump or scare easily if touched even on the shoulder by someone that doesn't ask permission first or let me see them coming instead of being out of sight.
I'm sorry that you had such terrible experiences as a child and I hope that you can find an inner peace someday. I appreciate you sharing your story.
