    Great demo of the Grandeur Piano, Simeon! It's definitely on my wish list now. Love the tone. You are an amazingly talented musician with a kind and humble heart. If you played a termite-infested harpsichord that had been stored in a garden shed since the colonial period, I am confident you could draw out the highest level of musicality possible (and likely make me want to buy it).

    Of all the pianos, it is my favorite, mainly because of the dynamics it allows me to play. It is very expressive, unlike Noire, no matter how hard I play, there are no more layers.

    Grandeur was one of my first piano libs. I bought it from NI several years ago and it is still my favorite. It is the best reproduction of a Steinway I know about. I bought it together with NI Maverick and Gentlemen. But I play the Grandeur 5 times more often then the others. Not even the Noir does really outperform that one.

      Yes, Galaxy Instruments really know what they are doing with their piano libraries. I think what makes The Grandeur special is the concert hall where it was recorded. They were able to capture such a wonderful quality about it. Thanks so much for watching.

    What makes The Grandeur so likeable is that it's very playable and it doesn't take up much space on your HDD/SSD, it is not the most detailed sounding library but for the size it's impressive. It is very dynamic so very suitable for pop, rock, jazz music etc however for classical i do enjoy the Garritan CFX a bit more but can't really do that comparison because the Garritan CFX library is huge

      Well honestly I just pull the instrument up and tweak as I go so I am not using presets most of the time. @@PraiseTracks I am currently using the noire most of the time. But sometimes I feel like the sound doesn't really translate the way I expect. I am looking for a warmer sound which is quite ambient. I am fine on the ambience, as I have managed to tweak valhalla shimmer reverb to do that job. However, I don't feel like I am getting the best out of the piano itself. I am just in the process of working on an original worship instrumental album. You can get a taste of the sounds I am getting here:

    Hey there Simeon! I just wanna say first, you are one of my reasons for having "The Grandeur" in this moment in my computer to enjoy its sound!
    But my only issue is that for some reason, i got real, that the sound of the piano, out of the box, has shown in the beginning of this video, its not matching to my one... Your one sounds more rich and detailed and my one more "buffed" less detailed.
    Do you have any special setting for the audio? Anything related to ASIO4ALL? I say this because i even tried to play the same as you in one part, listen to yours again, and it just sounds different, even when i higher my volume.
    Thanks in advance! :)

    • @PraiseTracks
      @PraiseTracks  3 роки тому +2

      So let me know more detail about your setup (keyboard, audio interface, etc).
      My first thought when I get this question is the velocity curve and response of your keyboard controller. This one setting alone makes a night and day difference in how any piano library will sound.
      All the best, I will see how I can help.

    • @DragonTHEwayITis12
      @DragonTHEwayITis12 3 роки тому +3

      @@PraiseTracks I'm not sure what kind of information you mean when you said "etc", but i'll try:
      Before starting with the list, I have to say, i have changed the velocity curve, has helped to ear better the low notes but still the same problem, they sound still buffed, and your one "BRIGHT". Example: at 4:01 that last C#, i try to repeat the same... and its how i came to this result.
      Then I tried to have same quality has in your video, while it has been (UA-cam sound: MAX, PC sound: MAX) I had to increase "Kontakt Master Volume" to "10." so it would match your sound, but then, high notes from The Grandeur was making the audio crackle.
      Edit: Had issues trying to use "ASIO4ALLL" after attempting new try's, but it starts crackling again, so ended up not fixing it, and
      using in Kontakt player "FL Studio Asio" for the sound.
      Setup:
      Keyboard midi: IRig 37 keys Pro
      Audio Interface: none
      Equalizer: none
      Earphones: Sennheiser Momentum M2ieg
      Earphones stats: Frequency response 15-22,000 Hz
      ; Impedance 18 O; Sound pressure level 118 dB; THD < 0.5%
      (not sure if its important to mention that)
      Audio Driver/Sound card: Lautsprecher Realtek(R) Audio
      Maybe i need a audio interface to have a better control and sound quality, from digital to analog? (still confused about it)
      Probably it's about the -db, when i increase it, it would go beyond my earphones limits, so it has to be decreased to match it's level;
      At least what's missing its this bright feel on low notes, which would also be present on higher notes when fixed.
      Thanks for helping, and time to read such random guy who's lost trying to fix these issues haha, i try to write only the essential.

      Welcome to this brave new, exciting, and sometimes frustrating world of virtual instruments. Forgive me if this might be too basic a place to start but here goes.
      The Grandeur is actually NOT a VST, but rather a content package for the Native Instruments KONTAKT player, in other words you would not launch The Grandeur but rather KONTAKT and then The Grandeur would appear in the Content browser shelf.
      You should have registered your Grandeur serial number inside of Native Access as well as downloading it from there as well. You should also see KONTAKT PLAYER listed as something available for download. This is offered as a STAND ALONE application or as a virtual instrument plugin to use in your audio production application.
      Please let me know if that helps.
      Also, if you could share your current setup (computer, DAW host, etc) that would also be useful.
      Thanks for watching and I wish you the very best. Joyfully!

    • @PraiseTracks
      @PraiseTracks  2 роки тому +1

      Hello, Xoán, I am so glad you have been enjoying the channel, that is a great blessing. So unfortunately not all piano libraries include Una Corda functionality. Some virtual pianos will sometimes simulate the effect by adding some type of filtering, while others actually create entire new layers that can accurately represent the Una Corda experience.
      The Grandeur does not seem to have an Una Corda response, however it does feature the middle pedal sostenuto function at least.
      I hope that helps, and again thanks so much for watching and for your kind support.

I can either go with the Embertone Steinway D or the Grandeur from NI. From your point of view which one takes first place and why? I feel they're both powerful but with which one can you do more with in the means of moment? By your standards which one has a more dynamics?

      So, as I do with all of the videos I do, there is never any additional EQ or audio sweetening. The only thing I possibly will use is a volume leveler (Waves Playlist Rider, and/or Waves WLM Plus Loudness Meter).
      The main thing that affects piano library sound has to do with velocity scaling. Many keyboards need their velocity curves adjusted in order for the library to get a fuller range of values from the notes being played.
      Could you let me know the controller you are using? It might help me understand how a I might be able to assist you further.
      Thanks so much for watching and hopefully I can help you get things sounding better soon.

    When the Piano sustains it sounds like a synth pad at 2:15

    How can i record audio?

    • @PraiseTracks
      @PraiseTracks  2 роки тому

      It depends on the DAW you are using. In my case once I have recorded the MIDI track, I can either FREEZE the track which creates an audio rendering of the MIDI or, I can bounce it to a new audio track, or I could just export the MIDI out to an audio file.

    What's up with the voice mic? Something about it seems jarring

      Hello Nez, Getting my voiceover mic has been a challenge when doing these videos, so it is somewhat a work in progress. I will have to see what I might have been doing here. Possibly just too much compression, level, or not the best EQ choice. Thanks for watching.

      It is the holy grail on my continued quest, hopefully not as elusive as that Golden Fleece 🤓
      Stay tuned as I am hoping that can be a real possibility soon.

      @@PraiseTracks I wish that Spectrasonics would release a Steinway for Keyscape. So far only C7.

    I'm sorry to say I do not have a controller. I just have a Korg 88 M3.

      Well that looks like a controller to me 🤓 This looks very nice and as I read, has the weighted hammer action.

      So not sure about the other aspects of your setup (Computer, Storage, Audio Interface), but you could definitely use the M3 88 for sure and I think would be a very good experience. Just looking at the manual and it looks like there are a lot of potential.

      @@PraiseTracks I must be ignorant. Not sure where on my keyboard is my controller.

      I might have misunderstood what you might mean by controller, so sorry.
      I call my keyboard a controller.
      So sorry. I always want to help as much as I can and sometimes things get lost in communication at times.

    Stopped the video because of the penetrant ad interrupts. Maybe don't optimize yourself that much

      Michael, so sorry, I do not like those ads during the video. I found where I could disable them, thanks so much for letting me know.
