I'd have to go with the 2011 Giants as well. With statistics like the ones you cited, it's surprising enough that the Giants even made the playoffs, much less won the Super Bowl!

Without Eli's heroics in those two playoff runs, the likes of Michael Strahan, Justin Tuck, and Osi Umenyiora don't have Super Bowl rings on their fingers.
The 2011 Giants was the most incredible, thrilling, unbelievable season for any team in sports. An atrocious defense that was entirely dependent on sacks to stop drives, a miserable run game that provided zero momentum, and (people forget) a rather poor offensive line that couldn't give any push for the run and frequently left Eli dancing in the pocket. They lost to bad teams, and almost lost to several more bad teams. They didn't have a non-nail biter win until the regular season. The team was only consistent in its inconsistency, and its 4th quarter prowess. An unfathomably clutch team, led by Eli Manning who played his brains and body out for the entire year. The opposite of a "mobile quarterback", he was surprisingly adept at maneuvering around the ever-collapsing pocket. He developed excellent rapport with his receivers in a highly unorthodox offense. He carried the offense and threw for nearly 5000 yards with stud Hakeem Nicks in tow but also elevated no-names Mario Manningham and Jake Ballard into relevancy and of course beckoned the way for Victor Cruz to have one of the greatest seasons for a wide receiver ever. Sure Aaron Rodgers had the better numbers, but Eli WAS the offense and he was working with a lot less; he should have been the MVP. This was a team on stilts in a hurricane. Take away Eli and this team would be lucky to scrape out a couple wins. Take away just one of Nicks, Cruz, or JPP and this team would have easily lost at least 3 more games. The 2011 Giants were an underdog through and through, making the most of the little talent they had to take down goliath after goliath. I will always remember them fondly.
Yknow, I'd a team gets hot at the right time and hs a strong peak in performance, than they're a good team. They may have terrible inconsistency, scheming, and decision making throughout the year, but if they play their best ball come the playoffs, and that best ball is enough to win a ring, it really doesn't matter what their regular season looked like

First off the Giants should have been 10-6, but a terrible call cost them the GB game on SNF. Second, Eli could have been MVP, he did set the record for most 4th Quarter TDs. Week after week he lead a comeback. Third their pass rush didn’t start clicking until week 12 but my playoffs was in full force. Watch those playoff games, Matt Ryan, Aaron Rodgers, Alex Smith and Tom Brady got pounded into the dirt. Fourthly, Bradshaw was a beast, the second half of Niners game he was getting big chunks of yards against a great defense. 2011 Giants would beat 2010 Packers, 2012 Ravens, easily.
Why do you think that the Giants were losing in the first place? I looked at Eli's first 5 "4th quarter/overtime" wins and what I found was embarassing. In 4 of the 5 Eli, had a passer rating of 54 through the first 3 quarters. So, they were in that position in the first place because of him. The 5th? I swear I cannot make this stuff up. Against the Eagles, a 3 point lead, just over 3 minutes remaining, and the ball, Eli throws an interception that leads to a tied game. The Giants get the ball back, but Eli throws another interception. This time, the clock is on the Giants side and no real harm is done. Then in overtime, it looks like Eli is driving for a potential win, until he throws another interception. That is 3 interceptions in less than 12 minutes of either a three point or tied game. But, the Giants, got a sack/fumble recovery. Then in three plays, without a single pass attempt, a FG is kicked and Eli is given credit for a 4th quarter/overtime win. He literally tried to give the game away and was credited for the win.
I'm not so sure about that. I'm not sure they would have beaten the 2011 Ravens either if they didn't lose the AFC Championship in such a tragic manner.

A team that finished 11-5 and did have top 10 offenses and defenses in terms of scoring, but were not top 10 in yards for both sides and was very lucky that not only inconsisent Jim Plunkett actually started not making mistakes anymore in the playoffs, but also faced 3 better teams in the playoffs that ended up shitting their pants. The Browns (lost the divisional thanks to their kicker missing 2 field goals and MVP Brian Sipe throwing an back breaking interception where they could have kicked a field goal, known as Red Right 88), Chargers (Air Coryell offense with Dan Fouts that should have won the Super Bowl that year, but instead their historically bad defenses allowed 34 points, plus Plunkett severely outperformed Fouts in a home AFC championship) and the Eagles (QB Ron Jaworski threw 3 picks all to the SAME LINEBACKER in the Super Bowl.)
The Chargers in 1980 weren't that bad defensively compare to 1981 after they went and trade Fred Dean. That's where their historically bad defense came to play.

Fell off a little with older age but was literally the only consistent thing about the giants for 15 years and the 2011 Super Bowl year backs that up strongly. The pressure on a "bad team" to win is pretty low. Plus, you tend to play with a chip on your shoulder because everyone doubts your abilities. If you were bad the year before, your SOS is often easy, unlike a stacked team. A stacked team has to look at all the fans, media saying they are going to win it all (Cowboys are a great example). You have anxiety to perform at peak level, then ultimate frustration when it does not happen.
yeah. nfl games are about who is better on the day they play not for the 16 games that came before. I don't doubt that if the 07 Giants and Patriots had to play a best of 5 series, that the Patriots would have most likely won the series. But there's only 1 game and the Giants won it
The giants had a reputation that year of stealing games late in the 4th quarter. 15 Eli manning tds in the 4th quarter (record at the time) tied for most game winning drives (8) 4 Jason Pierre Paul blocked field goals which would have tied or even win the game for the other team. Giants defense ranked 2nd in sacks, in spite of being 27th overall. I think the 37-20 thrashing of the packers told the potential of what the giants were capable of. It was probably their only break away win vs an amazing team. Yes the 49ers return man muffed one punt, but the other was a clean strip fumble. Both teams defenses allowed next to no offensive play which required good field position all game. The 2011 giants had the most memorable games won of any team in how they consistently stole games out of nowhere.
I went back and looked at Eli's first 5 "comebacks" and you won't like what I found. In 4 of those games, he had a 54 passer rating through the first 3 quarters. They were behind because of Eli. But, the Giants recover a fumble and in the next three plays, Eli throws it ZERO times. Come on, would you have him throw it again? lol The result is a field goal and Eli gets credit for a 4th quarter/overtime game winning drive when he literally tried to give it away three times. I cannot make this stuff up. I'm sure that if I looked at more of his "comebacks", I would find the same thing. Either he was the direct cause of being behind or he didn't do much to earn it.

@@RainmakerXBooty He wasn't bad in two of those three however if you break down on those a bit further. Much of the issues came from the second quarter where his rating was 79.8. In the end Eli was far from perfect but the end result is what players goes for no matter what it takes.
I'm surprised you didn't mention the 2 special team TD's the patriots had against the steelers. They only scored 3 offensive TD's in the playoffs total. 1 in each game.
The 2012 Ravens a year later are a close team to this. They finished 1-4 in their final 5 games of the regular season and shocked the colts, #1 Broncos and the #2 Patriots, and then managed to win against the 49ers in the super bowl with a stout defense and a good offense.
Eli was carried by the defense both times. And special teams. And an implosion by opposing pro bowl QBs that all destroyed the Giants in the regular season.

Really? Because in the playoffs, the running game and the defense both came alive. That 25th ranked offense gave up an average of 14 points per game. If that were over the entire season, that would be the lowest scoring defense for the year. The rushing game would have ranked 16th. Not great, but still not the bottom dwellers that Eli fans would have us believe. And despite the fact that in both postseasons combined, the defense held all playoff teams to 20 points or less (NFL average is 21 points and each team averaged significantly higher), an average of 15.1 points per game, and an opposing passer rating of 74. And Eli still barely managed to win 5 of 8 games by 4 points or less. And 2 went to overtime in which Eli was an absolute non factor on the actual "game winning drive" that he received credit for. The bottom line is that he was carried by the defense. The Giants could not have won those games without what the defense did. They literally could have won all those games with almost any QB in the league. Before you argue that last point, let's just look at the SBs. The Patriots scored 14 and 17 points. How many QBs could not have beaten that? Remember that the NFL average was 21.
I'm a Giants guy and Eli was so gotdamn frustrating to watch. But two separate times he put it together. (he received brutal treatment in both NFC Championship games, the opposing D was trying to knock him out of the game but he just kept on getting up off the turf) And back then the D-line-when motivated-could get to any QB in the league. And they sure did in both wins.

He was in tons of "crucial" games throughout his career. Failed miserably numerous times. Eli biggest asset was not getting hurt. Eli is going to be the only hall of famer (shouldn't be but...) who was only a top 10 statistically QB in one season over the course of his entire career. Literally every season minimum there were 10+ other QB's with better numbers. Top 5? Forget about it. Eli never sniffed that territory and people want this average/good QB in the HOF. Nauseating.

Patrick Grove Yeah the Eli from 2007-2011, that was the only time in his career when he was clutch in gw situations, outside of that he sucked, of course he's a HOFer only because of his career numbers and two rings, but the elite qbs today, Mahomes, Allen, Jackson, and of course ARod are MUCH better in late game situations, but I gotta admit the Giants would do better with Eli instead of Daniel Jones, at least Eli didn't turn the ball over like CRAZY🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
@The OG I never said he was only good for one season. I said he had one season in his career when he was a top 10 rated passer. 2015 is no different. It was a good season for him. He had tons of volume. He was about 15th that seaon in QB rating and 17th in YPA. Not in the conversation for being a top 5 QB. He also benefitted from playing in a lot of blow outs that season and padding his numbers. The Giants D was horrendous in 2015. Eli's career about 3-5 good/very good seasons. 6-8 mediocre type seasons. 3-5 worse then league average QB seasons. Give or take that's what his career boils down to. He will no doubt be an egregious addition to the HOF.

Because the defense held Brady (and many other post season QBs) to one of his worst games of the year. If even an average Brady shows up, 17 and 21 points are blowouts and those 2 incredible completions are mere footnotes that really don't mean anything.

Here's a fun fact, those postseason passing yards come with a huge asterisk. He had 4 chances to have a high total. The best QBs of the year, generally have a bye and only have 3 games max. So, let's be fair and compare the average yards/game to any QB with 3 or 4 games. Does Eli hold up? No. Not even close. He falls to 14th in yards per game. He falls to 19th in yards/attempt. Those are far cries from #1. This just follows his career in which he has high totals from a lot of below average attempts. Oh, yeah, Brady came within 100 yards twice. In only 3 games. Just one of his "accomplishments" that sounds great in headlines, but not so great when the details are explored.

Romo, Favre, Brady, Rodgers, Brady (again) all had one of their worst games of the year and Eli still mostly needed lucky plays for last second narrow wins. A player can fake or be carried a few games (Eli 8-4 playoffs), but a career cannot be faked (117-117) regular season. And while Eli was undefeated against Brady in the SB, he was only 50% against the Andy Daltons, Ryan Tannehills, Sam Bradfords, and Jay Cutlers. There are so many misleading things about Eli's career. I'll pick a some of the most glaring ones from your 45 paragraph run on sentence. Eli couldn't without Plaxico? From what I see, through 11 games, Plaxico had 454 yards, 4 TDs, and a 53% catch rate. And he was the superstar? lololololololololo That year, the Giants went 12-4 and you want to think that 3200 yards, and 22 TDs by Eli was the major reason? That's also funny! The only real contribution he made was that he only had 10 interceptions. Very un-Eli-like. I think it has more do with the defense holding 11 teams to 20 or fewer points. A point to be brought up again later...... I'm not a big fan of 4th quarter comes because, unless the defense was a real letdown, it was because of the QB. In fact, in many of Eli's "comebacks" he literally stank the place up for 3/4 of the game and then has a miracle breakthrough. And the Giants can owe both 2007 and 2011 to the Cowboys. In both seasons, a single easy catch that was dropped would have sent the Giants home both years. And what is your response to him having the most yards in a postseason just because he had more opportunity, but his average or even yards/attempt weren't that good? But, the main point is that Eli just isn't good. In fact, in 9 of 16 years, his passer rating was below the NFL average. In 5 of the other 7 it was a mere 3.8 or lower above the average, or still just average. So, in 2 of 16 years, he was somewhat above average. How do you explain this? Top 10 TDs and yards? Just throwing a long time for below average results is not impressive. Put me in long enough and I'll have more than Eli even though I'll be well below average. Eli's TD percentage (TDs/attempts) is actually just high than 70th all time. His yards/attempt are 90th plus. There is no magic in throwing a lot for below average results. And please tell me how many teams Eli beat that scored more than 20 points in the playoffs. After all, teams making the playoffs should be high scorers, right? Anything else you would like cleared up?

You forgot to mention in the 01 afc championship, the patriots special teams outscored their offense... and the 01 patriots were able to win the super bowl with just 3 offensive touchdowns throughout their playoff run.
You make some good points about the 2001 Patriots (I had no idea they were in the bottom six in scoring defense, considering they had the likes of Bruschi, Law, Milloy, and Seymour). But they finished 11-5 and got the 2 seed, whereas the 2011 Giants finished 9-7 with the 4th seed.
the core of the team were also playoff veterans having made it four times in six seasons with the 1996 team going to the Super Bowl…they were hardly newbies. some were new, but even their backups and third-stringers had experience
9-7 teams should always be considered sub par playoff teams. But every once in a while, something inexplicably happens. The 1979 9-7 Rams were way inferior to the other 70s Rams teams but led the mighty Steelers going into the last 1/4 of SB14
Saying the Patriots had a weak defense in '01 is kinda funny considering the talent they had on that team, including at least one hall of famer and which held one of the greatest offenses assembled to only 17 points...
Plus that defense still ranked 6th in scoring defense, they had to have done something right to keep their opponents from scoring. What happened that SB was how their defense played as well considering the number of passing yards Warner had racked up and yet, picks. "Weak" my ass.

The Harrison play didn't actully beat the Cardninals, as they did take the lead late in the game. Their defense just couldn't get a stop when it matterred.
No. HOF QB, 3 receivers over 1,000 yards receiving. One(Fitz) is a future HOF and Boldin could be one. Their defense was the weak link. They tended to give up huge plays and go into mental lapses during part of the game. They had very talented players of the defensive side and were opportunistic in creating turnovers at the right moment. They were ranked 3rd in pts scored and 4th in total yardage. Your comment does not hold validity offensively. Defensively, there can be an argument made.

As long as the Hall of Game is based on talent, he should never be there.

Maybe repeating other comments here, but the 1970 Colts were led by Don McCaffrey and not Don Shula as the video keeps showing. In fact, Don Shula went to coach the Dolphins that year, leading them to their first ever playoff game. Also the Bengals were in only their 3rd season of existence and they made the playoffs as well albeit with an 8-6 record in the weak AFC central division. OTH, the Cowboys were a dominant team who would blow out the Dolphins in Super Bowl 6, but couldn't put away the Colts, showing that the 1970 Colts in spite of 7 turnovers and supposedly being so weak did what it took to win Super Bowl 5 against a very good team.
Good catch. McCafferty was fired in 1972 when he refused to bench Johnny Unitas. The difference between the Cowboys in SBs 5 and 6 was the one had Craig Morton, and the other had Roger Staubach.
As a Niner fan, the 2011 NFCCG is the loss that leaves the worst taste in my mouth. The Niner defense was so great for a lot of that season and in that game, Eli and the Giant offense couldn't move the ball against the Niner defense after the 1st half. All the Giants 10 point scored after halftime were solely because of those Kyle Williams turnovers (BTW he shouldn't have even been returning kicks because Ginn was injured the previous week against the Saints because of Bountygate). Yes, I know the Niner offense didn't do too much either late in the game, but I would've loved to have seen how it would've played out if not for 1 guy giving away the game. Plus, let's not forget that quick whistle late in the 4th when Bradshaw was stripped but they called forward progress. That easily would've been in Akers FG range
Surprised you didn’t bring up any of the Ravens teams. 1 team was single-handedly carried by the defense and special teams. I think even Billick came out saying that their offense was held scoreless for 4-5 weeks straight. The other Ravens team barely made the playoffs after injuries and luck. They eventually won the playoffs and Super Bowl through sheer luck alone.
Ya for first super bowl that defense was legendary so I decided not to include them. The 2012 team missed the cut for me purely because it was the year after the 2011 giants and I just thought the giants were worse. And I thought I would be boring to have 2 teams in back to back years. But yes I would probably have the 2012 ravens 4th on my list
The 2000 Ravens winning on defense alone proves they are not a bad team. The defense was possibly the greatest squad to ever take the field. 2012 though, very mediocre team saved by insane performance during the play-offs.
The 2000 Ravens obviously had a weak offense, but they had arguably the greatest defense ever and great special teams. Not to mention won every playoff game by at least 2 TD's, including destroying the Giants in the Super Bowl. No way they're one of the worst champs ever, despite their poor offense/QB. 2012 Ravens would definitely be in contention though.

What nobody will ever mention is that after 9/11 the NFL switched up the schedule, so instead of playing the Jets in week 17 like they were supposed to, they played them in week 2 instead. The same game Drew Bledsoe got hurt and Brady became the starter. So as morbid as it sounds, 9/11 was the springboard for the Patriots dynasty

They're the only 9-7 team to win, the only team with a negative point differential, the league-worst rushing offense, low-ranking defense (until the playoffs), they had an easy (on paper) regular season schedule that they still barely took advantage of, and they benefited from a weak division that year where the "Dream Team" Eagles fizzled out and their closest competition the Cowboys came up short. They also got swept by the Skins! Overall, they were a team that got hot just at the right time.

As an Eagles fan that 2011 Giants really was trash. Not like the 2007 team. Victor Cruz was a beast that year but there was literally nothing special about them. They were fricking 7-7 with two games left in the season after they got trashed by Washington who was 5-11 that season. I remember laughing at them after that game and then they just turned it on and didnt lose another game.

The 2011 Giants was the most incredible, thrilling, unbelievable season for any team in sports. An atrocious defense that was entirely dependent on sacks to stop drives, a miserable run game that provided zero momentum, and (people forget) a rather poor offensive line that couldn't give any push for the run and frequently left Eli dancing in the pocket. They lost to bad teams, and almost lost to several more bad teams. They didn't have a non-nail biter win until the regular season. The team was only consistent in its inconsistency, and its 4th quarter prowess. An unfathomably clutch team, led by Eli Manning who played his brains and body out for the entire year. The opposite of a "mobile quarterback", he was surprisingly adept at maneuvering around the ever-collapsing pocket. He developed excellent rapport with his receivers in a highly unorthodox offense. He carried the offense and threw for nearly 5000 yards with stud Hakeem Nicks in tow but also elevated no-names Mario Manningham and Jake Ballard into relevancy and of course beckoned the way for Victor Cruz to have one of the greatest seasons for a wide receiver ever. Sure Aaron Rodgers had the better numbers, but Eli WAS the offense and he was working with a lot less; he should have been the MVP. This was a team on stilts in a hurricane. Take away Eli and this team would be lucky to scrape out a couple wins. Take away just one of Nicks, Cruz, or JPP and this team would have easily lost at least 3 more games.
The 2011 Giants were an underdog through and through, making the most of the little talent they had to take down goliath after goliath. I will always remember them fondly.

They may have terrible inconsistency, scheming, and decision making throughout the year, but if they play their best ball come the playoffs, and that best ball is enough to win a ring, it really doesn't matter what their regular season looked like

First off the Giants should have been 10-6, but a terrible call cost them the GB game on SNF. Second, Eli could have been MVP, he did set the record for most 4th Quarter TDs. Week after week he lead a comeback. Third their pass rush didn’t start clicking until week 12 but my playoffs was in full force. Watch those playoff games, Matt Ryan, Aaron Rodgers, Alex Smith and Tom Brady got pounded into the dirt. Fourthly, Bradshaw was a beast, the second half of Niners game he was getting big chunks of yards against a great defense.

Why do you think that the Giants were losing in the first place? I looked at Eli's first 5 "4th quarter/overtime" wins and what I found was embarassing. In 4 of the 5 Eli, had a passer rating of 54 through the first 3 quarters. So, they were in that position in the first place because of him.
The 5th? I swear I cannot make this stuff up. Against the Eagles, a 3 point lead, just over 3 minutes remaining, and the ball, Eli throws an interception that leads to a tied game. The Giants get the ball back, but Eli throws another interception. This time, the clock is on the Giants side and no real harm is done. Then in overtime, it looks like Eli is driving for a potential win, until he throws another interception. That is 3 interceptions in less than 12 minutes of either a three point or tied game. But, the Giants, got a sack/fumble recovery. Then in three plays, without a single pass attempt, a FG is kicked and Eli is given credit for a 4th quarter/overtime win. He literally tried to give the game away and was credited for the win.
I'm not so sure about that. I'm not sure they would have beaten the 2011 Ravens either if they didn't lose the AFC Championship in such a tragic manner.

A team that finished 11-5 and did have top 10 offenses and defenses in terms of scoring, but were not top 10 in yards for both sides and was very lucky that not only inconsisent Jim Plunkett actually started not making mistakes anymore in the playoffs, but also faced 3 better teams in the playoffs that ended up shitting their pants. The Browns (lost the divisional thanks to their kicker missing 2 field goals and MVP Brian Sipe throwing an back breaking interception where they could have kicked a field goal, known as Red Right 88), Chargers (Air Coryell offense with Dan Fouts that should have won the Super Bowl that year, but instead their historically bad defenses allowed 34 points, plus Plunkett severely outperformed Fouts in a home AFC championship) and the Eagles (QB Ron Jaworski threw 3 picks all to the SAME LINEBACKER in the Super Bowl.)
On top of that, Raiders owner Al Davis was suing the NFL for the right to move the team to LA, which they did 2 years later.
The Chargers in 1980 weren't that bad defensively compare to 1981 after they went and trade Fred Dean. That's where their historically bad defense came to play.

The pressure on a "bad team" to win is pretty low. Plus, you tend to play with a chip on your shoulder because everyone doubts your abilities. If you were bad the year before, your SOS is often easy, unlike a stacked team. A stacked team has to look at all the fans, media saying they are going to win it all (Cowboys are a great example). You have anxiety to perform at peak level, then ultimate frustration when it does not happen.

The giants had a reputation that year of stealing games late in the 4th quarter. 15 Eli manning tds in the 4th quarter (record at the time) tied for most game winning drives (8) 4 Jason Pierre Paul blocked field goals which would have tied or even win the game for the other team. Giants defense ranked 2nd in sacks, in spite of being 27th overall. I think the 37-20 thrashing of the packers told the potential of what the giants were capable of. It was probably their only break away win vs an amazing team. Yes the 49ers return man muffed one punt, but the other was a clean strip fumble. Both teams defenses allowed next to no offensive play which required good field position all game. The 2011 giants had the most memorable games won of any team in how they consistently stole games out of nowhere.
I went back and looked at Eli's first 5 "comebacks" and you won't like what I found. In 4 of those games, he had a 54 passer rating through the first 3 quarters. They were behind because of Eli. The 5th? This is pure gold.

And despite the fact that in both postseasons combined, the defense held all playoff teams to 20 points or less (NFL average is 21 points and each team averaged significantly higher), an average of 15.1 points per game, and an opposing passer rating of 74. And Eli still barely managed to win 5 of 8 games by 4 points or less. And 2 went to overtime in which Eli was an absolute non factor on the actual "game winning drive" that he received credit for.
The bottom line is that he was carried by the defense. The Giants could not have won those games without what the defense did. They literally could have won all those games with almost any QB in the league.
Before you argue that last point, let's just look at the SBs. The Patriots scored 14 and 17 points. How many QBs could not have beaten that? Remember that the NFL average was 21.
I'm a Giants guy and Eli was so gotdamn frustrating to watch. But two separate times he put it together. (he received brutal treatment in both NFC Championship games, the opposing D was trying to knock him out of the game but he just kept on getting up off the turf) And back then the D-line-when motivated-could get to any QB in the league. And they sure did in both wins.

2015 is no different. It was a good season for him. He had tons of volume. He was about 15th that seaon in QB rating and 17th in YPA. Not in the conversation for being a top 5 QB. He also benefitted from playing in a lot of blow outs that season and padding his numbers. The Giants D was horrendous in 2015.
Eli's career about 3-5 good/very good seasons. 6-8 mediocre type seasons. 3-5 worse then league average QB seasons. Give or take that's what his career boils down to.
He will no doubt be an egregious addition to the HOF.

Does Eli hold up? No. Not even close. He falls to 14th in yards per game. He falls to 19th in yards/attempt. Those are far cries from #1. This just follows his career in which he has high totals from a lot of below average attempts. Oh, yeah, Brady came within 100 yards twice. In only 3 games.

There are so many misleading things about Eli's career. I'll pick a some of the most glaring ones from your 45 paragraph run on sentence.
Eli couldn't without Plaxico? From what I see, through 11 games, Plaxico had 454 yards, 4 TDs, and a 53% catch rate. And he was the superstar? lololololololololo That year, the Giants went 12-4 and you want to think that 3200 yards, and 22 TDs by Eli was the major reason? That's also funny! The only real contribution he made was that he only had 10 interceptions. Very un-Eli-like. I think it has more do with the defense holding 11 teams to 20 or fewer points. I'm not a big fan of 4th quarter comes because, unless the defense was a real letdown, it was because of the QB. In fact, in many of Eli's "comebacks" he literally stank the place up for 3/4 of the game and then has a miracle breakthrough.
And the Giants can owe both 2007 and 2011 to the Cowboys. In both seasons, a single easy catch that was dropped would have sent the Giants home both years.

But, the main point is that Eli just isn't good. In fact, in 9 of 16 years, his passer rating was below the NFL average. In 5 of the other 7 it was a mere 3.8 or lower above the average, or still just average. So, in 2 of 16 years, he was somewhat above average. How do you explain this?
Top 10 TDs and yards? Just throwing a long time for below average results is not impressive. Put me in long enough and I'll have more than Eli even though I'll be well below average. Eli's TD percentage (TDs/attempts) is actually just high than 70th all time. His yards/attempt are 90th plus. There is no magic in throwing a lot for below average results.
And please tell me how many teams Eli beat that scored more than 20 points in the playoffs. After all, teams making the playoffs should be high scorers, right?

You make some good points about the 2001 Patriots (I had no idea they were in the bottom six in scoring defense, considering they had the likes of Bruschi, Law, Milloy, and Seymour). But they finished 11-5 and got the 2 seed, whereas the 2011 Giants finished 9-7 with the 4th seed.

No. HOF QB, 3 receivers over 1,000 yards receiving. One(Fitz) is a future HOF and Boldin could be one. Their defense was the weak link. They tended to give up huge plays and go into mental lapses during part of the game. They had very talented players of the defensive side and were opportunistic in creating turnovers at the right moment. They were ranked 3rd in pts scored and 4th in total yardage. Maybe repeating other comments here, but the 1970 Colts were led by Don McCaffrey and not Don Shula as the video keeps showing. In fact, Don Shula went to coach the Dolphins that year, leading them to their first ever playoff game. Also the Bengals were in only their 3rd season of existence and they made the playoffs as well albeit with an 8-6 record in the weak AFC central division. OTH, the Cowboys were a dominant team who would blow out the Dolphins in Super Bowl 6, but couldn't put away the Colts, showing that the 1970 Colts in spite of 7 turnovers and supposedly being so weak did what it took to win Super Bowl 5 against a very good team.
Good catch. McCafferty was fired in 1972 when he refused to bench Johnny Unitas. The difference between the Cowboys in SBs 5 and 6 was the one had Craig Morton, and the other had Roger Staubach.
As a Niner fan, the 2011 NFCCG is the loss that leaves the worst taste in my mouth. The Niner defense was so great for a lot of that season and in that game, Eli and the Giant offense couldn't move the ball against the Niner defense after the 1st half. All the Giants 10 point scored after halftime were solely because of those Kyle Williams turnovers (BTW he shouldn't have even been returning kicks because Ginn was injured the previous week against the Saints because of Bountygate). Yes, I know the Niner offense didn't do too much either late in the game, but I would've loved to have seen how it would've played out if not for 1 guy giving away the game. Plus, let's not forget that quick whistle late in the 4th when Bradshaw was stripped but they called forward progress. That easily would've been in Akers FG range
Surprised you didn’t bring up any of the Ravens teams. 1 team was single-handedly carried by the defense and special teams. I think even Billick came out saying that their offense was held scoreless for 4-5 weeks straight. The other Ravens team barely made the playoffs after injuries and luck. They eventually won the playoffs and Super Bowl through sheer luck alone.

The 2000 Ravens winning on defense alone proves they are not a bad team. The defense was possibly the greatest squad to ever take the field. 2012 though, very mediocre team saved by insane performance during the play-offs.
The 2000 Ravens obviously had a weak offense, but they had arguably the greatest defense ever and great special teams. Not to mention won every playoff game by at least 2 TD's, including destroying the Giants in the Super Bowl. No way they're one of the worst champs ever, despite their poor offense/QB.

They're the only 9-7 team to win, the only team with a negative point differential, the league-worst rushing offense, low-ranking defense (until the playoffs), they had an easy (on paper) regular season schedule that they still barely took advantage of, and they benefited from a weak division that year where the "Dream Team" Eagles fizzled out and their closest competition the Cowboys came up short. They also got swept by the Skins! Overall, they were a team that got hot just at the right time.

As an Eagles fan that 2011 Giants really was trash. Not like the 2007 team. Victor Cruz was a beast that year but there was literally nothing special about them. They were fricking 7-7 with two games left in the season after they got trashed by Washington who was 5-11 that season.
