It cleared up pretty nicely in Hamilton about 10 mins ahead, and luckily we escaped the few bypassing clouds. 90 seconds of totality for us, but incredibly cool to experience it.

@@sayedbahari3269 ikr, we got really lucky! I had the feeling we would, I'm often out and find that general time of day will often clear up, at least somewhat. I found a local park, only handfuls of people, so it was nice to share the experience.

Here in Virginia we weren't in the line of totality but it was about 90% covered and it was really cool. Few clouds, dimmed light and about 10° cooler. My friend said she got emotional when she saw it. I asked her why and she said because it was something that humans couldn't f--- up. It was nature and everyone was involved with it. Left, right and middle not fighting for a few minutes.

The fact they’re all wearing the glasses they paid for to look up at a heavily overcast sky has me despairing for the intelligence of mankind .. my nbr’s did the same also. The clouds are already a UV filter folks, the same as any other day you can look at the sky with naked eyes! 🤦🏻‍♀️

But that doesn't block out the sun's light, the glasses let you see the distinct shape of the sun while the moon was transiting in front of it.

Why immerse yourself into a cesspool of screaming people who can’t think for themselves, when you can simply see the event from your own backyard? Eclipses have been happening for the last approximately 4.5 billion years. So, what’s the big deal?

@davidharrow9025 total solar eclipses don't happen as much as annular or partial eclipses. The next one to happen in this area is like 120 years from now and it also looks nothing like any other eclipse you might observe since you can see the normally invisible Corona with your naked eye during it.
